I've been searching for ages and can't find a paperback online for a reasonable price or a pdf can anyone help?
I’ve seen lots for sale on eBay at reasonable and unreasonable prices. as a beginner are there any key things that I should be looking for before purchasing? Obviously, I’m aware that I should be looking for live pencil signatures. Was there a specific type of paper or stamp/embossing that was used?
Any other tips you might suggest ?
Was looking to get a copy of his official catalog, but those tend to go for more than the pieces themselves
I think I remember seeing a PBS documentary on Dalí where he burned a taxidermied giraffe. Anyone else remember this and have a link?
So this is a shameless self-plug, but I'm hoping it will be of interest to this subreddit. My new novel, In The Garden of Monsters (Mira Books, a Harper Collins imprint) comes out tomorrow, Tue 9/24. It's a retelling of the Hades and Persephone story, but it's told from the point of view of a model that Dalí brings to Italy's Sacro Bosco garden of stone monsters in 1948. The garden is real, and Dalí really went there. He filmed a little 3 minute movie there, which was part of the inspiration to include him in the story.
Here's the book details: https://www.harpercollins.com/products/in-the-garden-of-monsters-crystal-king?variant=41338079772706
I also created a page to explain the garden, which can be accessed here. And a page about Dalí which is here. Both pages include the movie.
In the novel, I did my best to capture his and Gala's personalities. I loved diving into his 1973 cookbook as well as their interest in the tarot.
Researching him was absolutely fascinating, but I know you know that already! At the Dalí link above, I include a list of resources that I used, in case you want to expand your TBR pile further.
If you want another opinion on whether or not the book is worth checking out, here is the AP News Book Review too.
Hi Reddit,
My mom text me the other day saying that she got a framed Salvador Dali lithograph (461 of 500) from someone. She said whoever they got it from got it from an auction house and that is framed with matting and she wants to know how to figure out this things value. I do not live within 1000 miles of her so I've not seen this myself.
She does not have a certificate of authenticity and I'm not sure how she knows it came out of an auction. She lives in the greater Detroit area and is just looking for advice on how or who to talk to about verifying it and its value.
Does anyone know how to approach this situation? Do I tell her to call any a random auction house or art gallery? Or is there a way to tell where the actual one is and therefore know that this one is a replica or something. To be honest I don't know enough about this space to even know the right questions to ask. So any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
I have really crazy dreams and have always enjoyed Dalis work. I am wondering if I should draw out my dreams into his art style? I am not much of an artist though. They sometimes are nsfw in a non consensual way. Is that too dark to draw/would I have more nightmares, or would it give me less?
If not is there anyone I could commission to draw them for me? (not the nsfw shit obv.) (Ex would be: blue giant jello square, black ladder, white baseball, old victorian 2 tower castle, concrete park with many people, etc.)

I have loved Dalís work since childhood and recently visited one of his exhibition. His work has always inspired me to think outside the box, and I finally decided to get a tattoo of one of his classic symbols.
I remember a story I read/heard years ago but cannot not find anything about it now. I am hoping someone here may know if it’s an urban myth or if I am remembering the wrong names.
As I recall Dali had a friend(author?) who wanted him to create a piece for him. Dali finally relents and invites him to the beach where he draws him a picture in the sand. He then sits with him and drinks as they watch the tide come in and wash it away.
Was this Dali, or someone else, or a made up story from a tv show/movie?
Hello everyone,
I recently came across a Salvador Dalí watch, and I'm having trouble finding any information about it online. The watch features unique design elements that are reminiscent of Dalí's surrealistic style. However, I haven't been able to find similar pieces or any information about its origin, value, or rarity.
Has anyone here seen a similar watch or can offer insights into its background? Any help in identifying its significance or would be greatly appreciated!
Hello everyone This summer I visited Dali's Theater Museum in Figueiras in Spain.
I wasn’t sure about getting a fan with "Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee Around a Pomegranate a Second Before Awakening" for this girl. Since then I tried to find it online or contact the museum to get it. It was around 15-20 euros.
For now it didn’t work out so I'm sending that bottle to the sea and if someone goes by that museum and is willing to help it would be really cool !
I wish you a paradoxical, eccentric and concentric day.
Struggling to find the name of this piece and wondering if anyone would know it's name in this sub?
