seller also said they were communal? expos are hard to trust- thanks in advance!
How did you find the women with this placement? People with it too, have you always attracted scorpio people sm/stalkers and obsessives.
Can I feed mealworms, and if so, how many and how frequently for an adult? I also want to know the best way to keep the enclosure the correct temperature. Thank you!
Like the title says, found this tiny (about 2 cm) scorpion in our room in a house. Any ideas on the species? Sorry the pic isn't better, they stretched out and ran away pretty quick.
I have extensive exotic care experience, but have never owned a scorpion. I am wanting the largest species possible and hopefully more on the docile end. We have the possibility and space for a very large enclosure and would enjoy the idea of cohabitating but that is not required.
I would really love pandinus imperator or even another pandinus species but can't seem to find any even if I'm willing to fork out the higher price.
Then I looked for swammerdami and seemed to have the same difficulties.
Now I'm considering settling for a variety of heterometrus. I'm wondering if it's worth finding the exact subspecies I would like or if I shouldn't really bother?
After looking at a much of the same couple subspecies I found a few heterometrus longimanus available. I can't figure out, are they larger than the slightly more common heterometrus I see everywhere? Are they more aggressive? I'm kinda digging the longer claws and also the obvious difference between male and female in the claws.
If anyone has species recommendations or leads, or if there is a big, bulky species I'm not thinking of let me know 😊
My ts no issues with worms but i for some reason always worry with scorps, usually feed superworms or dubias. But can they “enjoy” the squishier foods?
I’ve got two AFS scorplings, still pretty small but with their adult coloration. I was just given some really small dubias, can I feed them live to my scorplings, or is that a recipe for heartache? Thanks!
If ur wondering arizona bark and dessert hairy
Hi there !! I have an emperor scorpion coming in by way of Petco (my roommate works there so gets discounts). I've got the enclosure mostly set up, soil half-moistened, small heat pad on the side, CFL UV bulb a safe distance from the tank. It's staying perfectly in temp and humidity ranges. The only thing missing is a plant !! I'm looking to go to the local nursery with my amateur botanist friend to pick something out. Do you have an reccomendations? Are there plants to avoid?
My coworker found them yesterday taking apart a pool pump He's about the size of a dime
Hi all. So back in July my wife got me my first scorpion, an Asian Forest Scorpion. It is currently being housed in a 10 gallon aquarium. It has taken up residence underneath a piece of cork bark, and I have never seen it come out from underneath. I do check on it twice a day, I’ll shine a little light underneath and it’ll almost always be in a different position. I have kept tarantulas for almost two years now, so I do have some invertebrate experience. I know most tarantulas will go into hiding when they have a molt coming up soon, and not to disturb them. I assume that this logic applies to scorpions too, but I wish I could see if it’s been eating at all lately or if it looks well fed (it’s usually either facing me and I see the pincers or facing away and I see the tail). How long should I wait before checking on it?
Hey guys I just got a pet scorpion and don’t know much about care . I have tarantulas so I have basic bug care knowledge but anything extra information would be appreciated! And I moved him into a bigger tank already. 10 gal fish tank coco substrate, water bowl small live plants and bark cave set up so far . Thanks! 🙏 🦂
Recently bought my first baby scorpion after years of wanting one! Turns out, I’m subconsciously TERRIFIED of them😅 Every time I see her move I flinch, which is crazy to me because I’ve always loved inverts and I’ve had millipedes, tarantulas, and a ton of random backyard bugs as pets in the past and never experienced this.. I love her to death and I think she’s adorable, but wow my nervous system panics when I see her😭😭
Idk it’s random but funny to me, have ya’ll experienced something similar?
I've been keeping tarantulas on and off almost all my life, and my sister had 2 Emperors. Recently (yesterday) I got an Asian Forest Scorpion and had a few questions
He's digging at the moment, but whenever I even touch the lid to open the cage he darts back into his hide. Is this because of the new scenery? Will he be more comfortable over time?
Are they as sensitive to vibrations and noises as tarantulas?
Do they always look like a swollen balloon when he's about to molt?
Is it okay to put a sponge in his water dish to keep it from evaporating so quickly?
Those are my biggest 4 at the moment. I don't know how old he is but I know he's not done growing and will probably molt a few more times. I hope he's more comfortable, he has 2 hides and is excavating the smaller one to his liking
Thinking about it would it be put and about or hide in a hole only to emerge to eat? When in groups do they behave any differently do u see em more or do theu just hide together?
