Just a complete what if here not based in any fact and I know the new POR has dropped and we are keeping the current uniform but what if.....
So we have explorer navy blue right. Give the explorers a navy blue shirt and let the leaders have the darker brown coloured shirt :D that way I wouldn't have to worry about returning in my shirt everythime I have a bloody campfire haha
Or a complete update what about for leaders a navy blue shirt. Grey activity trousers and switch the belt from black leather to brown leather
My son recently went to a Jambo and came back with a lot of badges and started swapping with his troop. Eventually he got to where he was happy with what he had left and didn't want to swap any more. There was a scout who kept begging for more badges but my son refused. Then my son's whole bag of badges disappeared. Today, another scout gave my son one of his lost badges back, saying the kid who had been begging for them before gave it to him.
I'd brought the matter of the missing badges up before and the SM freaked out at me, that I'm evil for even considering that there may have been a theft, talking about getting the Council involved and everything. But now, there's sort of proof that yeah that may have happened. Spouse says I should let it go but we'll he's my kid and I want to protect him. Should he tell his patrol leader instead?
Question just thought id double check. someone mentioned that the adult uniform First Aid badge is only to signify those that have the 16 hour outdoor first aid, and not the 6 hour first responder level. so if your 16 expires and you only have the 6 hour redo you should take off the badge?
Hi everyone,
I’m part of a Venture company, and we’re currently looking for fundraising ideas to support our activities. The challenge is that our group struggles a bit with planning and organizing complex events, so we’re hoping to find ideas that are straightforward, effective, and don’t require too much preparation or logistics.
If you’ve had success with any easy-to-execute fundraisers or have suggestions that have worked for your group, we’d love to hear them! We’re open to creative and practical options that can help us achieve our goals without overwhelming our team.
Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences and advice!
I got some wooden dowel arrows to present to my crossovers. I'm struggling with the colors of the rank stripes I need to add. I see conflicting things when searching online. Is there an official color list? I have one that has come all the way from Lion so I'm excited to stripe her's.
Hi,
I was a scout as a kid, and unfortunately the group I was with excluded and isolated me due to being disabled. I was left out consistently, and eventually had to leave. I was never given any support with badges or anything, despite wanting to earn them and join in.
I've started volunteering recently, and am aiming to work with accessibility within British scouting, and one thing I'm doing is tracking what I've helped work or learnt through my volunteering (in certain aspects, I'm delayed, so practical skills I'm often learning with the kids, but I'm able to help organise, facilitate etc too). Unfortunately, all of my badges were destroyed after my father spilled something (I think it was oil?) on them.
As such, I've been trying to get badges myself to make my own camp blanket. I've got a few, but I've got gaps too. I've obviously tried the scouting website, but it's restricted. I don't want to do this via my group, as I want to ensure it comes from my own money and can't be confused as being from theirs. Any help would be advised, as right now I only have ebay.
TIA
Hello,
i'm a Scout from Germany traveling to Marrakesh from the 9th of December until the 12th of December. I would like to meet up for a coffee with a local scout and talk about the scouting culture in Morocco. Maybe one of you would be up for that. :)
Greetings from Germany
Does anyone know how many Cornwell scout badges have been given out in total, or the rough estimate? I’ve just found my dads Cornwell award from 1988
Hello! Doing a little crowd sourcing here. I asked my cousin what his kid likes and the only answer I received was “Boy Scouts” with no explanation past that so I assume that means his kid is a Boy Scout. He’s I think maybe 12/13 years old or so, so I’m looking for an age appropriate gift in those guidelines. Budget is probably $40 or so at highest. So far I’ve come across a knot making guide at REI, a Boy Scout compass and a survival kit. Any better ideas I should be looking into? Thank you!
I have recently started scouting for the very first time in my life, as a scout leader.
Since then, I've been super emotional. I feel like I'm giving my inner-child this experience that I didn't dare to have when I was young. I feel like it’s a beautiful gift I’ve given myself.
I am already proud to be a scout leader, to pass on these beautiful traditions to children and to offer them opportunities to flourish.
As much as I am melancholic at not having been in the scouts when I was younger, I thank life that I am there today, with this parricular vision of the movement.
Let's be proud and live up to what the scout movement is 🫰
I have been very close to Eagle scout for some time now and I recently heard that my Eagle scout workbook has been approved by my local council.
And for those that don't know Eagle scout is the highest possible rank to earn in American scouting that requires a lot of work to do.
Hey all, I'm a scout leader in Dublin, Ireland. I'm looking for suggestions on scout centres or locations for an abroad annual camp ideally in Europe. Appox 20 scouts and 5/6 leaders
The main issue would be transport of gear, so would need options for cheap transport or to stay somewhere that can rent out gear (marquee/cooking tent, tables and benches, cooking utensils and stoves, gas, sleeping tents if possible, dining shelter, pioneering poles)
Another option is a scouting hostel as we would not need to bring all the gear over or rent.
I was also thinking of seeing if there are any groups that would be interested in hosting us at their den/ scout centre/ field, and to loan us camping gear/tents for free or cheap and then our group would be able to give your group tents/gear or host at our den if you were to ever stay in Ireland and not having to worry about increased costs
I know as scouts and scouters we always want to keep costs down so if a group could lend gear and save eachother some rental or shipping fees that would be amazing. And making new connections is what it's all about.
Look forward to seeing the suggestions and hearing from you,
Lee :)
As a Malaysian scout going for the national Malaysian jamboree in December 21-27 i need help deciding whether I should bring either my camping mat or camping cot to be used for a week at the site. Thoughts ?
A small group of us (2 leaders, 6 explorer scouts, aged 14-16) will be travelling across Europe from the UK in late July, early August. Our general route is in the title.
We're really struggling to find cheap campsites (scout or general) or scout huts to sleep at once we get south of Rome. Any good tips?
Hi,
i was recently elected quartermaster for my venturer unit, and I have been put in charge of planning what to pack for a 2 night camp + food. We're staying at a campsite and we can take a trailer up but I have no idea of how to go about planning it would anyone be able to point me in the right direction?
Hey! I'm reviving an old, once very successful project - a social media page that shares quirky, funny and "useless" facts about Scouting. While the focus used to be mostly on fun facts, this time I want to take it a step further.
I’m thinking about adding things like recipes, quizzes, fun challenges, or posts diving into scouting traditions and history.
What do you think? Any ideas on how to make the page more interactive and turn it into a fun space for sharing, learning, and connecting?
I've posted here about Jamboree Volga 2000. I want to show you a scarf that was gifted to my Scoutmaster Baloo by English scout.
Yes, that's a British national scarf created specially for this Jamboree. We have some of them in our museum.
It's 24 years now but it's near perfectly preserved😁
I'd be happy to see your feedback and answer all your questions!

Hello, Just wondering if anyone has any ideas. I'm organising a camp. We are going to be cooking a Christmas dinner over an open fire(cooking chickens). One of my explorers is a vegetarian so I'm looking for an alternative, preferably one that can be cooked on a fire.
Thanks
Question is - where do I go from here? What am I talking about? Here's the background.
Went to renew my son's membership with BSA and the charge for his membership fees is on my credit card but his membership status continued to be listed as "Submitted" with a link to complete payment. So, it never appeared to me in any form that membership was confirmed with payment. All I have seen is continuing queues for payment.
After disputing the charge on my Credit Card, I received an email from a Senior Project Manager in the IT Group at BSA in Irving TX asking why the dispute on the charge and stating that he will contest the dispute.
After explaining the situation, the IT guy was apologetic for the experience I had and in effect said that if I cancelled the dispute with my credit card, that he would refund the fees.
So I cancelled the dispute and since then he has not been able to issue a refund.
Since then, sever emails to this IT Guy have gone unanswered.
I believe it is time to escalate this issue within BSA. (Side note is I spoke to a very nice gentleman at the local council - he was not able to issue a refund; and, he would need payment to renew my son's membership.)
Question is - where do I go from here? Who would be best to contact within BSA regarding this membership renewal debacle? Any recommendations or connections you might have are greatly appreciated.
Hi All,
I'm a Scout Leader with a group in Chichester (UK) and we are having a World Challenge Badge night on the 27th Nov. My contact from another country has fallen through so came on here to ask if there were any groups of scouts from outside the UK that could join a video call or be penpals with my scouts!
Let me know if you're interested.
Thanks! Isaac
Complete with a KISC woggle and a handmade sporran woggle a Scottish scout made for me when I was there. It’s not rolled nearly as tightly or neatly as it could be but I haven’t ironed it yet because it’s going on my wall with the others so this will do
Hey Guys,
I was kind of shocked the website georgspunkte.de ist not available anymore!
For everyone else, this page was kind of a Dating Site, which showed you how much Role is worth in so called Georgspunkte. The german katholic (even tho we are luckily mostly independent from the Church) DPSG (Deutsche Pfadfinder*innenschaft St. Georg) has its Patron St. Georg, and therefore we call these Points after him.
This organisation is split into a Bundesverband (highest Instance), Diözesen (like "States") and Bezirke (geografic groups with up to 30 different "tribes").
The Georgspunkte now shows you how much your position is worth. If you're for example the leader of a Diözese, have a woodbadge and maybe even a church role, you get around 30 and if someone gets to date this person or... well.. you know what I'm talking about, you can collect these points. It's more of an internal joke in our Organisation than an actual thing but for the Rovers it was always quite fun!
Now, after many years I checked and the calculator is gone!! Is here any German able to revive it? I'd be quite happy, if needed, I'd host the Website, no worries. But the Domain is quite expensive as it used to have some traffic.
Hi guys, I need your advice/thought on something. So basically I'm a design student and I'm doing a project around recycling tarp and all other kinds of recycled waterproof fabric. And while looking for different things I could do with it, for example a wood transporting bag, or a shelf for tents or lights.
I've always been going back to my idea of making waterproof shoe covers or something around waterproofing the shoes/the legs, and I'm asking you guys if that's something you as scouts would even use? Because I'm unsure of how useful and good of an idea it is as I've only been seeing shoe covers on alpinists or horseriders,...
Could you tell me if it's a good idea to dig into this project or if I should do something else?
Any other object or things you feel like you're missing when on camp is highly appreciated :) Thanks in advance.
I'm really curious about it!
Evening All.
Uk Scouter here. My eldest attends cubs at a different group than the one I attend. He has an upcoming session where the leader has asked the kids to buy some items to form some donation boxes for a charity. So far so good.
The problem I have is this charity the leader has selected is ropey at best and heavily politically charged. I certainly would not be caught dead supporting this charity myself.
I find myself at odds.
On one hand, I want to support my son in his scouting, and charitible works are so key to our scouting values.
On the other, by buying these items, and having him attend the session, aren't I showing support for this group, and a failure of conviction of values?
What would you do, if anything?
