Having noticed that both the Sharks and the Stormers named 29 player squad for their respective 3 game tours of Europe.
I asked around
And rugby365 confirmed that
The URC covers 29 players costs on tour, Franchises are allowed to take additional players on tour at their own expense.
What the protocol is for one off away games in the Champions/Challenge Cup, I had not thought of, will look into it.
Noticed on The Sharks Instagram that certain players still in Durbs having not been selected to tour Europe (Lappies), were playing beach rugby with some kids, good for them
Hey gents, we saw the rumors of Koch leaving a couple months ago...now the season has commenced and there's no news, safe to assume he is staying? I think he is from Empangeni, and family are close by.
Only found this out today
Happy for him
Another player who was in blistering form before the March 2020 suspension off rugby
Shadow of his former self last season
Wish him the best though, I am confident he will do well in french D2
Fuck I need a break.
Sharks play their first urc round robin game of the season on saturday the 28th sept at 20:35 SA time
Boks play their last Rugby Championship game earlier that same day in nelpruit
Thus I wonder how likely it would be for us to fly out a bok or two for the tour
At least for the 3rd game in Europe
Seems slim though
There might also be rest protocols
More likely they could be available for the two home games after the tour againsts glasgow and munster
The last of which is 30th oct
After that 5 weeks of urc games in a row, 3 away two home
Theres a one month break
Next games on the 30th nov (stormers in durban)
During that break the boks go on a 3 week tour of europe Interestingly enough
So i hope then the players remaining at the sharks are given a week or two off and then back to training
