The Secret Service fired multiple shots outside the home of Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen early Tuesday morning.
Carjackers were trying to break into vehicles near Yellen's mansion in Northwest Washington, D.C. when a uniformed Secret Service agent discharged their weapon sometime shortly after 1:00 a.m.
The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle. It is unclear if they were injured during the incident, but so far it appears they have not been apprehended.
Senior law enforcement officials are calling the incident an 'agent involved shooting,' according to multiple reports.
The Secret Service and the Treasury Department did not respond to DailyMail.com's request for comment on the shooting incident.
Yellen is protected by U.S. Secret Service (USSS) agents and law enforcement confirmed President Joe Biden 's Cabinet member was not under threat during the incident.
Police got a call at around 0145 this morning for reports of a person shot and that's where they found a 37 year-old Security Guard shot least one time. He was rushed to the hospital and is expected to be okay. We're told this all started with a fight that broke out inside the bar. Security was working to break up the fight when shots were fired by the which hit the Security Guard. Police are still unsure if he was the intended target. The suspect ran from the scene before police arrived. No other injuries have been reported, though.
