Hello where can I find SKP installer for 2020 version ? Doesn’t see it anywhere on skp site . Thx !!!
I don't know why is it happening but seems like V-ray is getting the wrong path to te image texture.
I've looked everywhere and i can't seem to find what's wrong. Plz help
Hi team, My wife is the designer, but I'm frequently consulted for IT questions. I moved her from her PC laptop to my 2022 Mac Studio Max (2023), which I figured was overkill for what the software requires.
Unfortunately, SUP is constantly hanging or freezing, and Enscape is worse. She's currently working on an urban apartment, so it's not a gigantic project. Any ideas on what might be going on?
Thank you in advance for any experience you might be willing to share!
Can anyone suggest a place where I can download a large collection of hatch patterns I can use in Layout?
Something similar to the ones that come with AutoCAD. I need to do construction documentation and find the hatches that come with Layout insufficient for my needs.
I've had SketchUp Pro 2023 deployed via Intune for a while but want to remove the additional desktop shortcuts it makes (I just want the single sketchup one), can't seem to find anything online about how to do so or workout how to see it's installer switches via cmd
Anyone dealt with this before?
Hi,
I have some planned renovation works I am undertaking on my house in the UK and working with an architect he has given us some basic floor plans and elevation drawings in pdf format and I'll soon be given some more detailed technical structural engineer drawings for the builders to follow etc.
I had a little go with the free version of sketchup following some tutorials and got the hang of some of it but wouldn't have the time or patience to be able to come up with anything useful myself.
Can anyone let us know where I can hire someone's time for taking these drawings and creating 2D and 3D drawings in Sketchup and then if its possible to make these my own so that I can play around with the internal layout of the kitchen/open planned space for example in the free version?
Or if there is a better way of approaching this?
Thanks
About a year ago, after a second consecutive year of price increases to Sketchup, with little to no new features or development, I didnt renew my subscription.
I'm doing a small job at the moment that got me to look at Sketchup and alternatives again, and I came across BricsCAD Shape, as a free alternative.
I was rather surprised after a small amount of use, I'm well versed in Sketchup, so the functions, controls and layout of BricsCAD Shape will take a little getting used to, but it all still appears to be there.
On top of this, the paid versions offers separate 2D and 3D design tools, Engineering and BIM tools and with third party extensions looks good for everything from small design work right up to large scale civil design like airports, subdivisions road and waterways. I was kind of surprised by its capabilities.
So other than the fact it's new to me and it'll have a slight learning curve for a while, it looks highly functional.
I was wondering if anyone else has used BricsCAD and what your overall option of it was? Especially in comparison to SketchUp?

I want to print this part, but I don’t know how to do it. I intend to split it into five parts for printing. If someone could help me, I would be very grateful. I have no experience with sketchup at all.
Hi All,
I'm new to using Sketchup and am taking a course for beginner into intermediate for this and they are working on the pro version which is currently costing around £360 ( the price on the website doesn't include tax until you click checkout.
The course itself cost me around this much for i'm reluctant to spend this much money again especially if there is likely to be a black friday sale in the coming weeks.
So this maybe a long shot as I can't find any discount codes online so far, so hoping someone here may have an idea of a code or if you think the free version would be sufficient for now?
thanks in advance :)
Hi all!! I’ve worked on sketchup before and understand that basics of walls, extension warehouse, etc. I am looking for learn modeling kitchens- specifically custom cabinetry. I want to be able to model it as well as make the plans. Where can I learn this!?!? There are YouTube tutorials but I feel there are so many different ways to do it.
How would you measure and model this in SketchUp to receive a glass railing?
Hi all,
I'm learning to use Sketchup but am quite time-poor. I was hoping I could pay someone to convert my Architect's plans into a Sketchup file. I'm confident I can then overlay materials and modify with my builder.
Not sure what the $ would be for this type of thing, but would like a fixed price. I've attached examples of the plans.
Please respond if you're interested.
Thanks :)
I want to print this out to pdf but then the trees and bushes are all black, is there a way to fix this?
There wenrent any changes done to materials and/or settings, i even removed all the matterials and reapplied them (all the materials are from sketchup warehouse). This is the second floor, on the first one this doesnt happen. The first one is before and the second one is after.
I’ve been designing and rendering architectural models in SketchUp as a hobby, and lately, I’ve started getting freelance opportunities that require more complex models. However, my current setup (specs below) seems to be hitting a limit, and I’m not sure if the bottleneck is my PC or SketchUp itself.
As my skills have grown, my models have become larger and more detailed, but SketchUp has become increasingly laggy and unstable. Despite my efforts to keep models optimized (using groups, tags, disabling profiles, and the lowest visual settings), I still experience somewhat frequent crashes and very poor performance, especially with high polygon counts.
My CPU usage seems to be quite moderate when working on a very complex model - yet SketchUp still lags badly.
I’m considering a new PC that can handle more complex 3D projects. Do you think upgrading my hardware will make a noticeable difference, or is SketchUp itself likely to remain a limiting factor? Thanks in advance!
Here is my current build:
CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
GPU - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super
Motherboard - MSIB450 Tomahawk Max (MS-7c02)
Ram - 4x Teamgroup-UD4-3200-DDR4 (32 GB)
650W Bronze PSU
I am testing out a tutorial and trying to get some exact measurements. I was able to use the rectangle tool and make the measure 4' x 4' using the measurement box, but when I am using the push/pull tool, I cannot seem to use it in the same way and therefore cannot get the right height with the measurement box. Any suggestions?
I am trying to create a routed edge inside the x brace and frame but it will not fill in around the curved corners. I also tried filling it in by making lines and I got close, but it will not fill completely.
Edit: thought it uploaded pics
Is it possible to import/insert a dwg into SketchUp or Layout without losing my dwg layers/colors? I've tried saving as 2013 and 2018 dwg and every time I bring it into either of those programs it is just black and white.
Hi, I’ve imported dwg files but I’m struggling to get them to snap together.
It’s trusses, lighting and led panels. I’m using the axis to move the objects but they just don’t snap together like side by side.
Any way to do this, I’m I doing something wrong?
Thanks
Hello , so im looking forward to changing the interior design of my supermarket , i have the whole idea in my mind and want to see it in 3d before starting the work.
I searched and decided to use sketchup , what tutorials do you guys advice me to use just to make the supermarket model , so basically floor , walls , glass doors , shelfs on walls , double sided shelfs , fridge and the cashier
I have two weeks , 2 free hours a day , is it poosible to learn and make it in time?
I'm creating a profile of a shape in Illustrator. I can't export that as a DXF so I gotta import that into Flexi and export a DXF from there. I import that in SU, explode the shape and add lines to create the faces to extrude. So far so good. But I can't figure out how to smooth out rounded edges after I extrude. The normal way doesn't work. I did get smooth and soft to work, but smooth rounds my edges too much and soft doesnt smooth the polys enough. I just need to figure out how to add more geometry to the faces on the curves. Does anyone do this? Is there a better way overall to do this better?
Hi everyone. Recently i came up with a design idea for a column or why not a skyscraper. I really don't know how to call this solid so ill try to explain it like this: imagine a square with a little thickness and then put another square on top of it thats just slightly rotated and scaled so its a little smaller. Now repeat this process of adding a square just rotated a little and scled down. Once you added a certain amount of squares you obtain an aproximation of the solid.
The ideal solid should be made of infinite squares that have 0 thickness so the lateral surface is smooth.
You should optain two orizontal faces that are simply the biggest and the smaller square, rotated differently. It should look like a smooth transition from the big square to the little one on top.
Does this solid already exist and has a name? I'm now trying to model it in 3d but i think i need plugins to make it better.
this question has been asked before, but I've read those posts and they're 1-2 years old, so I'm wondering what the community thinks now
Which iPad should I get my gf to use Sketchup on-site? She's an interior designer. Normal or Pro, how much RAM?
From the previous posts, it seems that Sketchup on iPad was unstable and crashed often. Are you still experiencing this?
Does sketch up pro run better on windows than Mac?
