/r/Seinen
Seinen is for Manga or Anime that is targeted at a 18–40 year old male audience. Seinen manga are distinguished from shōnen manga which are for younger teen boys, although some seinen manga like xxxHolic share similarities with shōnen manga. Seinen manga can focus on action, politics, science fiction, fantasy, relationships, sports, or comedy. The female equivalent to seinen manga is josei manga.
Tired of manga and anime made for children, this subreddit was created to aim at the older crowd, who like more serious, intellectual, or perhaps starring characters old enough to drink.

I really love mature manga with mature themes. I love how they can have super interesting stories about the simplest things like gambling or fashion etc… and not just centred on fighting like shonens are (some shonens are really great too).
I was wondering if there any anime adaptations of good seinen manga
Anyone up for putting me onto some cool series? I'm already aware of the mainstream series pretty much like berserk Tokyo ghoul Vagabond Vinland saga etc. Genre wise I prefer Fantasy and/or Supernatural series above all else but Sci-Fi series work too. let me know what you guys got for me in the comments 🙏👀
My one sites been stuck on v28 283 since November
Found a new site mangapark and it has all 38 volumes ! Up to chapter 385
This might be my new favorite site.
I just finished berserk I want to read something like it
Hey everyone, currently playing Astral Chain on the switch and I'm loving the slightly dystopian, futuristic setting. Looking for manga recommendations that capture that atmosphere.
I've read some Stand Alone Complex and really liked it, but don't know what to try next. I watched Psycho Pass and thought that was great

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I've been wondering if there is still a demand for dark anime?
for context, I published a mafia romance short story on substack targeting the seinen demographic a week ago, but I've struggled to find readers beyond those I asked to beta read while I was writing it. I've thought of posting it on platforms like wattpad and royalroad for discoverability, but they're all either oriented around fantasy, isekai, and high school romance, and/or teens, and there's barely any more mature, dark stories with a decent following on there, so it's got me wondering if there's still a demand for dark anime these days?
it doesn't seem like there's a platform for seinen webfiction if you will, and as I think about it deeper, it also seems like dark anime production has died down post-2000s. I also can't think of many dark anime produced post-2000s that were also popular, with the last one coming to mind being vinland saga.
I'd like to think that there is still a market for dark anime such as monster, black lagoon, and banana fish (josei but most of its elements are seinen imo), not just because my short story aligns with it, but because it is what I enjoy watching most, however, seeing as they're barely adopted these days (as per my understanding at least), could it be that this is the case after all?
admittedly I've been anime-only mostly and have started changing that this year, so I have no knowledge of what the scene is exactly for seinen manga, but my assumption is that the dearth of dark anime adopted these days is a direct reflection of its popularity
please clarify if I'm wrong (I really hope I am); I'd put the link for my short story, but I'm unsure if they're allowed
I’m looking for youtube channels that take a deeper dive into manga. I’m honestly over the usual content like “My 10k Manga Collection,” “October 2023 Manga Haul,” or “Top 10 Hottest Waifus.”
Don't get me wrong, those videos have their audience and purpose - they’re just not for me. I find them super repetitive and, well, kind of boring.
I'm more into videos that focus on underrated series or explore the artistic and philosophical aspects of specific manga. I also care more about the content than the video editing - as long as it’s not some endless podcast-style discussion.
Does anyone have any channel recommendations? I’d especially love to hear about smaller creators.
I prefer manga over anime because I can choose any music I like to play in the background while reading. This has made my experience with the manga so much more enjoyable. I try to match the music to the context of the scenes, and after years of doing this, I think I’ve put together a pretty good playlist for kingdom manga, which is my favorite. I just wanted to share it with you all—I hope you find it as enjoyable as I do! Here is the spotify link:

I’ve listed a lot of songs, but I don’t listen to everything at once. I usually pick one track that matches the moment and play it on repeat, and it flows really well with the story. I hope you find this helpful and enjoy experimenting with the music as much as I do
Where can I read homunculus manga? I can't find
Hi I would like to read something similar to
<Yajin Tensei><Sousei no Taiga><The wolf wont sleep><King of the labyrinth><Sousou No Frieren><Almark>A good setting, mature characters, good story, Any recommendations will be welcomed, you can check these mangas as well if you already havent.
It was good (7.7\10), but I don't understand why people say it's really depressing and or a masterpiece. Because I didn't really care about most of the charcters and I feel there were some unnecessary chapters (not related to the main story and not really adding anything for m). However I can agree that the art is amazing.
So why is it seen as very depressing and or as a masterpiece?
Which volume is this?
I'm searching for manga set in a classic black and white world, with mostly everyone except villains being good and a protagonist as ruthless as the villains. He doesn't have to be straight up a villain himself, can be an antihero fighting the villains, but he should clearly not be a good person. Like, imagine if Guts was transported into 80s He-Man and straight up just slaughtered Skeletor instead of sparing him like He-Man always does, then beat up He-Man when the latter tried to lecture him about the importance of being the bigger person. I know this sounds edgy as hell but please bear with me :p
Doesn't have to be fantasy btw. Can be modern day, sci-fi or whatever.
Hey everyone, I’ve been thinking about the types of anime content available on YouTube and wanted to ask: What kind of videos do you feel are missing or would like to see more of?
Whether it's deep-dive analyses, reviews, community debates, lesser-known series recommendations, or something completely unique, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Are there specific trends you like or feel are overdone? Maybe a niche topic you wish got more attention?
Looking forward to hearing your ideas!
