Seeking In-Person Cuban Spanish Language Tutor

Hi everyone, does anyone know of any female Cuban Spanish-speaking teachers who would be open to meeting in person for lessons? I’m specifically looking for a Cuban teacher because the dialect is unique compared to other Spanish-speaking countries. I was born in Cuba, but after living here for most of my life, I feel like my speaking skills are slipping. I tried searching for one but haven’t found any that are specifically Cuban.

Silly Question

So I just moved to Scottsdale and I’ve never been on the west coast. I was sitting on my balcony and saw a white flash and then a loud bang. It scared tf out of me. Was that a thunderclap? Or am I dying?

Dark/Moody Scottsdale restaurant with BOOTHS

I'm planning a special romantic date night in Scottsdale and would really love suggestions for a classy restaurant that allows one to sit side by side in a booth environment. Not a banquette, something cozy and somewhat private. -Any specific suggestions?

Batteries

Hey y’all! I have been collecting old/expired batteries and have no clue where to dispose of them. Any nearby recs that don’t require me driving super far? Live near McCormick ranch for reference. Everyone I’ve asked says they just throw them away which is not something I want to do. Thanks!

Jeep Mechanic in Scottsdale

Hey, I live in Scottsdale, AZ & I am looking for a mechanic who will change a clock spring. I already purchased the part. It's a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I can't afford dealership prices & I understand some mechanics don’t take customer parts. Any help will help greatly appreciated.

To the Cox Internet subscribers (slow speeds since end of Oct 24)

I live near Scottsdale Airpark - we have had 3 or 4 outages from Cox Internet service in the last 3 or 4 weeks. Each time, the Cox app reflected immediate knowledge of this "unplanned" outage (*Which is weird, I'm always faster to letting them know there's an issue).

In any event, service has been SLOW since the last 10/23 outage. I pay for giga (1000 Mbps) but I'm seeing 1/4 that now, around 240. The stupid AI chat thing is telling me to move my equipment closer to the ONT device and other nonsense....

Anyone else in this area seeing slower speeds since about a week ago?

Thanks...

*Weird. They also been resolved right at the minute of the estimated time for these recent outages. I suspect they were a little more planned than they're saying, or they are playing games with the wording.... sure that piece of equipment failed unpredictably but the outage to replace it is scheduled as part of the repair.

Last minute pumpkin?

We had a last minute addition to our Halloween fiesta. Each year, the kids get to carve a pumpkin and winner gets a prize. I've called around to the super markets, big box stores, hardware stores, pharmacies, but everyone seems to be sold out in Central Scottsdale and PV. Any idea where to get a last minute, regular orange carving pumpkin so this kid isn't left out?

Eye Doctor?

Hi everyone, does anyone have an eye doctor they recommend? I think I just need an eye exam. I noticed I can’t see far away as good as I used too, and I’m getting headaches, which I think is because of my eyes! Also, if anyone knows what a standard eye exam costs out of pocket that would be helpful, I just added vision to my health insurance plan but it doesn’t kick in for a while.

NYE with 18+

Looking for info/ideas on fun things to do on NYE in the Scottsdale/Old Town area with our adult kids. However our youngest is 18 and I'm not finding anything other than 21+. Any suggestions? I've heard there are fireworks and a street party but I'm not sure what that includes or if it's just the bars in the area that have 21+ events? Would prefer to be in this exact area, but if there are other areas nearby with 18+ open to those suggestions as well.

What to do if I see someone stealing political signs?

Witnessed a truck driving around stealing political signs in multiple neighborhoods. I have the license plate but not sure what actions I could take. They almost hit one of my neighbors with their car while driving recklessly.

Biking route to Saguaro Lake

Bike route to Saguaro Lake

My brother in law is coming from out of town and working on training for a half iron man.

He was curious if he could bicycle from Shea near the 101 through fountain hills and down the beeline highway (87) until he hit Saguaro lake.

Is this doable? Is there enough space along the Beeline for a biker? Are the hills in Fountain Hills doable?

He’s in decent shape and would have a car waiting at certain checkpoints to make sure he’s doing well.

He asked my opinion and, while I know that route does indeed take you to Saguaro lake, I have no idea if it is doable on a bike.

Thanks!

PCP Recommendation?

[26F] I just moved down from flag and have been neglecting going to the doctor until I was less busy. I need to find a primary care doc down here, does anyone have a recommendation? Really need to get lab work done and allergy tested. Also while we’re at it, a good gyno too? 😅

Where to find nurses for new business?

Hi, does anybody know good messaging boards, forums, or websites to get in touch with local nurses?

I’m starting a new venture with a few partners and we are considering different business models, one of which would rely on a fairly substantial nurse network.

I’d love to find 4-5 nurses (most likely RN level) that would be interested in talking about a side-gig. We want to learn what would be attractive in terms of flexibility and compensation.

Thank you all!

PS: Value add for the locals: Check out Checo’s Taco Shop; finally a really good Mexican spot in south Scottsdale!

Classical Pianist(Accompanist) for Jamming/ possible gigs with classically trained violinist

Hi- I’m a classically trained violinist living in Scottsdale. Many years have gone by since I was at my peak but I’m back to practicing now.

Would love to play some easy classical, possible pop tunes for gigs etc. wherever it takes us. I’ve played 100’s of wedding in my time. Not sure I want to do that again but it’s possible. Just looking to reconnect with the wonder of music.
