While baking for thanksgiving, I inadvertently built a wall on the counter my big boy usually uses to get to my prep counter. Eventually he realized he could sneak past in the gaps, so it didn’t last long, but it was certainly great while it did last 🤣
About 5 weeks ago, we got these 2 lovely boy Siberians. They were about 6 months old at that time.
The reason they were adopted so late was that they breeder said they loved them so that you had a hard time leaving them, but in the end it was better for them to get more attention.
Now, 5 weeks later, we've been to the vet 3 times, and it's been a mess.
They both sneeze, cough, and have breathing issues. They've had multiple medications already from the vet, but nothing is really helping yet.
The breeder said she was with the cats for about an hour every day and they never were sick there. She had one other cat I saw at pickup that had a drooping eye.
We also changed litter 3 times to get the least dusty ones. This morning, I found poop next to the litterbox for the first time, I guess they don't like this not-dusty one either (it's the longer browns sticks that clump).
I am really worried. We got 2 cats (and automatic feeder, water, a camera, and will get family to change litter) so we can still go on holidays trips etc.
Now they need daily medicine, and we are worried all the time. So no more holidays.
Also the sneezing is bad, so bad that I don't want them on my lap during work (from home) anymore, because if they sneeze on my monitor during an international meeting it's an issue.
Which also makes me feel bad for liking them less and giving them less attention (refusing lap time feels bad).
Now I don't know what to do. The breeder said just bring them back. But we love them so and that would really hurt.
The vet said we can try a different medicine now, for a bit longer. But they don't know if they will ever be healed, it could be a life long problem.
We value our holiday trips as well, and not taking any for ~15+ years is not an option.
Any advice?

Hello! I am getting a sweet little kitten from a breeder here in Canada, and just want to check - is it ok if the kitten is not registered with TICA? They register with the Canadian Cat Association instead. Said they used to with TICA but explained that TICA had been frustrating to deal with.
This is the guy that turned my world upside down.
…but really she is plotting what ornament is the next victim in her nightly tree shenanigans.
Is there any way to allergen test without getting fur samples from a cattery? I requested some from Siberlove, but she's not sure when she'll be able to get them to me, and I'm trying to get a kitten last Jan/early Feb.
Hi all! I have two Siberian cats, Winston and Boeing 737. They are almost 2 and I noticed their fur seems to feel a bit dirty. I brush them multiple times a week and use a baby trimmer to remove mats whenever I feel them. When I pet the cats, I noticed that they leave a weird feeling on my hands after. Is that dander? Beyond this I noticed that they look a bit greasy… I see them groom themselves often but am not really sure how great a job they’re doing. Any advice/recs? Do they need baths?? I am a first time Siberian owner and a bit lost with their grooming practices
Hi everyone, my 5 month old baby has not been able to walk on her hind legs since the morning. She has been acting strange and not showing interest in eating and has not used her litter box. She’s eating her treats as normal and shows interest in playing - she just can’t move her back legs properly and will take a few steps then stop and lay down.
She was fine yesterday and it seems to have all happened over night.
I took her to an emergency vet today and they said it looks like she has an injury to her back (thoracolumbar) and is experiencing back pain. I have not seen her fall/get hurt so I’m not sure how she could have injured her back. They prescribed her gabapentin and I just gave her the first dose.
I’m extremely anxious and worried I don’t know what to do. I can’t see her in pain and I really hope she starts to eat.
Any advice/thoughts/prayers appreciated.
