Posted this in the regular Sacramento sub but realized they don't like this type of thread and was directed here instead.
Hello everyone. I am going to graduate from university this December and last week, in a spur of being spontaneous, purchased airline tickets to come to California in January of 2025. I realize how desperately unhappy I am in the state I am living in right now (I live all the way in the north-east) and how much I've always wanted to live in California since I was a pre-teen. The industry I want to get into, which is in tech, while there are some companies where I'm at right now, its a bit scarce since I live out near the countryside/rural areas; majority of jobs are geared towards other things. Not to mention, the people here are a little too conservative for my liking, and I don't mean any offense since I know we're heading into the elections season. But to be blunt, I'm honestly over it.
I have my portfolio to do UX Design, and I really also want to work in the video game industry. There's really no other state that has as much gaming companies than California, so that's another huge reason why I'm uprooting myself completely. I want to see if I can do UX in a gaming company, and I also have art skills that I'm working on too (I haven't made a portfolio for my concept art/illustration/game art but I will do that in the new year when I'm no longer busy).
I've contacted a couple of job placement agencies in Sacramento, but one told me that since I'm not physically in California yet, its going to be a bit difficult for them to help me. I am also lost at to which city in particular would be a good fit for me, since I want to go somewhere that has the most job opportunities in general. She also said that she see that I've had a couple of gaps in my resume as well as short term/season only work, which might hamper me to get even a regular office job while I settle down in Sacramento.
I'm working right now so I am saving money anyway for the move, but should I just bite the bullet and come to Sacramento without any job offers lined up? She still says I can send in an online application for their database and when something pops up in December, that they will make sure I can get a foot in before I come over in January. I'm at a point where I'll just take any crappy job if it means struggling for a while before I find a better paying role or something, but yeah.
I really just want to get out. I'm so unhappy in the state I'm living in right now. Thanks for reading.

Ok so I gotta make $700 within 2 weeks or I’m homeless and I’ve been unemployed for about two months and I’ve been working my butt off trying to get a job with no criminal background or nothing, I’ve went to temp agencies, applied online to a lot of different places, I lost my job due to some bs and so far I’ve managed to pay everything by myself with no help and honestly I’m just tryna do the right thing without doing some crazy shit so if anybody out there got any advice, feel free to let me know.
Does anyone know of bakeries or eateries hiring prep cooks or bakers in the AM shifts? I'm looking for shifts that end around 9-10 am at most and a low amount of co-workers present during my shifts.
I'm looking for these position because I'm immunocompromised and still high risk for COVID-19, so working in a heavy traffic and highly populated workplace is not optimal right now.
I've sold and served ethnic food and baked foods as a home cook for more than 7 years. I've been able to scale recipes and can adapt quickly. Thanks folks :)
Hello everyone! I thought I would reach out to my community for help. Things have been really rough financially like for most of us and I’m looking for some additional income on top of my full time job. I’m a licensed and bonded Public Notary and can provide my Notary Services to folks in the community. If you need affordable notary services or know someone that might, feel free to reach out and send me a message.

I am waiting for insurance before I begin truck driving, in the meantime I am looking for gigs to make money as I am running out of savings.
edit: preferably remote(don't want to pay these outrageous gas prices eating into my earnings)
I'm looking for someone who can install cabinets/countertops. I bought all the stuff for it but I don't know jack about installing it.
Caveat: I just want to be involved in the process. If you're willing to let me be a helper you're the one for the job.
It's four base cabinets and countertops (30 in with sink, 36 base cabinet, corner cabinet with cleats, 18 inch base--no wall cabinets we're putting up shelves later).
Any questions PM me. Interested? PM me how much you want for the job. It's a strange job I know. I'm an odd ball who wants to expand her knowledge of this stuff.

Hello all!
First and foremost, I apologize if this is not allowed or is considered low-quality content or spam as I am in need of assistance. Either way, thank you for taking the time to read:
My Background:
I have lived in the region most of my life and in the valley for my entire adult life. I am graduating next year with a comp sci degree in Cybersecurity as my major and a minor in information systems. Unlike a lot of undergrads, I am doing this to best align with my life goal of completing a 4-year degree after having worked in Operations and General Management for a local security company since 2018 until it closed recently due to financial loss from COVID and the owner returning to the military as a full-time job. I have worked since I was legally able to from the bottom rung up to handling ALL day-to-day operations for the owner of where I was working until this year. I am taking my CompTIA Network exam in my free time next week and expect to pass and prepare to work on additional certifications after Network+.
This means I do have some great communication skills, up to and including the strange enjoyment of technical and procedural writing and forms. Any background check, DMV, etc will come back squeaky clean for me.
In my personal life, I left a Domestic-Violence situation in late 2019 and have a lifelong criminal no-contact order beginning in March 2021 that has not been violated at all by my abuser. I will never go back and love the single life in my late 30's and hope to stick to it. I also suffered a TBI several years ago when I was attacked unprovoked while working security which put a delay on me finishing my degree until Fall, 2022.
The Need:
First and foremost I find it not to be shameful at all working in a non-leadership position, however, I cannot afford the basics of rent, etc once my savings runs out at anything below 19 an hour. I rent out a 4 bedroom from when I was married to my abuser and it is sadly cheaper than looking for a 2 bedroom for myself, roommate, and pets in the current market.
I really am looking for a company in the field I'm transitioning into (IT) and I don't care if it's an entry-level grunt role standing around all-day patching cables or repair work or working with customers. Too many employers see that I worked for security companies and treat tell me that my work history is not good enough for entry-level work or I must be a wannabe cop. For those who know security, I was trained almost 16 years ago in the no-contact/hands-off for any escalation and I enjoy handing out resources to the homeless and making an impact in their struggle to find housing, mental health care, etc.
If anyone knows of a place that is hiring, please let me know. I have already applied to the State and local agencies and due to my loss of income/ emergency savings being consumed I know this would be at best an end goal once I've stabilized. Each day for the past month, I've been putting in an insane amount of applications on multiple job boards, emailing from craigslist ads, etc.
What I can bring to the table for someone hiring
I have over 20 years working in every OS imaginable in both my work life, volunteering, and personal hobbies. I've worked in venues handling, installing, and troubleshooting not only network devices but working with Audio/Visual systems and live venues. I have worked with data migration in the database/application environment and am both formally educated and self-taught in the following languages:
I have worked extensively with the following popular software:
I am professionally trained in verbal de-escalation techniques, Account Management, Hiring, Firing, employee onboarding and training, Business day-to-day up to and including payroll management, collections, billing, Asset Control, Inventory Management, physical/logical security measures, OSHA compliance, EEO laws, and HIPAA.
I hold records locally in retail for being able to learn and test out entire workplace training modules in less than 8 hours with onboarding meetings included. I have a passion to learn that has gotten stronger with age.
Summary:
If you know of any IT or office-type workplace that is hiring for entry work let me know. Even if it's in the Bay area, etc. If you think I would be a good fit for a workplace, please let me know via pm, etc. Remote, in-person, I don't care at this point. To break even, I need to be able to make at least 19 an hour to cover rent, car payments, insurances, basic utilities, and food for working locally. I would need more to work out in the bay due to transportation obviously. Thank you again for taking the time to read and help if able.
