Long ago in a distant land, I, Aku, the shape shifting master of darkness, unleashed an unspeakable evil. But a foolish samurai warrior wielding a magic sword stepped forth to oppose me.
Before the final blow was struck, I tore open a portal in time, and flung him into the future where my evil is law. Now the fool seeks to return to the past and undo the future that is Aku.

I'm curious to know how long Jack was looking for time portals in the first four seasons of the show before the final season where Aku eradicated last of them, leaving Jack Stuck in the future with no way to get back to the past for 50 years. Before season 5 how many years did Jack spend trying to get his hands on a way home?
I'm asking out of curiosity, but the DC comics are canon for samurai Jack? I already know that IDW aren't canon (litteraly Gendy himself stated it) but he was referring also for DC comics?
That is the Question
What do you consider the 10 Best Samurai Jack Episodes and why how awesome or how heart warming or how hilarious they are or a mix of the 3
And what Episodes take 1st, 2nd and 3rd place are they really that good? And what makes them so Special compared to the rest and what Episode you think shows what the Series is all about the best?
And what other Episodes not in your top 10 desrives a mention or two?
As bonus Question: what do you think of Genndy Tartakovsky post Samurai Jack work like Sym Bionic Titan, Primal and Unicorn Warriors Eternal how far Genndy Tartakovsky has grown as a creator
Anybody else like to think or head cannon if you will that the thief in season 3 was dexter lmao the whole episode I kept thinking “hey that’s a cool dexter” and I also think the real dexter would have schooled jack but especially what made me geek out was when he teleported like dexter in the end. Is there any theories about the thief? I know its based on an old anime but i mean anybody ever ask who he was?
The Siberian Volanic Traps caused a global extinction event in the prehistoric Permian - releasing black and fiery lava rivers and poisonous gases all over the planet. Tall, towers of layered lava exist today of that time period. Artistically and lore-wise, Aku fits that description.
Artistically, Aku has flaming eyes and a black fluid body, similar to how molten lava is black, fluid with flames.
Lore-wise, Aku originated as a black, extinction level goop that consumed dinosaurs, continued onto the icy Siberian region near Japan, and would form tall, spiky spires. The goop was invincible similar to how lava is literally untouchable.
In even deeper lore, Aku´s original form came from and was chipped off the original, concept of death that consumes the universe but was pushed back by deities. Just as lava destroys in order for new life to flourish, Aku represents this aspect of the natural cycle and the natural function of lava. This is why the deities cannot attack Aku directly, for Aku holds both a metaphysical and physical role.
Interestingly, aside from sword wielding Samurai Jack, the only entities capable of harming Aku are other physical elemental entities and a titan stone robot samurai aka another elemental entity.
Also, this would explain how Aku was able to imprison and keep alive the Viking for Millenia in a lava and diamond chamber. This would also explain how Aku was able to disrupt and defeat the armies of other deities. They were fighting an extinction event volcano.
In a gamble, Aku was made sentient by Jack´s father using what´s basically Japanese mythology of making inanimate objects sentient. This gamble allowed Aku to be conversed with directly. Perhaps a commentary on how humans converse, deny, negotiate and enhance with nature through technology. Certainly, we advance in technology to offset natural death. In a similar vein, Aku fostered an advanced technological world.
Continuing with lore, this then explains how Aku granted Jack eternal life. Aku accidentally transformed Jack into an embodiment of life. Since Aku is a dual metaphysical aspect, where life becomes death to become life again, he granted Jack the aspect side of life. Part of Aku´s power stems from being an aspect of rejuvenating natural cycle, so to keep his power, his life, he made Jack assume the other side of the role. This is why lore wise, Aku is depressed when he verbally realizes he gave Jack eternal life and would forever be chased by him.
Aku was able to hold his place by being part of the natural life cycle. But he aspired to be a world ending threat - even a multiplanetary threat though he never went beyond Earth. As a metaphysical entity of that cycle, he was able to converse with the space lions who represented the hunt-prey cycle. They conversed with each other as equals and even amicably, as non-threats and potentially aligned. Its notable then that the space lions, both in the original series and later series, hindered Aku´s attempt at world destruction. Reasonable since to hunt you need living prey and also Jack was the hunter to Aku being the prey.
Aku as a physical menace was feared by many. But he postponed the completion of the cycle. But evil always cannibalizes itself. It was only until a daughter of his, covered in volcanic coal, opened the portal for Jack and thus completed the cycle of life overtaking death.
This explains why the original ending had what was once a one tree field become a flourish blossom forest. In a more human sense, just how Jack learned from his negative experiences into a better person, it also represents the cycle of learning.
Another piece of evidence of Aku being an ancient entity living in an ancient volcano, is Aku´s indepth knowledge of ancient deities but requiring him to acquire their powers not inherent in him. He was there as long as they were, but not like them, requiring him to gain skills.
So in summary, Aku is the made sentient or animated (heh) ancient concept of death infused within the cycle of the concept of life and role of an extinction event super volcano.
when the song hits - absolute cinema
The song in question plays at the end of episode LII "Jack and the Baby"
What the title says. Feel free to make a top 5 characters he could defeat from DC Comics and top 5 from Marvel, or whatever.
Especially at the end of the episode where they gave him a lot of seafood for his journey.
Whenever I do eat shrimp, I always have the imagery of him eating seafood with enthusiasm.
Sounds weird, but it just happened one day, several years ago. Since then, no shrimp shells go to the trash bin anymore, I just eat and savour the whole thing.
Who else cried when Ashi vanished into jack’s arms? 😭💔
