experience of shipping inflatable SUP?

For shorter distances through UPS like 200 miles. Should I put in a box or just using the bag? Is there an extra charge for not using the box? Or bag + plastic wrap? Not too worry about things get broken.

Has anyone bought/tried the pelican loungeboard?

As you can see this this board is a brick. I'm very large, can't stand up on my board. (Yes I'm working to lose weight) But was curious to see if anyone tried this board and is it as stable as it seems.

I'm less concerned about going long distances as I am about just being able to stand and have fun.

How does using the stirrup method not flip the board?

I've only been on a SUP three times, on hardbound rentals at the end of last season. I've now got an inflatable SeaGods anxiously waiting for water temps to improve. I fell off a few times on the rental and of course getting back up was a struggle in a PFD. I've heard inflatables ride higher than hardboards so it could be even more of a challenge. I've read all the suggested methods for getting back up, and my brain can't comprehend how using the stirrup method doesn't just flip the board over. Is it really not an issue?

Northeast Paddling

Hey y'all! Two friends and I are intending on doing a weeklong paddling trip in the northeast. We're coming from MD, and hoping to make stops in New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire. Mostly single day ventures, we'll have two cars to park, so we can do one-way trips. But we'd also like to dip out toes in Expedition SUP, paddling out to an island to make camp, and returning the following day. If you've got any favorite spots, we're looking for advice! Looking forward to paddling with mountains in the backdrop :)

Any tips for lakes/rivers appreciated, thank you!!

Advice on painting bottom of SUP.

My paddle board has a design on the bottom I would like to cover up. I have been looking at different options. The one I am leaning towards is rubberised spray paint.

Had anyone tried this before?

Edit. Inflatable for those asking : )

Late autumn in New Zealand brings with it some glassy water

After a reasonably windy summer and a busy work period for a month and change I’ve really enjoyed getting back onto the water. I’m lucky to live next to a really good and sheltered bay which today had super clear and glassy water, was able to float over a bunch of rays, past seals, and generally have a great time out on the water.

Shark Sup Warranty

Hi, so I bought the Shark Touring 12.6x32x6 board. The purchase included 3 year warranty and I wondered if you have to apply somewhere so that the warranty is valid (or is it valid just by purchasing the board).

My first paddlin’ was a success!

Just got my iSUP on Wednesday, and decided the conditions were good enough to take it for a rip after work today.

I’ve only used a sup once before, and balancing was a bit harder than I remembered, but still managed to stand and get back down to knees a few times without going in the drink. Did a coupe laps of my town’s harbour.

Really looking forward to getting back out tomorrow/ Sunday (assuming it’s not too windy).

Anyways, any recommended learning resources? It was super hard to adjust my footing once i was standing.

Color Of Foam Transferring

Proud owner of a new (used) epoxy/bamboo SUP that I absolutely adore. The only problem is that the color on the foam piece was transferring onto my skin when I first picked it up. Any suggestions?

Surf Skates

Hey guys

Looking to add some land based training to improve my sup surfing.

I’m considering buying a surf skate specifically Carver.

Looking at the board sizes would something like 31 inches upwards be better to emulate the wider stance on the sup?

Electric Pump Proper Use

I bought two boards from Irocker and they both came with electric pumps. I'm trying to determine proper use for these pumps. When using the alligator clips on a car battery should the car be running or off while running the pump? Also can I hook both pumps up at once?

Red iSUP with windsurfing option leaking air through mast base connector – repairable?

The title says it all. Heard a sudden hiss coming from my board as it was laying in the sun, inflated. The air is coming right out of the middle of the connector, where the thread is. I wouldn't even know where to start with the repair. There's a huge foam pad on top with just a small hole for the mast base. Like this.

Is this something I could attempt to repair myself? Could a professional do it? Or do I need a new board?

Wheels

Heya. I just upgraded to a Starboard 12’6 Touring (hardboard). It’s a beast compared to my cheapie inflatable Amazon board and the wheels I have aren’t cutting it. (I have to navigate a fairly steep street as well as a short steep gravel path). Any recommendations for wheels for that particular board? The slog down to the ocean is killing my enjoyment!

Transition to iSup

Been paddle boarding for 6 years or so. Mainly on east coast tidal creeks and intercoastals. I have a 14’ fiberglass Laird paddle surf. It’s my battleship for my 6’3” 225 lb frame.

But… I’m thinking about an iSup. I’ve read they have come a long way with rigidity. I’m a little concerned about the “bounciness” of an inflatable vs the way my fiberglass deals with boats who have no wake awareness.

Looking for some recommendations to be in the same performance ballpark I’m used to. I don’t race, just like to get out on the weekend and spend a few hours in nature.

Sad Day

Paddle season is just around the corner, I’m in great shape for it, this would’ve been my 3rd year now. Except I broke my elbow in an e-scooter accident, the injury was referred to as a”devastating triad” since all of the bones and ligaments were damaged. Good paddling to everyone, make sure you enjoy it, for me if nothing else. I’ll be sitting on the beach, green with envy.

Choosing 1pc Paddle Length ( kneeling )

TL;DR - I primarily paddle kneeling, and have been using my 3 piece at its shortest setting or just using my dragonboat paddle. Now that I'm looking into fixed-height paddles I want to be sure I'm using the right size. Typical conditions are flat / mild saltwater, typical usage is cruising at slower speeds or short sprints. Using Thurso 138.

I'm 5' 5" and generally keep my current paddle (Thurso 3pc Hybrid) at its shortest length (~70") for the duration of my trips. I feel like I have a good amount of dig at this length, but I do struggle sometimes to fully clear the water which has me thinking shorter. I plan to keep it on the board, but I'd like a fixed-height paddle given how often I'm paddling in the same way / same conditions.

Knowing that I'm going to use the 1pc paddle while kneeling, should I stick to the ~70" height, or should I look into something shorter / longer? I've taken a look at usual recommendations ( height + 8" - 12" ) but that seems a bit long.

Looking for feedback from those that have used the Boost Fin with their iSUPs

I’ve been paddling for about 3 years now and am getting pretty comfortable on my no-name entry level iSUP. I decided to upgrade to a better board this year and landed on the iRocker Blackfin XL. When putting together my package, I was surprised to see the Boost Fin is actually for sale through iRocker. I had seen it years ago while it was still a kickstarter product, but now you can just buy them. And it can actually be discounted like $125 if you get 2 other accessories and use a discount code, making it just $375 instead of $500+

Looking online, there are some reviews but mainly catered towards surfing. So I’m wondering if anyone here has used it, and your overall impressions. I’m definitely aware that this isn’t an alternative to a boat. It’s got issues when running the fin constantly for over 15 minutes at a time, and the battery doesn’t last super long. But has it been fun?
