Does the still overseas reason really work for LOA?

Recently I have been in Malaysia to celebrate CNY with my family. However, I realised that I would not be able to reach Singapore by Friday to do a graded quiz. Therefore, I am concerned on whether or not the still overseas reason will work for LOA since that it sounds kinda cheap and easy to do so.

Can I switch courses as an incoming PFP student before Y0 ends?

For reference, I’m a PFP student this year, and I messed up badly and I wanna kms over it. (I am eligible for both IT and Engineering with Business)

For context, I originally wanted to put Engineering with Business as my first choice, but my family didn’t allow me to. They think business isn’t a good job and that engineering isn’t worth it because the government can hire people from other countries and pay them lesser for more work. But for IT, they said companies can’t do that since it involves confidential information, so they usually hire Singaporeans. In the end, I had to accept Infotech because they insisted.

However, just a few days after, I had this horrible gut feeling and I can’t seem to get it to stop. My brain keeps telling me that I’m going to regret doing IT because I’m not going to be interested in it, and i won’t see myself doing IT in the future. I had some computing lessons in secondary school, and I honestly found them annoying. I’m more of a hands-on person (DNT) and actually like business-related stuff because I’m more familiar with it (POA) and might even have a passion for it.

My question is: Can I even switch to Engineering with Business before PFP Y0 ends? Or can I only change after finishing PFP Y0? Or is it completely impossible? I understand that business isn’t easy, but I would still rather do that than IT. And I would also rather do engineering, even if it’s difficult, because I enjoy hands-on work, maths, and physics.

I’m an N-Level student with only O-Level Maths and English, so I don’t think I can apply through DAE or anything like that. I saw somewhere on reddit that the chances of a PFP student switching courses are almost impossible, but I really don’t want to do IT. I don’t care if my parents get mad, I just can’t see myself doing this in the future. From what I’ve researched, an IT diploma mainly leads to IT-related jobs, and I don’t want that.

Please help, does an incoming PFP Y0 student have any way to switch to Engineering with Business? Call me dramatic but if I can’t switch and I end up struggling in IT i might just end it all

Help 😭SP-NUS Accelerated Pathway Programme

I'm going to attend the interview for SP-NUS-APP this year. I'm really nervous and would be extremely grateful if any seniors who have gone through this interview could share the questions they were asked last year and offer some valuable tips. Thank you sooo much!

Second choice and third choice

After I have found out that I have partial red green color blindness, I still want to apply for the b.med science but Im also on the risk of failing their medical check up. The main thing I want to ask is if I failed the check up and had to give up on my first choice, do I still get to choose my second/third choices or will they just assign me a suitable course?

Admission for particular courses as a colorblind person

I had a color vision test for my medical checkup today and found out that I have complete red-green colorblindness. I wanted to apply for singapore poly in common science. But it says it doesn't allow colorblind students in. Is it true ? Is there any students who are colorblind and got in?

Anyone here applied to SP through DAE?

Hello everyone,

I applied to SP through DAE and just completed my entrance test today. I wanted to ask if anyone else has taken the same route as me, whether this year or in previous years. Could you share your experience with the application process and the cut-off point for your course?

Also, have you ever encountered a miracle or unexpected outcome when you were feeling pessimistic about your results? If so, do you mind sharing your story with me?

Thank you! I hope we all get accepted into the courses we want. 😊

ccas

Hi, I’m keen in joining a sports CCA in SP. However, I’ve heard that you need to be in a sports CCA school team in secondary school in order to join SP sports cca. Is that true?

sp or tp?

the course i wish to join is information technology however im pretty conflicted between these two poly. though ive been leaning towards sp but ive been weighing the pros and cons

sp (pros): • more hands on experience because of the industry now curriculum (INC) • has a bit more reputation compared to tp (from what ive heard, correct me if im wrong)

sp (cons): • an hour away from my place (honestly idm) • more expensive compared to tp ($12.5k pa, im an international student) • since the cut off point is higher, im assuming there will be more competitive people, meaning harder to score high gpa due to bell curve)

tp (pros): • closer to my place (35mins+) • cheaper ($12.1k pa) • less competitive people, easier to score better

tp (cons) • don’t rly like the structure because comparing it to sp, i won’t get that much exposure. • heard of bad reviews of ict school 😬

the reason why im leaning towards sp is because of the curriculum structure. although at the end of the day both are still a diploma, its more of how i utilise my time within the 3 years. especially considering that im an international student, meaning ill have to have a high gpa + good portfolio to be able to survive in sg. thank you for reading!

Can I do part-time job as a SP student?

I'm an international student with IGCSE qualification. I was thinking about going to SP but my friends told me that SP has gives you so much schoolwork that you don't have time to spare for part-time job. I know that we are allowed 16hrs/week to work part-time but I'm just worried I might not have enough time because I would be occupied studying most of the time.

It is a problem for me if I can't work part-time, so I wanted to ask seniors whether what my friends said was true. Is it possible for me to maintain a good GPA in SP while working part-time?

Questions about Shooting CCA

I just received my o level results, and I managed to EAE into DNS @SP. My CCA in secondary school was shooting (rifle), and I was okay at it (575~580 scores for NSG) Is there any requirements to join the shooting CCA at SP, and are there any fees? My secondary school had its own range and provided the weapons, pellets and suits, but my sister who was an alumni from SP told me that there is no shooting range within campus, where and how do the CCA members shoot? Do we need to purchase our own suit+gloves?

do not join this CCA in SP

hi guys, speaking from a friend's exp, do NOT join SP AIKIDO CLUB. (TLDR at bottom)

you might be wondering "aikido is such a small cca, why cannot join?" well, she originally joined because the people at the booth told her the cca is low effort, no physical training, low commitment (can come once a month), and alot of cca points.

so it turns out they had a registration fee of $55, which they never said anything about, which excluded the uniform fee of $45. so in total before even starting the cca she'd already spent $100, which i thought was mad. on her first official session, there was physical training, so they lied. and there was physical training for the session the week after, and the one after that too. she can't do much physical training bc she has low blood pressure, but she still did i think. personally i wouldve quit by this point. also, their grading starts at $50 and progressively gets more expensive, which they also don't say nor clarify to first time martial artists.

then our exams came, and we got busy, so she had to skip some sessions. apparently when she came back to some sessions, everyone was paggro and said like "long time no see" and stuff like that. to someone who's crazy busy and trying to come to cca, obv this was embarrassing. plus, their coach was apparently scolding people for not coming often, and he said "cca is only 3h of your time. how much work can you even do in 3h? are you sure you can do alot of work in 3h?" wtf bro. i thought you low commitment??

so at this point i tell her to withdraw, because the cca is lowkey quite toxic already. i didn't expect that from a small cca tbh. but she wanted the cca points from attending, so she didn't withdraw yet.

TLDR don't join SP Aikido bc they withhold info + toxic

hows the application process like for igcse students?

As a Malaysian with IGCSE qualifications, how difficult do you think getting into a biomedical science course is? What else is there to do apart from just giving your IGCSE results, like is there an interview process? Also, my grades are 8A* but I heard that it's still difficult to get into SP as a Malaysian even with good results.
