Yes, I am 100% fully aware that clippers and trimmers are final sale. I lose my breath explaining it to the customers every time. HOWEVER, my manager allows us to only exchange them IF they put a protection plan on it. Even if the clipper or trimmer is already used. But we can’t give them their money back. I recently did an exchange for a customer that put a warranty for his Wahl Peanut Clipper & Trimmer. The machine was used and he said it doesn’t shave very well like he wanted it to. Point is, I already put it in the hazardous bin behind the register. When I do damages and the weekly accumulation inspection when I come back to work, do I authorize destroy on the Wahl Peanut? or do I have to report something first for it? I’m asking because I’ve seen cases where instead of “destroy” I see “warehouse” but this time it says “destroy.”
Anybody know what’s going on? I’m scared they’re getting rid of it ;-; hasn’t been sent to my store in months
sooo i applied for sally beauty about a week ago, on halloween. i went in there to shop and talked to an employee and asked what the job was like, she basically said it's good money because they're understaffed as hell and she works 30 hrs a week, basically manager hours but she's a regular employee.
she said the people that work there aren't bad, there's not drama, the manager isn't bad, etc. the store is usually dead and you're usually just bored and sitting on the bench outside. based on what she said about hours and being understaffed i figured i'd apply cuz i hate my current job and need something around 20 hours a week.
im fine with working more hours than i need because i need money and im fine with being paid less than i do now (17/hr) as long as i just leave this job lol. but based on the fact that they're really understaffed, i have my cosmetology license, and a year and a half experience in beauty retail i think im qualified
Is it just me or do they keep adding more things that you have to do. Like at my store if we are 100 dollars or less from meeting goal for the day we have to stay open at least 15 minutes after closing to get more money in which I think is kind of crazy. But they aren’t even paying us for that time we have to go in later on our next shift to even out the time but I feel like that’s unfair to us because some of us have plans afterwards. Like this one time I didn’t stay because I had movie tickets and the AM got mad at me.They are also now forcing us to be CCs and take the test and my manager keeps giving us papers to go study at home but I don’t understand why we have to do all that and still get paid the same. I would’ve been totally excited to be a CC if it weren’t for the fact that I am in college and already have to worry about studying for my classes but now this too?
I started working at the local Sally Beauty Supply store, hmm, about a week ago. I've clocked in a total of 10hrs. Yesterday was my third day, and because I didn't know how to get around the tablet or log in correctly, my SM spent my entire shift being a first-class b*tch to me. Talked to me like I was a third grader all day.
As a BA I get less than part-time hours, at minimum wage...no benefits, no insurance, no PTO, and no holiday pay, and the only perks are related to their products. I've also seen the only three employees I've met so far say crappy things about each other when the other one is out of the room. Everyone seems so two-faced, and catty. They're also consistently down my throat about UPT and getting every customer's information,
I've been in other hostile work environments before, but I've been their THREE DAYS. I haven't even gotten a paycheck yet. I hope that things will get better after I learn my way around the system, and then maybe they can be a little more patient with me.
What do you say?
Recently let go and had some unused PTO, I live in a state where it’s not legally required for employers to payout unused time. Am I just SOL now?
Has any previous employees on here completed this before? Is there anything of value to it or can it be ignored?
I had a lady come in 2 days ago who was being rude, and unreasonable with one of my coworkers who doesn’t speak spanish well. She was trying to tell my coworker what she was looking for and my coworker slightly understood. Then the lady raged out of nowhere and asked my coworker if someone else was working, so she called me from my break to come and help her cuz she felt scared and uncomfortable around the lady. The lady then proceeded to tell me that this is a city where everyone speaks spanish that she should learn or be able to speak it. (keep in mind we live in a city where 85% of the population speaks spanish) I got pisssssed. I then told her “yeah but we live in the United States of America where there is no official language anywhere and anyone can speak any language they wish and nobody is obligated to learn a language they don’t know or want to learn.” She then tried to get me to reason with her that we shouldn’t hire people who don’t speak any spanish. I just ignored her from there on. She was being pretty discriminatory towards my coworker. I would literally defend those girls from any rude customer till my last day here. I didn’t like that at all. If she comes back will I get into trouble for refusing service?
How’s the work environment?
Going in for an interview. In a few few days. Silly enough I have actually never worked retail. Any tips you guys may have? Would love to hear. TIA!
Successes? Challenges? Do you love it or hate it? Do you think it’s too much information so early on? Your thoughts on the training plan altogether?
So my DM has recently started enforcing a policy where you have to have a 3.2 or higher in order to avoid a write-up, she says that one week of it being lower is a verbal warning, the next is a write-up, then another, followed by immediate termination. Curious if anyone else has experienced this lately or if it’s literally just her being insane? Should be noted that this policy is exclusively for part-time workers, apparently.
I struggle from pretty bad job anxiety but I love beauty products and loved Sally’s itself but OMG the management and HR was probably the craziest I have ever and will ever work for. I’m sorry if this is long but there’s a lot of lore lol. So when I started there was 1 manager and then 1 girl that had just been promoted to assistant manager and after about 3 months of her being asm she started having literal screaming matches with my manager in the middle of the store and then my manager went on a 2 week leave without telling anyone out of nowhere like she just ran out of the store one day and went on leave for 2 weeks after that the asm quit and we ended up getting a new assistant manager after a while the new asm got super overwhelmed with her job and we found out she was lying on her resume she was also sleeping at work to the point where people would have to wake her up like 2 hours into her being late for her break and our district manager never rlly did anything she was smoking weed and offering all of us weed in the bathroom when our manager wasn’t around and in a little bit of her being there she went on a 6 MONTH leave of absence during that absence one of my coworkers came out and said that she was taking to our assistant manager one day and our asm told her that if she ever wanted to she would be her “safe space” to try COCAINE?!? Finally once my manager heard that she went to our district manager trying to get the asm fired and they were about too until our asm came back and ended up pretty much gaslighting our district manager into letting her stay she’s incredibly manipulative and as soon as that happened my manager and her had lots of issues and my manager ended up going on leave for about a year up to when I decided to quit but as soon as my manager went on leave the assistant manager took control of the whole place and LITERALLY started doing cocaine in the work bathroom, in her car outside of work, having her dealer come to work etc. there was one time her and my other coworker that was doing it with her went to her car full of her little kids asked her kids to leave the car and me and my other coworker watched them both do blow with there kids outside in the freezing Canadian winter it was crazy, and once she was deeper into doing all that she got super controlling one day I was super sick and I hadn’t called in in months I hate calling into jobs cuz I have severe anxiety anywhere I’ll be fired so I do my best to do well and have good attendance but like I was dying sick so I called in for one day the next day I got into work to open and in the iPad saw an email from my asm to our district manager telling her that I don’t to my job and talking a bunch of shit about me and when I confronted my asm about it once she was there she literally apologized and told me she only did it because she was mad I called in and I just walked out and quit cuz I was done with everything
my last day at sallys was a week ago and my manager texted me saying my paycheck would be sent to the store and i could come pick it up but i dont have it yet. does anybody have an idea to when itll get there?
I've searched and searched. Does anyone remember the hair products sale last year?
Right now there is a Buy one get one half off sale.
I'm trying to strategize. Was Black Friday last year better? 50% off everything? Should I buy now or later?
I’ve been wanting to buy the new ION 8 in 1 styler. It’s a lot cheaper than the dyson. I recently sold one to a customer like a month ago and she hasn’t come back to return it (that i know of so far). Has anyone tried it yet? I have thick type 2C and 3A curly hair and I wanna know if it’s worth the buy before spending $200 on it😭
Hi out there, does anyone know the answer to this?
Hey there,
I have been using the ION heat protectant spray for a very long time. However, it has been out of stock for a long time. Is there an ETA on when it is coming back? It has to be one of the best protectants for my curly hair. I am super sad if it's not coming back. Thanks!
hi all, i recently posted asking about the opening process, update on that! it went well, i think i prefer opening over closing… only saying this because of what i will share below.
so today i was scheduled to close and i believe they were our last customer. they came in, paid with card, as i pressed send for the receipt to the email (assuming it would go through as it always does) the screen switched to a “change/void tender”. the customers were in a rush and left by the time it was noticed. my coworker and i tried to wave them down, but no luck. My SM was not in shift but i had no choice but to void it? I ended up calling my SM, they answered with “oh god, hello?” they weren’t very helpful overall and i ended up just paying for it. I’m not sure what else I could’ve done. I didn’t want the store to be out of money / be accused of letting customers steal. I’m not sure if anyone has had something similar happen to them? I just feel so defeated by the situation and lately the closing process feels so chaotic. I know i’m capable and can do it (i have before), maybe i just need to get a better hang of it? if anyone has any tips. that would be appreciated, maybe i’m sharing too much of the situation… i don’t want to get in trouble or lose my job with this all. thank you for reading, i hope everyone is well 🌟
has anyone had this problem 😟
so i’m an employee here, and i’ve always wanted to become an influencer. i saw that there was an option to become an affiliate and post content for them, and was just wondering if anyone else has done it? i’m having issues trying to create an account via cj. TIA
I would like to read through it but I cannot find it ANYWHERE. Thanks!
Just waiting for another profiling lawsuit at this point.
My mom’s FAVORITE shampoo has apparently become impossible to find. It’s the Ion Weightless Blowout Shampoo in the dark purple bottle. Her last resort when her favorite things go out over stock or are discontinued is buying off eBay… and it’s not even there! Seems like it’s been MIA for several months at least.
It’s still listed online at Sally’s, Amazon, Walmart… it says out of stock, but doesn’t say discontinued. The conditioner of the same line seems to still be available.
Anyone have info on its status?
I cannot find a way to contact ion customer service to ask (I sent Sally’s a message thru their website though…)
Also open to recommendations on similar products! She has fine, straight, short, bleached (but healthy) hair, and she is very sensitive to many products.
Hey i have a question. For zero counts/inventory corrections, does it have to be done only on Wednesdays or can they be started after processing the truck for the week/replenishment. What is the policy because it seems not possible to do the entire store when only three people are scheduled and we are confused at our store and can't find the policy lol
My local Sally Beauty store is hiring and I’ve been thinking of applying for the job. I’ve never worked at a beauty store, but I am familiar with the basics of cosmetology. I’m not sure what job positions they’re looking for… Could anyone here who works at Sally Beauty tell me their opinions/experiences working there? I’m very interested in the job, but I also don’t want to apply for a job I’ll end up regretting. Any help will be appreciated 🥹
Hey fellow sally beauty workers I was hoping someone could answer a question for me that I haven’t been able to figure out. How do we use our employee discount to shop on cosmoprof online? The application forum to even create the account is giving me a hard time since it will only accept a license number/ salon name.. etc etc. how do I create an account without being a pro? without the account I can’t even add anything into my cart. I would go In person but there isn’t a cosmoprof in my town only Sally’s and I’m scared that if I make the drive over there I still won’t be able to shop? TIA
I’m sorry this is a rant:
I love my job at Sally’s. Stocking inventory, learning about new product, & the trouble shooting through things have really prepped me for the future I have in cosmetology. For the most part in my opinion everything has been fine, I come in, I clock out & I talk to my coworkers and customers most of the time about day to day things like hair color & vibes (important detail: rlly neverrrr about my coworkers, besides once and I didn’t even say anything bad I just felt like we didn’t clique & I felt like she said something mean not significant and maybe occasionally about customers but never to any crazy extent).
I recently found out that I was a topic of convo amongst other employees from management from another employee. I have yet to say something, but I just feel like all I can do is back away and start looking for new jobs before it gets worse, since the dramas not worth losing a job over. rent won’t pay itself. I’m just frustrated bc I feel like they were my friends, and I loved talking to customers. I tried my best to be approachable which .. I felt like I was, which I guess not. Maybe I’ll be better working fast food😂
I feel so silly though because I love the people at my job, including customers and employees and I guess I was just tryna take my job serious which I guess is my fault for busting my butt for a min wage job🤒
I feel like I can’t even bash on anyone because at the end of the day it’s my fault for getting to close & saying to much (end rant)
