Hello, I am new to this subreddit but a long time player. I recently returned to the game for the first time as an adult and I now have the patience and foresight to build more sophisticated cities and do more regional play. I am building my commercial center in a large tile and have 5 connecting suburban and industrial cities feeding into it. My central tile has about 160,000 pop. now with 600,000 regionally. There is still a lot more room for development in my central tile, but the game is running really slow now. I'm wondering if that's because of all the connections? Is this normal at this point in developing the region? I am hoping to get past 1,000,000 population but at this pace that will take forever. I'm running the game on my dell XPS laptop that I have had for about 4 years. It has 8GB of RAM and CPU around 2 GHz. Would I need a faster PC to go much further? Is there anyway to solve this problem? Btw the major mods I have running are NAM v 48, Roadtop mass transit, and an industry doubler. Any thoughts?
Hey folks
I have a tile with 621 residents and a bunch of farms.
The census is showing Commuters from SimNation as 119k, 27k commercial commuters and 13k industrial commuters out of the city. The 40k commuters leaving this tike is way higher than the 621 residents.
I thought I had the eternal communter bug (though it didn't have enough NC for this). Anyway, I've deleted every NC this this tile and in the neighbouring tiles, and run each tile for multiple years. No change. Traffic is negligible and there are no ferries.
My next steps is to nuke the city, but wanted to check in with the SC4 brains trust. Any idea what is causing this and how to resolve?
Cheers, Dave
Whats the tallest residential building in the SC4 default game?
And how long/how much tearing hair out will it take.

I’m interested in people’s city layouts and I was wondering if anyone would like to share their cities from the top-down camera angles that have been recently introduced? I’m very interested in seeing how others lay roads in non-grid formats. If you have a downtown or suburban decision you’re especially proud of I’d love to see (copy) it!
I tend to get back to sc4 every 3-4 year or so and it is always a hassle to get everything running with the patches and addons etc. So I was thinking, is there some installer that does it all or a prebaked image you can download (I own a physical copy!) somewhere?
Is having mods asvised when playing this game? and if so could someone tell me the essential ones u cant live without. also can this game share save data on steam across different platforms?
What it looks like now, and then I highlighted the parts of the original village.
I really wanted a cute, small village, with a cemetery in the volcano crater, and I did it! I had education all the way up to a high school, every house was medium-wealth and lived in, everyone was watered, powered, and traffic was green on every street and road.
I had 5 sims who became CEO's, moved into mansions, and right now they're all on their 4th generations.
It all went to hell when I finally decided to tackle the trash problem with a landfill, but I must have saved during my test run, cause when I tried to "reset," the landfill was still there, and it got away from me too fast, smh.
Dunno if I want to try and save this or wipeout TT^TT
Anyways, just sharing my experience :)
Sup!
How do i put the game from the EA Play software to run in widescreen? i've tried "-customresolution" command on properties of the shortcut and it didnt worked.
is it really possible?
Hey, I am a huge fan of SC4 but new to mods and all that kind. I installed network add on mod, but now I am looking for a mod with nice trees and a mod with nice parks and plazas. I dont know where to look. Any tips?
I've been reading ST with great interest, and as I'm one of the currently active content creators (though we release so slowly, but I understand the delays as some things are more important than few new buildings).
Jasoncw wrote in this page https://community.simtropolis.com/forums/topic/763277-lets-write-our-own-sc4-building-styles/?page=6&tab=comments#comment-1797140 very well, and I agree with him. His comments on that thread are also most agreeable and I would go his suggestions. BUT! I would rename "Stockholm 1945" to "Helsinki 1945", for there are more buildings based on Finnish architechture than other Nordic countries from that era and Finnish functionalism was in its peak post-war years.
Also Copenhagen 2025 doesn't fit, as someone in thread said it, the gulf region (or any region) hasn't got uniform style. I would rename it as Paris 2025, as Paris has more modern buildings coming up.
