Does anyone have a Cricut I can use in Savannah
Hi everyone,
My undergraduate degree is in Computer Science. I’m considering pursuing a master’s program in Sequential Art, but my ultimate goal is to create visual novels—interactive stories with choices. I want to improve both my storytelling and character design skills, as I plan to design and draw the characters myself.
I’m curious whether the master’s program focuses more on character drawing and design or if it’s more centered around creating sequential art (like comics)?
Also, are there any other master’s programs that focus more specifically on 2D character design in SCAD?
I’ve reached out to a few professors and advisors at SCAD, but I haven’t received a response yet.
Thanks in advance
Hey! I’m currently a Junior at SCAD and I moved into the hue this year.
I’m looking for someone to take over my lease. I recently got kittens and one of my roommates is allergic so I cannot continue to stay here.
Please let me know if you’re interested! Rent is $1,290 monthly, but because of upperclassmen being kicked out of SCAD housing with the new policy, The Hue will likely raise their prices by hundreds of dollars monthly starting soon (they always raise prices every year after they see how busy the leasing is).
Looking forward to hearing back from anyone that is interested.
I will be going to SCAD next year and don't know which campus to go to (I will major in illustration). Are there major downsides or differences in either one? The only posts I've seen about both of them have been from 9-8 years ago, so is there anyone who can say how they are currently?
Just wondering about the cost difference if there is one I plan on transferring here in the next year ish
Hi! I wanted to ask about the Animation degree. If I take SANM560, do I have to take ANIM395 to do a capstone movie? And how does the capstone pitching process go about? Who are we pitching to?
If I do have a minor and use my 3 free electives for it, do I have to pay for the rest of the 2 classes? Thanks!

Long story short, I ordered clothes from depop that won't get here until while I'm on winter break. Thanks to depop's wonderful (/s) ways, I cannot get a refund and repurchase it at the moment and I just have to send it to my PMB address. What will happen to it if it gets sent there over break with nobody to pick it up?
I have 2 animation pieces totalling to about 45 seconds but I REALLY like them as part of my portfolio. Would it be a better idea to go for a Visual & Time Based portfolio with only 45 seconds of time based work, or to omit the animations and go for a Visual Art portfolio?
I’m a prospective student, and after learning more about SCAD, I’m really eager to attend. I plan to major in Sequential Art, and I wanted to ask a few questions to get a better feel for what life at SCAD is like before I reach out to admissions. I’d appreciate any advice from current or former students!
I often hear that SCAD is seriously rigorous, and while that makes me a bit nervous, I’m ready to put in the work to be successful. However, I’d still love to hear firsthand experiences
1. How difficult was SCAD for you and which major did you pursue? I’m curious about how challenging the workload is and how it varies by major.
2. What’s the balance between homework and classwork? Will I still have time to socialize or pursue hobbies, or does the workload pretty much consume all your time?
3. How competitive is the environment? Does it feel collaborative, or is everyone pushing to be the best?
4. What can I do to improve my chances of being hired before graduation? Are there key experiences, projects, or strategies that worked for you?
5. How do internships fit in with the heavy academic load? I’m wondering how realistic it is to balance both without burning out.
6. Do I need a portfolio when applying? I’m halfway through my associate degree in liberal arts, and I wonder if I should prepare a portfolio in the meantime.
While I’m unsure how many of my credits will actually even transfer, I’m planning to finish my degree before transferring. Also, I’m fortunate enough to not have to worry about finances or working part-time (other than possible internships), so I’m hoping that will help me manage my time better.
Are there any other things I should consider as I prepare to apply and eventually transfer?
unrelated note (edit): Sorry if that strange block that contains the questions makes this post hard to read, I'm still unfamiliar with Reddit.
Hello, I am a junior in high school and I recently applied to scad a few weeks ago I’m interested in the fibers major but I realized I still use youtube tutorials for most of my projects and I was wondering do some people in that major sometimes use youtube tutorials for their projects. I want to expand my crocheting skills and learn how to knit so if you have any advice on that it would be great^^.
We have traveled from NJ to tour and just want to make sure we can see the film program and dorms. We reached out to admissions so hopefully we hear back tomorrow. They didn't even ask what program we were interested in on the form.
How does Scad day work? We won't be able to visit again. Thanks
hi! I’m currently a junior in high school, I have a 3.2 gpa and I recently scored 1050 on my practice SAT (with a 660 in reading and a 390 in math). scad is my dream school (I’ve gone to all the summer seminars and I hope to do rising star this coming summer) but I’m pretty worried that my lackluster gpa and test scores are going to bring down my chances of getting in. should I focus more on bringing up my gpa or bringing up my SAT scores?
It’s so cold. Why Why would they make it this way?
It makes me NOT want to do class work ;-;
does anyon know what all is included in the adr lab suites they have at hamilton hall, thinking of booking one for my voice-over project, just don't know what they already have.
Hi, I’ve recently applied to SCAD and got an email a couple days ago of the admissions office accepting me for a bachelors degree in Interior Design.
I live far from here and would be moving away from family, I was wondering, is it worth it?
I would like to see scholarships and anything financial aid they provide… I heard it’s not a lot and this school is a bit pricey. I’ve also got accepted to NAU, which I live about two hours away and it’s more affordable, but I would have to attend community college for the first two years which, (no offense I can not take living in this hot insanely boring (AZ) state for 2 more years…)
Anyways. If you are an Interior Design major or just genuinely want to help, please give me some feedback. Also, I’m committed to my career as I’m also enrolled in a career tech/college prep school based on ID.
Also I heard Georgia has a huge crime rate? Where I live, it’s very little so I’m a bit worried about that as I would have to use different transportation as I heard I can’t have my car for the first year and I have to live on campus or something.
I know the general consensus about content creation is that university doesn’t really work too well with it. And the fact that breaking into the sphere is about as difficult as being the next big director in this declining industry. But after spending an ungodly amount of time and social life on the edge of really starting a YouTube career and seeing Daniel Thrasher on the alumni list, I wanna take my chances. Not just at SCAD but at any art/film university.
Any content creators here who can talk briefly about their story or gameplan, and if I should go forward with it? I do have a lot of ideas about gameplans, content, and niche, but don’t know fully if I’ll be able to commit or not in college.
I know it’s a new program, so I was wondering if this or the M.F.A. in film and television would be better for someone looking to become a cinematographer.
To all of the people that are currently in SCAD Sav campus, do any of you like the courses? Do you enjoy being in sequential art or 2d animation courses? What are some things you dislike from any of the programs? Just wanna hear everyone’s opinions.
Hi! I'm interviewing for SCADpro and SERVE projects for winter quarter, and I'm wondering if taking 3 of my regular course classes is the better choice? If I get the scadpro/serve, I would take that and 2 other classes. Also, for context, winter will be my second quarter in the MBI program at SCAD. I'd really appreciate some advice! I'm worried I won't get an opportunity for a Pro/SERVE project again, but also, I want to do my classes in a particular order. Haha the struggle is real
Hi! I will be starting my masters in fibers in winter 2025. I solely want to do focus on machine knitting/ knitwear design, as that has been my passion the last few years and why I’m going back to school.
I have been wondering if I should do an MA in fashion though instead. Since I want to focus solely on knitted clothing design, should I switch my degree to fashion? Do the fashion students have access to knitting machines, yarns, and other things? Or does it seem like most of the fashion students use fabric and sewing machines?
I have reached out to some of the professors with an inquiry to ask them about this and what my career goals are but haven’t been getting a response. Any insight appreciated!!!
I submitted my portfolio after I got accepted into SCAD. How long does it take for them to review it? Also is there any unknown scholarships that SCAD offers but doesn’t tell?
Hello, I just got accepted to SCAD Atlanta with my friend. We are high school seniors I am going into film and photography he is going into illustration and sequential art, and want to see who else is going to scad Atlanta in fall of 2025. Comment a little about yourself or dm if you want to connect!
(PS If you know anyone who is going to scad Atlanta named Darren please let us know, it’s an inside joke we have and we’re hoping someone is named Darren, it’s not a specific person)
Hello, I am a high school senior who got accepted for fall of next year and I’m planning on being a film major, photography minor in Atlanta. I know film is a booming industry in Atlanta right now, but how easy is it to get a job relative to other art majors, most seem like they’re constantly in a struggle with being employed in their major. I want to end up directing in the future but am going to work up that ladder by doing cinematography first.
I am curious if SCAD is able to reverse attendance decisions. I received an email yesterday stating I am failing my class due to too many absences. My professor marked me absent twice because I hadn’t submitted my pics of film festival yet, even though the festival was still going on. I submitted my work before the end of the night, but I don’t see why my professor marked me absent so early in the day (my other professor waited). I have emailed her and my advisor, but don’t expect a response until tomorrow. Just wanted to know if this about to be a headache to deal with. I have proof I attended two films and proof I submitted before the end of the festival.
Does anyone know of any more scholarship opportunities, yearly or otherwise, that current students can apply to for SCAD? A big financial hiccup in my plans has driven me to looking for more financial aid :(!! I didn’t get anything from FAFSA from a middle income household w two kids behind me. Any help appreciated <3
Hi, I am a SCAD savannah fashion student and I have a project coming up that requires a photo shoot. I don’t really know anyone here to help either take the photos or model the clothing. Does anyone have any advice on either how to do a photo shoot by yourself or find someone willing to model/take the pictures?
Hi everyone, I'm a SCAD Grad who graduated in 2022. In the two years since graduation, I've pretty much mastered my recipe for Chicken Katsu the way that Carnival, the Asian cuisine student cafe at Monty, does theirs. The one thing I haven't found a recipe for or a store-brand alternative for is their Yum Yum sauce, the light pink sauce they serve at the condiments bar. I'm 90% sure they make their own, but no recipe I've ever followed has come close to the flavor of theirs.
That said, does anyone know the recipe Carnival uses for their Yum Yum Sauce? Or better yet, could anyone that still goes to SCAD just ask the workers at Carnival what their recipe for the sauce is? I'm desperate I tell ya. If someone were able to get the genuine recipe, I would compensate you for it (after properly verifying it of course).
Thank you! Sincerely, a SCAD Grad and desperate katsu enjoyer.
Where can I use oil paint on the sav campus? My rm’s said no to our dorms, which wasn’t surprising at all and I absolutely didn’t expect to be told yes, but I can’t find any resources anywhere about where the ventilation is good enough to paint. I’m in my first year, so I have absolutely no knowledge about any of the halls and I don’t want to use a space I’m not supposed to be in :( Any help would be appreciated!!
I LOVE the arts. I am interested in almost every major they have to offer at SCAD and I like that you can take classes in all of them. However I don't know what specifically I want to major in. Is it worth the money?
