I took a few classes in fall of 2020, but i was 18 and young and dumb in peak covid times, and kind of just stopped going instead of properly pulling myself from the classes. Now I am looking to go back to school at a community college in my state starting the fall semester of 2025. I called the school I was enrolled in and was told I was marked as having failed 2 classes.
My question is, will I still be eligible for scholarships? Is it feasible? Did i significantly screw myself over in receiving any sort of financial aid?
I’m a first-year Hagan scholar, and I am opening my personal Schwab account. For source of funds for my brokerage account, what do I select? The Hagan instructions say select general investing for the purpose of the account, but nothing about what to select for sources.
Please help as I can't afford the 13000 down payment !
hi everyone i’m new here. i currently have an associates degree and am finishing up a certificate program i’ve been in for the past year. i would like to go back to school in the spring or next fall semester for my bachelor’s in digital media/graphic design. i’ve been applying to random grants/scholarships i find but no luck. does anyone have any tips or specific resources for scholarships or grants?? i am thinking about attending uvu in utah, but i’m open to other utah schools or even online degrees. anything helps, thanks!!!!!
Hi, I am currently a senior at FSU and have 108 excess credit hours and 116 total hours earned, not including the 6 credit hours from this semester. I also have the Bright Future Scholarship. I thought I would be over my credit hours for this scholarship as I am currently over 120, but after emailing financial aid they said I still have 22 credit hours available for this scholarship. I was wondering if this is still true, I am a little confused about what credit hours they are basing this off of and do not want to have to pay out of pocket for more credits.
Hi Folks, I am looking for any scholarship in UC. If anyone has any success please share experience.
My major is Bio and I want to peruse career as Doctor. I am very good at academic as well extra circular activities. I am newbie I google but there is a lot of info available so I need some guidance where I should spend time and apply so I can be successful.
What did yall say for the first SAQ, what do you think Calvin Coolidge’s biggest legacy was?? Just curious
I said that I felt he paved the way for the civil rights movement’s growth through inclusive rhetoric and policy that expanded civil rights to minority groups!
I was curious if anyone knew whether the Coolidge Scholarship has a hard deadline for recommendation letters? The submission period just ended, at 12/11 5 PM PST, and my mentor unfortunately did not submit the letter, despite stating they would do so by the deadline. If they submit it late (assuming the recommendation portal is still open) will my application still be reviewed? The email that confirmed my submission said this:
"Thank you for applying to the 2024 - 2025 Coolidge Scholarship. We appreciate your interest. This email confirms your application has been successfully received.
Please note both your letters of reference must be received by the deadline for your application to be considered complete. If your references have not yet submitted their letters, please monitor their progress in the application portal."
It mentions that you must submit the letters by the deadline for your application to be considered complete, but I'm hoping that is just them trying to get everyone to submit it on time. Thanks!
anyone else here applying? I may have had a little cry yesterday because I thought my essays were disgustingly bad but hopefully they turned out ok. I know the chances are slim but I'm going to do my best to completely forget about it until the results come out (impossible.) I'll be back here once they're out 😬
Wishing everyone luck!! 🍀❤️
Hey everyone!
I’m a junior transfer to a SUNY university after finishing my associates at a SUNY cc. i currently have a 3.5 gpa and am expecting close to, if not, all a’s once the fall semester wraps up soon. my school has already offered my a merit scholarship for $2,500 for the year, but i’m still going to be around $2,350 short since my PELL will run out after the fall semester. i’m a history major and am having trouble finding scholarships that aren’t super specific to certain schools, majors, fields, and that are open to transfer juniors. any recommendations? getting desperate haha
I’m a 17 years old junior, biracial (African + White), lesbian, female, child of an immigrant, from Iowa. I also have autism and I suffer from multiple physical chronic illnesses. I have been applying and searching for scholarships since my freshman year but I have yet to win because I have only been able to find national ones with huge competition pools. I’ve been trying to find local scholarships or regional ones but I haven’t had any luck and finding any low competition ones in my area would be a lifesaver.
I mostly get A and B grades but I’ve gotten three C’s during my time here. They’ve been scattered throughout my semesters and I’ve never gotten more than one C in a semester. The lowest gpa I’ve gotten has been either a 3.3 or 3.2 which I know isn’t good. I’m just worried that even with the higher grades, this won’t be good enough because I won’t be able to pay for college myself. Any advice is appreciated, thank you.
I'm trying to find scholarships but for some reason, I just can't find a single one that applies to me. It's making me feel dumb because I feel like it really shouldn’t be this complicated, but I just can’t find a single scholarship that works for me.
I'm 17, a senior, 3.1 gpa, top 50% of my class, queer, I live in Texas, broke and was homeless during a decent part of my sophomore year. I've also been accepted to UTSA and plan on attending thanks to their UTSA-SAISD program.
This is the relevant criteria for scholarships that should apply to me, but I just can't find any. Please help.
I was finishing up my essays for the Coolidge scholarship. Anyone that's applied this year knows that they put an unusual emphasis on not using Ai at all, being disqualified if you use Ai, etc.
I didn't use any Ai whatsoever while I wrote these essays. Every single one of them I researched by myself, using the given sources and outside research. Some of the essays were about my personal goals and activities, so obviously I couldn't have used Ai for that.
However, when I used an Ai detector on my work, my essays came back as 30-60% Ai!! I've had this problem before (I don't know if my writing just naturally sounds similar to Ai or ??)
How do scholarships determine whether applicants used Ai? Am I cooked?
**ps, I ran the essay prompts through the detector as well, and they also came back as partially Ai generated ?
Hello! I recently submitted my application for this program and I was wondering what would be the next steps. I submitted the application but idk I js feel like it wasn’t enough like they asked me a few questions, a recommendation letter and that was it. Please if you know anything let me know! Thank you!
Hey, I recently won a bold scholarship but I haven’t committed to a college so I can’t send the money anywhere yet. Will I lose the money if I wait until i commit?
Hello I am looking for scholarships to fund a NOLS course. The total price is 18 k and I thought I have around 8k covered because of my Americorps award, but it expired. As a result I am applying and looking for scholarships to make up for the expirations of my Americorps award. I have only applied for NOLS financial aid, since I can't use federal financial aid or loans since I am not in school. Has anyone ever done a NOLS course and paid for the bulk of it through scholarships. I have been doing a rough search on my own for the past few week, but I want to get away from the generic and typical scholarship sites. Any ideas on where I might find scholarships that are not mainstream for graduating or recent high school students. Also I am 28 year old male, and am out of college currently working full time.
Hello! I will be starting my masters (social work) next semester and I'm looking for external scholarships. I'm a first gen student and also have a child. Does anyone know of any scholarships or websites for these populations? Thank you in advance!!
Edit: I'm also applying to graduate assistantships within my university but are there any of these available externally?
I was wondering if there is any scholarship that is still open and I can do over winter break?
Hiii y’all so I want to apply to this scholarship (planning to major in computer or electrical engineering) but my family’s income is right above the requirement for financial need. Is it still worth it for me to apply? Are there any past winners that had a similar situation?
A friend of mine nominated me for a scholarship on bold.org, and it's perfect for me! I have an essay already written and ready to submit..but, it keeps telling me to update my profile? I updated it many times, and no matter what I do, even adding what they require, it's still not letting me apply. I don't understand what I should do?
As a parent of an up and coming student, going through the scholarship application process on all these sketchy websites like scholarship owl, scholarship.org, bold, etc is making us crazy.
My daughter is rank 1, has a 3.95 unweighted gpa, scored perfect 5's on multiple AP exams, is going into stem/healthcare, yet cant seem to get a single scholarship. To us, this seems like a total racket. There is no reason this should be so hard.
The US already has a centralized financial aid site, why dont they use that to handle scholarship applications? They could have each scholarship registered there and the students could apply with a single click. The group providing the scholarship could read the fields based on their selection criteria (glad i dont have a son, they dont seem to get anything aimed at them), and we could actually get people much needed help.
Instead we have these sketchy looking sites that are hard to trust, asking for financial information, while simultaneously hearing all these organizations claiming that billions in scholarship funding went unallocated. They act like people arent applying or something!
Current HS senior in NY and have been playing the sax since I was 9. I've been first chair in almost every group I've ever been in, Ive been to all-county multiple times, and scored 99 on a level VI NYSSMA solo (those who know). I'm super involved in lots of our programs and ensembles, and I'm definitely playing jazz in college.
Im a freshman in college right now and I'm not really doing too great GPA wise (the year started off pretty rough) I know its going to be hard to get scholarships like that, but I feel bad because my parents are paying for my tuition and I think if I got some scholarships it will make them trust me that I can do better
Are there any art or essay scholarships I can apply for that arent super strict on GPA requirements? I have no idea where to start at all, but literally even a small amount would help 🙏🙏 Thank you
I receive FAFSA and my SAI is -1600. Currently in my sophmore year and FAFSA covers everything, but I know in my junior year and onward it won't. Can I apply for scholarship money now? If I do, can I use this money now for things like car repairs (my college is only commute-able by car), an electric scooter/bike for my transfer university, a better laptop, food, etc...? I wouldn't use it to buy anything frivolous. Can I also save this money for incoming semesters?
Also, is it common for scholarships to want to use your photo as they please? And to attend workshops and coaching meetings and stuff?
Thanks!
Hey everyone, I started a scholarship earlier this year to offer a one-time award amount of $500 to a different applicant each year. The amount was based on what I thought my endowment could return in the stock market every year. Now I'm wondering what the lowest common scholarship award amount most likely is.
If you consider the entire universe of educational scholarships that award either $250, $500, or $1000, what percentage of them would you estimate each respective award amount to be?
Thanks!
I feel bad for adding to the format of "Is [x] good?", but I'm legitimately curious when it comes to this platform, since I haven't found much about it. The concept seems cool, but the actual application site is buried in the Google search results, there are only a few reviews for their app and Chrome extension (that are really recent), and I can only find one person here who's posted about the site. I'm just curious, have any of you used them or won money with them?
I won a scholarship off bold and they keep sending me texts to give them my financial aid details so I don’t lose the money. I’m confused because I already sent an application for a bold card to receive my money on. Anyone know what’s going on?
