Hi all, for the past few years I've gotten my gf a volume of saga for Xmas, bdays, anniversaries etc we've very much enjoyed the journey together. But we're all caught up!
I'm hoping for suggestions for similar series or vibe. I'm big susuperhero guy but that's not her bag. We're both in our 30s so looking for something a bit more mature, with strong themes but fun.
What floats your boat?
I love this series with all my heart. And like the other things I love in my life, this comic has the power to make me crazy mad.
My daughter and I squish our cheeks together and say SQUIIIIIISH so this just reminds me of her a lot 🥹
please tell me it’s a joke 😭😭😭😭
Lying Cat Funko since he notice I was shush up about saga 🥰🤣
Anyone else think the Will would've abandoned his revenge quest against Prince Robot if he ever learned that IV killed Mama Sun? There's no reason for him to find that out of course, but it feels like the kind of thing that could take some of the wind out of his sails.
Imo it's especially interesting in relation to Ianthe's revenge quest, which the Will just escaped from at that point. Ianthe acknowledges her husband was just a bit player to the Will, and it feels like learning about Mama Sun could've given the Will a similar kind of perspective on IV. Granted, it's not like getting that perspective stopped Ianthe from torturing Billy either.
Who knows if it's something he'll learn in the future, when it's too late for that info to change anything. Idk if I would want that to happen, or if it's better as this kind of missed connection between them.
Prolly my fave tattoo on me. 😻
How could it have taken until NOW for me to see the visual pun on the Issue # 69 cover?
I'm slippin'.
Got this about a year ago. Artist insta is in pic. Got in Denver! So in love with it still.
so i’m new to the saga series & let me just say, i am IN LOVE 😍❤️
i read the first two on kindle unlimited on my ipad and was obsessed on the first read. i purchased the compendium (volumes 1-9) and then purchased volume 10 and volume 11 separately. my question is, is there more volumes available for purchase?
i cant seem to find a direct answer. tyia! 📚❤️
So I just finished #67 and Hazel confirms she's 12 and it's been years since Marko's death. How old was she when he died?
And imagine trying to caption these marvels for blind readers
Hi everyone! this is the first time I've shared a theory (and so extense) , but it's not the first time I've thought about one.
As an initial comment, I always read the criticisms and comments that everyone makes about each comic monthly, in particular I notice a lot of general criticism of this 2nd part of the story, doubts about where it is going, a lot of underestimation, impatience perhaps, but then today's comic (issue 70) I just saw the light, and I think I really understood what Brian was planning, from the beginning.
So, SPOILERS, of course.
I am going to begin by emphasizing this second section of the story, although the first is related. Have you noticed how characters in general make mistakes (or seek revenge), and then look for a way to redeem themselves (in case they feel guilty)? A double path of revenge and redemption marks Saga, right? They are at war, of course, but the war is reflected in their relationships more than anything.
Brian does a great job writing about this in the first part! : The Will manages to "redeem" or "processes" (in part, as his revenge continues) his sadness by saving Sophie (but killing Ianthe's husband, so the Road of Revenge is restarted) Gwendolyn "processes" her sadness by breaking up with Marko in The Will, and later in Shopie. Okay, there's a great pattern here. Prince robot, Petrichor, Ianthe, Upsher! (and his pacifism) and now Gale.
As in life, all paths fluctuate in that redemption (or self-redemption) where you become responsible, and that desire, in part, for revenge (or self-revenge, like Squire hurting himself), the role of victim, the desire to hold another responsible. So, what if there is someone in particular who can unwittingly redeem the paths of most of these lost souls? That's right, here comes Hazel, the "promising" young hope.
I don't remember the chapter, Hazel herself once said that sometimes you get attached to someone who reminds you of something about yourself that you lost in the past, hence the desire to preserve it, the same thing happened today in issue 70, when she said that the family is an asylum, which makes us repeat patterns when choosing new relationships. Alright! We have a great point.
All the people who knew Hazel, for some reason, those who protected her, decided to do so because in her they see themselves reflected, in a universe at war, Hazel is what they cannot be or could not be, Hazel reminds them . that although the war hurted them, deep down they are all that, FAMILY, FRIENDS, LOVE, REAL LIFE!!
As many new paths have opened up recently. For example: The Will, Gwendolyn, without Sophie, could their lives regain meaning? Yes, maybe for some reason, they see a redemption in Hazel (we remember that Gwendolyn hasn't stopped having nightmares about Marko, that means guilt, that is, a future search for redemption). Would it be unreasonable to predict that The Will and Gwendolyn could be Hazel's new guardians at some point? join the family?
Hazel was always the Final Sophie???
Let's remember how Prince Robot became an ally of his enemies, or Ianthe (who also intrigues me). Clearly we are in a reboot of redemptions and new paths of revenge.
ALSO (EDIT) Neither Hazel or Alana know who Marko's murderer is (Ianthe probably told them his name, since Petrichor was able to look for him later, but she must not have had photos of him, maybe that's why it took Petrichor 4 years to get to him, and I'm sure Petri saw him physically for the first time in #65) those who saw him that day died (Squire and Upsher had seen it but another day) . Basically this gives great support to my theory, if Alana or Hazel knew him, would they know that he was Marko's murderer?. If Hazel becomes close to The Will (or Billy in that case, maybe abandon his freelance name) in the future, knowing that he is her father's murderer could break her heart. I sense that it is important to change his name to Billy, to redeem himself from his past and what led him to Sophie, and I see him settling down, repenting for the deaths he caused, I wouldn't know if I decided to break up with Gwendolyn , but without his freelancer name, it would be more difficult to recognize him, it would be interesting if Hazel met Billy, and if she meets Petrichor again, she recognizes him and hesitates whether or not to tell the truth to Hazel (or any other character who recognizes him).
I don't know how Countess robot could fit into this, but anything could happen. If Countess doesn't decide to kill Will, but decides to pass him off as dead? or exiled, away from Gwendolyn and everyone? and there it would simply be Billy. It could be a good way for Countess, Will and Gwendolyn to come to an agreement, their breakup.
Lets recap. Alana and Hazel will be captured? with Emesis, or someone else? Squire would be away from home for much longer, at some point the robot kingdom could detect and recruit him, could that generate a political change? Squire seeking revenge or getting his family back? Redeem himself with his own people and his family, perhaps. Pretichor in prison, could meet Klara again, and this could give him the clue to save Hazel. Gale is clearly going to take the big prize in the capture of Alana and Hazel, but there will likely be torture (deaths, I don't want to predict anything, but Ghus and Upsher are almost dead) and that Director Croze, wanting to take the credit, nothing is going to end well.
All this to say, big things coming sooo soon, and Hazel and Alana will no longer be able to hide, this means a big change in the game with full more dynamics, and all the old allies may come to try rescue their friends, to protect that light of hope, and then, perhaps repentant old villains will join, since some have more power currently (Gwendolyn, and the alliance with the robots, besides, Squire and his posible new independent path) I don't know what you think, but this story is always so well written….
That's all for now, you can add your observations. THANKS for reading!!!!! greetings. Sebastian from Argentina.
Genuinely glad he became so much more than his father both in the way the character develop and with how the plot moves arround him
Issue 70 of Saga was released on Wed Nov 6th 2024. Please use this thread to discuss the issue. Spoilers up to and including this issue are to be expected.
My daughter is so talented. My commission work for her. She asked to do chores around the house for allowance. I told her what I really wanted was her artwork on my walls
Anyone have a working link to an up to date compilation of all of Hazel’s narrations in the comics? There was the person who put one together 5 years ago on watt pad, but their account is deleted now.
Stopped by my local store awhile ago. Someone had donated issues 7 - 35 in great condition. All bagged.
I only needed 7, 8, 9 and 25 but the shop wouldn't break it up.
I went back ye yesterday. Shop is now selling as single issues. Bought what I needed. Three 1st prints, one second. £3 each which feels like a bargain.
Hey, I’m new into comics and saw this and looks pretty interesting. As someone who only read Batman comics, is this a good series to branch out on? I’m a big novel reader thst read dune and red rising as well
Hey Saga fans! I was wondering if the comic series looks like it’s almost over cause I haven’t started the series but really want to but scared that i’ll never get to read the ending
Just… why.
The first wave of characters was a good representation of the main characters (and gave Lying Cat every variant you could ask for) but what characters would you want to see if they did another line of Pops?
For me, I think and updated Alana is a no-brainer and Hazel getting her own figure instead of just being a bundled up chicken nugget would be good. Gwen, Squire, Petrichor and another Ghüs would be my standard options. Maybe throw in an Upsher and Doff two-pack for good measure.
I was re-reading Saga and noticed the tongue-in-cheek joke about Cleveland.
Cleave = Cleveland (*Brian K Vaughan's hometown, and "Paper Girls" setting)
Izabel makes a joke "nothing more boring than people obsessed with their hometowns"
If anyone noticed more Cleveland easter eggs, please share!
Is it actually pronounced as "goose", or is it similar to how "Für Elise" is pronounced (which is kinda like the British pronunciation of deuce)?
