The desperation for sales with the mini season ticket plans 🤣

Oh poor Wave, you should have separated from toxic trash Ellis long ago. The damage is done! Hopefully the big transfer fee for Girma makes up for all the ticket sale loss!

How do we rate the Wave off-season?

I think it has been a very mixed off-season.

We managed the Girma situation well and when you can get a world record transfer fee, we have to give the club credit. I think we started the process of refreshing the squad.

I think the manager decision was the worst kept secret. Once he was gone from Arsenal the writing on the wall was that he was coming to the Wave.

However, I don't think we have done enough on the recruitment side. Do I think we're a better squad than last season? Probably not but I do think with some of the players having a little more experience we should be better than we were last year. If we can make the bottom half of the playoffs that would be a success this season.

Interested in what others think and how they think we will do this year?

2025 SD Wave Schedule is out!

Check out the 2025 schedule, I'm really excited that we don't have any noon games in August! I was worried needing to share stadium with SDFC that we wont have any Saturday games but we do! May 25th will be the Shaw home coming game, bring popcorn and tissues too!

Lyon joins Naomi Girma transfer battle with record $1 million offer for USWNT star:

Lyon has offered a $1 million transfer fee for San Diego Wave center back Naomi Girma, sources briefed on the ongoing negotiations told The Athletic. If accepted by the Wave, it would be the new record for a transfer fee in the women’s game, previously held by Racheal Kundananji for her $862,000 transfer from Madrid CFF to Bay FC in the NWSL. Other European teams, including Chelsea and Arsenal in the Women’s Super League, are interested in Girma with ESPN reporting Thursday that Chelsea was leading the way.

Lindsey Horan ??

I just realized/learned that Horans bf (now husband) works for San Diego FC...what do we think the odds are of her playing for wave at some point? 👀

(I know it's a bit of a reach but just wanted to throw it out there for funsies! And regardless of what you might think of her as a player or her skill or whatever...just in general her reputation/background would be interesting 🤷🏻‍♀️)

Girma heading to Europe?

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2024/dec/28/womens-football-10-players-move-january-transfer-window It definitely feels like something big may happen in January.

If we were to sell Girma and bring in 2 or 3 quality players then I think I would be okay with that. This team is in the beginning of a huge rebuilding phase and I wonder whether that fits with what Girma is looking for.

I'd hate to lose her on a free transfer.

Jill Ellis Appointed FIFA Chief Football Officer

With all the work placement harassment allegations hanging over her head, happy that she’s moving on from SD. With all the struggles of so many national teams (Spain, Jamaica, etc), this doesn’t bode well for the international game.
