new for paddling, got some questions.
Where can i buy a good iSup? And what websites can i check before buy the boards?Do i need join a club or just play myself?
Curious what some others feel is the limit for paddling out in open ocean. It’s kind of a weird feeling looking back at the shore and seeing the cliff walls get small and begin to disappear on the horizon.
I didn't even think about this until today, but Sea Gods' site-wide sale also applies to their accessories (duh). That includes the Mustang Khimera PFD. Normally $215 USD, now $107 USD, plus $11 shipping. That's notably cheaper than the next best price I've ever seen for it ($140 USD). I just ordered one for myself. I've wanted one ages but couldn't justify the price until now.
I'll post pics/vids and my excitement of the new board in another thread. But for now I wanted to see if there are some tricks or things I can do to try to improve my stability on a 26" board.
Both my legs continuously "activate" pretty much all muscles when I'm on it, the entire time I'm on it, and this wears the legs out, fast. This doesn't happen when I'm on my 32". I can just plant my legs and chill. I can take all kinds of swell and ship wakes, so long as I position properly and see it coming of course. There was a day I was out in 4ft rollers. No problemo on the touring board. Today I got knocked off the 26" by a <1ft wake lol.
Only had it a couple days so it's all new to me but I'm re-learning how to stand essentially. Makes me feel like a noob again haha.
Today I noticed for short moments my legs would stop activating and then the board side to side rocking would stop. I'm not able to consciously do this of course, not on a consistent basis. So that's what I'm seeking advice on. This board is so much more fast and sleek. I just know if I can get the rocking under control it will be awesome.
Also what are some things I can do out of the water to work on this? One of those platforms on half a ball to balance on? Stretching? Etc.
Looking for tips from anyone who has made a similar board switch. Been paddling about 2 years now.
Currently planning on doing the crossing for cystic fibrosis next year in a relay team of 4. (80 miles from Bimini, Bahamas to Lake Worth, Florida.) Looking to pickup a relatively affordable inflatable paddleboard to train with that is 14 ft in length, then looking to buy something a bit more competitive for the actual race.
The reason for 2 is that my team all lives in apartments in florida with no storage for a huge board. We also want to be able to train together without spending an arm and a leg on a board.
Does anyone have any advice on what board to train with and what board is good for racing? The more affordable the better!
There is a ton of information there! Once you've read through the wiki, create a top-level comment in this post to ask for help! Posts made on this subject outside of this discussion thread will be removed and asked to post here instead.

I am really interested in the Hala Playa Carbon or EX models, and was wondering if anyone has any experience with them? Mostly going out in the Atlantic, so want something that can handle the chop but also ride some waves from time to time. I’m a little concerned as I come in at 6’2 and around 205 lbs, and the weight capacity for the board is listed at 220 lbs. Is it rigid enough for that not to be an issue, because the length and shape look great?
Was going to pick one pr two of their boards up although not seeing any deals on their site.
Good news is I was able to grab a couple Glide boards and score a free pump and more.
I plan to start winter paddling and bought a drysuit (Starboard Allstar) and a PFD (Vaikobi VXP). The PFD has two straps around the torso and the bottom one is supposed to be strapped really tight, so the vest can actually pull you up when submerged and not just float to the surface by itself. The drysuit on the other hand, is made from a bespoke material that is waterproof yet breathable, and has to be handled with care.
Now I wonder if I strap the vest really tight, like it's supposed to, won't it damage or quickly wear out the drysuit at the vest's bottom strap? Especially when it's rubbing there from the constant paddling movements. Or am I overthinking this?
TL;DR how to wear a PFD over a drysuit without damaging the latter
I want to upgrade the speaker I bring along while paddle boarding. Anyone have a favorite?
