A theory on what led some of the famous serial killers to do what they did

I noticed that a lot of these legendary serial killers like Dahmer, Bundy, Manson, Gein, etc had dealt with a form of abuse as a child. They were also part of the generation where men had to stfu if they had any sort of emotion or mental issues. Holding all of that back, eventually makes anyone snap, it leads to addictions to cope, then eventually drives people insane. I sometimes wonder if a lot of these well known killers would've still done what they did if they're generation wasnt frowned upon for a mental disorder or emotions. Would being able to seek help or vent or expresses any sort of struggle helped prevent some of their actions?

What are your connections to famous serial killers/mass murders?

I have 5 familial connections to famous American Serial Killers/Mass Killers

    1. My fiancés mom was working at the old Witchita Library when “BTK” Dennis Raider was dropping off all his clues there. She told me that everyone was on edge badly and it also pissed off many librarians cause his stunts caused them to be away from important work.

    2. My fiancés grandma, the mom of the BTK Librarian lived in Lincoln Nebraska and personally knew both Fugate and Starkweather. Her grandma passed a few years ago and her mom has told me she wished she wrote down what she remembered of Starkweather and Fugate. Apparently Starkweather was pretty much described accurately by Springsteen.

    3. My mom’s ex boyfriend Brian who she dated in college in the 70’s, not the serial killer but his Dad was the abusive male lover of Capote who wrote In Cold Blood which was one of the most famous familicides in American history. I got caught by a teacher in 8th grade reading the book and thought I’d get in trouble, nope. She knew what it was all about and encouraged my love of true crime!

    4. A cousin who I’ve never met was pretty much best friends with the Columbine Shooters and his dad was the lead FBI investigator. I stumbled upon that info accidentally when my last name popped up in the article. It’s not common at all so anyone with it likely a cousin. Asked my dad about it and he confirmed it saying “Your grandpa called him when he saw the name.” Also all those conspiracies about my cousin are BS.

    5. A cousin on my mom’s side has a longtime girlfriend. Her girlfriend and I are both true crime nerds and she just told me a little known fact about Bundy’s attack at the Chi Omega house. He got around so fast and easy not cause he was quiet or sneaky. He got around cause it was laundry night and the bedroom doors were open, I asked how she knew that cause I assumed he just broke in. Turns out she knows several of the girls who were there that night.

    Toolbox Killers

Is there anyone still alive to talk about their experience of their life being impacted forever from the above crime? Not seen any footage of families/jurors/detectives/potential victims, years later talking about this.

    About Tsutomu Miyazaki's hands

I've seen the famous black and white picture.

But on the others pictures from his arrestation they looks perfectly normal.

    Why ?

(I Hope this is the good one because I've been deleted from two others subs)

How did Ramirez end up on the Maury show?

Out of all the things I read about him, I've never seen someone explain how he ended up on a tv show? There is only one short clip of it on youtube too.

    Books about Cannibals

Does anyone have any recommendations for books about cannibal serial killers? I already have My Friend Dahmer and several books with chapters dedicated to lesser known cannibals.

I already have The Eat the Evidence Trilogy on my list, but any other recommendations would be great!!

I was wondering if you guys could recommend any films or series that are a similar style that informs? I have seen documentaries before but I like those film/series style over documentaries, just my cup of tea, sorry. Thanks in Advance.

Have you ever encountered a serial killer?

Have you every encountered a serial killer by chance? When I was about 13 my dad lived in the US and was receiving treatment at mayo clinic. And i had a self soothing habit where I suck/chew on my thumb. Of course now I realise it looks wrong. Me and my mom were waiting outside a best buy for my brother. And this guy would not stop hovering around he would not stop looking and he wouldn't go away! Thank God my mom was there. Years later I got into true crime. And I see an interview on YouTube. Lo and behold. This little germ of a man.

Have you ever met, lived close to or known a serial killer. If not, maybe someone you know.

I wrote this in the serialkiller forum and it was locked and referred to this place.

Personally, I have not that I know of. However...I lived about 4 miles from J.W Gacy's old address. Once when I was out biking, I passed his old address. It's a nice looking little house there now. The Pharmacy where Gacys picked up Robert Pieast, is now a child care center and right by a amazing breakfast and lunch restaurant called Sunrise Grill. I've been there many times. It's just minutes from Ohare.

My father in law went to HS with the Green River Killer. He actually knew him back then, but they were not friends or anything. My husband grandma lived next to the Green River where many of the bodies where found and my husband told me he used to be scared as a kid in the 80s because of all the bodies they found.

Also, I lived very close to where Ted Bundy lived as a child in Tacoma Washington.

What’s up with Richard Ramirez’s Asian fetish?

Okay, why does nobody talk about this? My guy had the worst Asian fetish ever and nobody bats an eyelid. I recently dug into Richard Ramirez and I was shocked. Almost half of all his rapes, killings, assaults etc. were directed towards either east or southeast Asian kids, women or men. Considering Asian people made up only 10% of the LA population (including all kinds of Asians like Arabs, south Asians etc.) almost 50% of all his violent crimes including east or southeast Asian people is a huge number. I also found some of his drawings which mostly depicted Anime girls or simply just woman with east Asian features. I do think his childhood might have played a part in this as his cousin Miguel did show him photos of him killing and raping women in Vietnam. I also read somewhere that Richard Ramirez allegedly targeted Asian women because they were “submissive”. What the fuck? If this was any other minority he’d be getting slandered left and right. Take Jeffrey Dahmer for example. He killed mainly gay, black men - not because he fetishised or hated them, but because they were easy. The police would simply just not look into these cases and he lived in a predominantly black neighbourhood. Yet he gets slammed and called a racist. Why do people not do the same with Richard Ramirez when it was way more obvious that he would target them specifically?

    (Mad) Zodiac Killer Theory

Was thinking about the massages the Zodiac Killer used and it got me thinking that type of code looked familiar to me.... In a courthouse there are transcriptionists, transcribers often use code when typing live within a courthouse....

The thing is, it's completely unique to the person that types it and anyone else that looks at it wouldn't understand what is written unless the transcriptionist themselves decoded it...

I'm not sure if they ever thought to look at local or near-by people that are transcribers, possibly even retired around the time the murders took place.

You may say, 'well why did they use simple code at the start before changing their MO'?... Well maybe it was a tunt of glorification. A way to brag and make a statement that they were out actively killing...

'But why did they stop killing'? Who knows maybe they went into hiding, thinking the unique code would give the game away, maybe they go sent to prison, your guess is as good as mine.

Tell me what you think about this theory and what your thoughts are about the Zodiac Killer. The enigma has always got me curious.

The 24 years massacre committed by a village when every villager was a murderer

Note: I'm wondering if there's any similar case besides this one. The middle ages was the era when everything was old. Murderers could be everywhere and lack of record makes us wonder how dangerous of that era would be. Luckily, this case was an incident that at least got a record. What do you think about this case?

I did my best for the translation to make you guys can read and understand the story throughoutly. The thing is, the texts had so many Vietnamese-Chinese words, making it difficult for me to understand fully since they were the old language

All information source is from this site: https://vi.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tr%E1%BB%8Dng_%C3%A1n_B%C3%B2_B%C3%A9o_B%C3%B2_G%E1%BA%A7y

    The case details:

(Bo Beo, bo gay) "Fat Beef, Thin Beef" murder case or the Da Gia Thuong massacre was a shocking murder case in Vietnam's history. Occurred from 1670 to 1694 in the village Da Gia Thuong included 290 villagers repeatedly hoaxed and took 318 passerbys in a cave to kill and rob. Murder location was located in Da Gia Thuong village, Gia Vien district, Truong Yen region, Thanh Hoa town (now is Gia Thanh village, Gia Vien district, Ninh Binh province)

Location name Da Gia Thuong now is lost. It was a location by the Kem Trong cave of Ninh Binh province. About the robbers that murdered innocent people in Da Gia Thuong village, Gia Vien district, Truong Yen region, traditions history books like Dai Viet Su Ky tuc bien, Kham Dinh Viet Su thong giam cuong muc, Viet Su Cuong muc tiet yeu, etc... all written the same way

For an example, in Kham Dinh book of Quoc Su Quan of the Trieu dynasty wrote: "Year 15th of Giap Tuat, Thanh Khang Hi 33th (1694). May, summer. Captured and killed 52 evil men in Da Gia Thuong village. Village Da Gia Thuong is a place full mountains and narrow roads, caves everywhere. People there made their own contract, put prostitutes to observe. Anyone passes by or comes to sleep overnight, they would use the night to murder and rob, then throw the body into a cave. This incident lasted for more than 20 years, bones were full and all pilled up. Now everything was discovered, the realm ordered the Duke Le Hai to check everything out. 290 people who involved were captured, 52 evil leaders were decapitated, the others had their fingers chopped off and got exiled overseas. Name of the village located in the town was erased. Da Gia Thuong - name of the village, belonged to District Gia Nguyen Phu Truong Yen of Thanh Hoa, now belongs to District Gia Vien, Ninh Binh province"

Da Gia Thuong village was located in the south, by the Khout wharf, on the road of North - South, below a limestone mountain, overlapping and dangerous. There was a bandit group, they forced all the heads of the village to follow, it gradually became a village of robbers, they got their own deals tightly. That's why those crime activities of the entire village lasted for more than 20 years with no leak. They founded a station near the Khout wharf located in Day river, on the road as a "cover" for the tavern and inn businesses. The innkeeper would always provide full of fine wine mixed with aesthetic, using to feed the customers. When a customer was eating, there would be someone passing by to ask the innkeeper:

    • Would the tavern have some beef tomorrow? We would come!

    • Yes

    • Fat beef or thin beef?

    • Fat beef!

The customers who heard the conversation didn't know that was a signal of the bandits. Fat beef means the rich. Thin beef means the poor. The bandits would base on the innkeeper's signal to take action, when the customers were in deep sleep, they would break in to tie their hands, put cloths in their mouths, then dragged them on the limestone mountain. On the mountain had a very deep cave named Kem Trong. They would throw people down the cave and share the money they robbed with each other

That time was under the rule of King Le Hy Tong, but all powers were in hands of Lord Trinh Can. That day, the Lord was on his way to go overseas. When passed the entrance of Dai Hung, he met a woman with a letter on her head, the woman kept kneeling deeply before the wagon, didn't go away although the guards had repeatedly ordered her to. The Lord asked to stop the wagon then asked the guards to question the woman. It turned out her husband was murdered by the bandits, she was abducted to be a wife of a leader, the woman managed to flee after two years. After hearing the story and checking the letter, the Lord immediately ordered Duke Le Thi Hai to bring 2,000 troops to head straight to Gia Vien, assaulting Da Gia Thuong sneakily

That afternoon, a physician came by using the Khout wharf and entered the village Da Gia Thuong. Finished eating, he went to bed. Midnight, the bandits sneaked in. The physician got his hands tied, his mouth sealed, then was dragged to the mountain. However, before the bandits could do anything, the roars of thousands of soldiers sounded up, Da Gia Thuong village was fully surrounded. Almost 300 criminals were arrested, 52 people were confirmed to be the leaders, got executed. The others got exiled overseas. The name Da Gia Thuong village was then erased. People used bamboo to make ladders, throwing ropes to climb down the cave, they discovered numerous of bones, they later brought all out to make a cremation

Christman Genniperteinga, the most murderous serial killer ever. (Repost, original post on r/serialkillers but was removed and apparently it would fit better here, so.)

We aren't sure if the story is exact or even real.

(As a non native speaker, here a timeline:

1568 - Christman start living in the moutain, having in mind to kill 1000 people. He had a notebook were he wrote the name of each of his victimes.

M.O. : He lured traveler into his caves, and poisonned them. Except kids, he broke their neck and tied them by the foots on the ceiling of one of his caves, he loved watching the wind pushing their bodies and sing to them "Dance, sweet children, dance, your father Genipperteinga, dance for you."

Circa 1575 : He kidnap a woman, she became his sex slaves. He raped her daily, during years of torture she was pregnant 6 times. Each time she given birth, Christman snap the neck of the babies.

1581 : His sex slave ask him if she can only one day, go in town. He accept, she'll reveal everything to the mayor.

27 may 1581 : Christman is arrested by 30 soldiers. They'll find the bodies of... 964 people.

14 june 1581 : Christman is executed by the torture of the wheel.

23 june 1581 : Christman died after 9 days of torture.

Location of Dnepropetrovsk maniacs of the infamous 3 Guys 1 Hammer video

Hello, I've been asking since the beginning of the Ukraine / russia war where the location of the Dnepropetrovsk maniac are, in which Prison were they kept, and have the Russians breached those prisons? I've only been either downvoted or ignored. Nobody has ever given an answer to what I see as a perfectly legit question.

Is it possible to exist a serial killer who kills only using internet, no physical contact to the victims?

As you people know, the modern times we're living have many things that a serial killer can't get rid of completely. DNA test, CCTVs, tracking system, tech everywhere, it creates difficulty for the serial killers to approach and murder their victims, they'll be caught early. However, the more advanced the society develops, the more criminals have to adapt and evolve with it

Is it possible to exist a serial killer who murders without using physical contact?

He will use fake accounts, VPN or some kind of apps to make his device can't be tracked or sends wrong coordinate. He approaches his victims, blending in stranger group chat or something similar, chatting with those victims (Only targets those who look wimp for successful possiblity). After establishing a certain connection with the victims, he attacks their mental states, blackmailing or taunting their appearance or their families, he also gathers toxic guys in the chat to escalate the problem. After experiencing for a certain time, the victims will get in a gloomy, unstable state, they keep tolerating until they're snapped and they will kill themselves

Meanwhile the murderer erases all the things that contained connection between him and the victims. He dumps the current account and uses the new one, moves on targeting another...

Since it's just a theory, I think the real murderer can do more than what was written here

    Do you think it's possible?

What would the cops do to apprehend him?
