What is "safe food?" Safe food is a common term used by those with food anxiety or disordered eating habits. This subreddit was created as a place for those of us with such issues to talk about food, share recipes and support one another.
We believe learning to prepare your own meals/snacks is one of the cornerstones of improving your relationship with food.

I’m Japanese and I’m staying in Canada until January due to reasons. While I’m far more comfortable with food than I used to be, I’m still apprehensive about eating too much or just unfamiliar foods. A lot of things here (such as canned tuna) seem to be more caloric than back home as they have more oil, and the usual food items/specific products I get just aren’t available. These are some things I’ve managed to find that suit my needs well.
Tofu - I love soft tofu for its texture and mild flavor as well as it being quite light as a food. It’s also a good blank slate and I use it in things such as 豆腐ハンバーグ (hamburger steak made with ground chicken and tofu)
Monster energy (zero sugar)- there’s a huge variety of flavor here compared to back home and I love it. I got to try strawberry flavor too.
Yogurt - I struggled to fond yogurt I liked. The first fat free one I found was far too dense in texture for my liking and was some kind of greek yogurt. In Japan I always have the fat free option from a brand called Bulgaria and while activia is not the same it feels close enough.
Scallops - I love seafood in terms of taste texture and nutritional values but it’s hard to find things like (raw/frozen) tuna and other things I’m used to having. I wasable to find some things I like though.
Corn - I love putting corn in things, it adds variety and texture and gives me much needed fiber.
Minced chicken - I love chicken, it’s my favorite meat. I got the minced stuff to make tofu hamburg.
As miserable as I’ve been feeling, and as much as I wanted to be unkind to myself, today I was reunited with my beloved alpro yoghurt bowl, some apple, raspberries and cinnamon. I am at peace.
I miss strawberries tho- the season is really gone for them here.
Anyone have any nice winter-y yoghurt bowl ideas?
So far so good - I can only eat them with a ranch, but at least I’m getting them down. Never felt better! Feat. carrots, broccoli, turkey & cheddar, ranch, and an Oikos greek yogurt. 370kcal, 26g protein. Decently filling and 36% of my daily fiber.
I recently made a nice cashew milk hot chocolate by adding some cocoa powder and stevia, blending it with cashew milk and heating it! Add a pinch of salt so yum and comforting
Does anyone have other safe drinks I should try this winter? :)
So yumm and easy to make. I also add red pepper flakes and black pepper as i always do with all the food i cook :P
Spicy tofu, green beans and snap peas 💚
I didnt even love rice crispy treats that much pre ed but its an interesting nostalgia with these
When I saw the zero sugar soju, TRUST I had to get it. Also first time trying this konjac jelly!
This is kind of ugly visually lol but I had so much weird fun making it 😅
Tofu scramble on a bed of kale
Mini sized jerky packs, 50 Cals per pack. I’ve been having them as snack recently.
I’m not in a good place right now
I spent way too long working on this. Well, here’s my safe food mood-board. Welcome back to Instagram of 2016!
