Hey everyone,
I am trying to reach as many scad students as possible - Earlier this year, I had a word with the Scad director of esports as we don’t have an active counter-strike team. He said I’d have to pretty much find people interested in it.
If anyone here plays Counter-Strike and is interested in a Scad team please hit me up.
So, I'm a freshman in undergrad with a major in Industrial Design and am looking to buy a new laptop. My current one is a 2017 Macbook air which has been fine, but in reality for the more photoshop and illustrator type stuff I've been using my stationary PC. I'm looking to buy a new laptop and am leaning at buying a new Macbook Air with the M3 chip which I'm able to get at a discounted price w student discounts, trade ins, etc. However, I'd like to get some input from people further up through the IDUS degree to see what would be optimal for me to buy. Any thoughts?
I have just been accepted into the Bachelor's degree Film and Television program for SCAD for the Fall 2025 school year. However, it has become apparent that for me to actually attend the school would cause great financial burden on me and my parents. My parents are retired and receive checks from the government so as to keep us afloat. But as the school year approaches we are scrambling to find ways to pay so that I can attend all four years. I have applied to 100+ scholarships and grants to try and ease the load but I have not heard back even though I have applied to the scholarships in advance. It also hard for me to apply for financial and need based aid because my parents income is too much (which in my opinion is slightly unfair). They have been applying to jobs while I also have been working and saving at my own part time job to save up for school.
I have applied to other schools that have similar programs I can work towards but I want to attend SCAD because I did the Rising Star program over the summer and loved the environment along with my roommates. I have made friends and loved being there. It is my dream school, even though I know I can go somewhere else for the same degree or an equivalent degree, I've gotten attached to SCAD and am willing to do whatever I need to go there.
If anyone knows anything I can do or anything I can apply for I would be eternally grateful. This sounds like a lot to ask for but seeing the burden it's taking on my parents to help me go to this school I want to repay their efforts by looking into any means necessary that can possibly help us.
I’m enthralled with these organizations and want to try out for both. Curious to learn about other people’s experience auditioning, and later performing in these troupes. What was the culture like when you were involved? Pros/cons? And what advice would you give to anyone auditioning?
If you all don’t mind me asking, what is the average scholarship amounts that are offered to students? I’ve received 12,000 for the academic scholarship and 6,500 for the portfolio scholarship. I’m trying to figure if this offering will be better or worse compared to what other schools have offered me.
I've already been accepted into calarts for their scenic design major, but SCAD would be a little more ideal as far as moving and living.
Is SCAD worth attending instead of calarts?
Hey everyone, interested to know if anyone has experience with the Italy summer program - if it’s worth it, your experience, etc. - and specifically the application process. I know there is an interest meeting in January, but I would like to use this time during winter break prepping rather than winter quarter. Would love to know what you included in your portfolio, the requirements for the portfolio that you remember, and any other general advice about it! Thank you in advance.
How is this subject relevant in scad. Any advice will be helpfull !
These are the options I am referring to
So I'm currently in the process of submitting my portfolio for SCAD scholarships and I was wondering if there is a difference between these two submission options? I know I can email my advisor about this, but she typically takes a bit to respond and I figured I would try asking the folks here first :)
Hello! I recently was accepted into SCAD {Which came as a big surprise to my ngl} and it has been the first school ive gotten my acceptance letter from. I keep receiving emails about paying my acceptance fees and housing fees, but im not 100% on SCAD. There is another school I have an audition for at the end of February that is much more afordable and closer to home. I really want to go to SCAD and I know its a great opportunity, but at the same time I don't want to say yes to the very first school i was accepted into, and I want to keep my options open. My family and I dont have $1250 to just throw away if I decide I want to go to the closer school. So how long can i wait till I pay my fees? Thank you for reading this 🖤
has anyone heard anything about Timothee Chalamet being at scad this weekend for A Complete Unknown?? I saw it on searchlight but haven't seen any scad updates.
Hi, I’m supposed to be coming to scad this winter for a major in graphic design, but I feel like graphic design is not where my heart and passion lies. I feel as if my passion and something I would give my all to is sequential art or illustration. My worries about illustration and especially sequential art were the chances to be able to succeed in those career paths and be able to land a job. Can sequential art lead to other careers besides comics? It seems a career in just comics is more unrealistic and scarce. I feel as though I can do good in graphic design but I’m not as passionate for it and feel I might not put my best foot forward with it. It feels more like I chose graphic design for the stability and more broad career path, but I also heard that graphic design at scad focuses a lot more on the path of advertising.
If anyone has any insight or advice for me I would appreciate it a lot. Thank you!
I’m a fashion design major and I I am currently in my freshman year in Savannah, but for sophomore year, I was thinking about moving to Atlanta for sophomore year and I know I have to figure it out soon. I’m just struggling with if I should or not and what the pros and cons of both sides. So Fashion students or any student students who live in Atlanta what do you like about it and what are some cons about it?
Since SCAD has quarter terms instead of semesters, do we get pell grant or any oother financial aid award quarterly? Is it refunded quarterly as well? Or is it every semester like normal?
Hello there! I am going to be joining SCAD ATL next year, and wanted to gain some insight on how biking is around in Atlanta, specifically for getting to places around campus? Would love to hear from some of y'all.
PLEASE HELP!! I have been struggling to get in contact with my advisor for a month now, she hasn't responded to a single email. Im getting stressed because I cant meet in person over break, obviously, and even during last quarter she never responded either. This will continue to be a problem, so I was wondering if anyone had a similar situation? I have Steffanie Augustine.
My admissions advisor sent me an email November 11th saying how the portfolio committee returned my portfolio and is allowing me to edit and add more photos to it but when I go into slideroom, it’s not allowing me to edit anything. I’ve emailed him about it and he said he’ll look into it but has not responded since. Am I missing something? I also emailed the admissions email and called but the person I was transferred to didn’t answer and so I’m so lost on what to do. Any suggestions? Before this my advisor was always very quick to emails and I know this is a busy time but theres nobody else whos helping me either.
i’m a girl filling out my spring 2025 housing application
is it like reasonable to add to the optional question on page 3 to add that: I would prefer to not have a roommate who identifies as male? i have NO reservations about nb people, trans women or cis women
I realize they don’t HAVE to honor this request but is it possible they will?
Hey SCAD! I'm a Savannah local looking to beautify a Little Free Library we just bought for our front yard. If there are any painting students out there who would be interested in a commission project, I'd love to chat and see some of your work. Please shoot me a DM if you're interested. Thanks!
I’m looking to apply as a transfer to SCADs program for sound design next year (hopefully spring?)
Would you all say it’s a worthwhile investment? And do you find that finding a job in this field after graduation is easy/easier?
I have my associates already in Audio Science and I haven’t even landed as much as an internship, hence why I went back to school, and now transferring to here.
Thanks!
Hi!! I'm an upcoming student at the Savannah campus starting in Fall 2025. I'm currently a library aide at my school and I love it!! I was wondering if I could volunteer or work at the libraries/media centers on campus, and how I would go about applying for that.
Thanks so much!!
My suitemate and I (freshmen) want to apply to RM next year so I was wondering what the process looked like and any tips from current RM's? Also, is there a way to request each other or can RMs not request roommates?
Hello! I was questioning what housing I should aim for as a sophomore in Motion Media. I assume I'll be in Monty for a lot of my classes. I'm not bringing a car so I rely on walking or busses. So does Sand have any close bus stops as I'd like apartment style if possible. Or what should I aim for?
Curious about this program, and how I can set myself up for success. Are scholarships offered at this level of education, and how can one be as competitive as possible in preparation?
hi!! i’m an international student who is trying to get a job on campus since it’s my only option to work in the US. I have been applying for a while on the scad job portal but each time I either get rejected or just ignored. does anyone have recommendations on how to get a job on campus or just share a personal experience with getting one?
Im an aspiring tattoo artist and Im going to SCAD im set on minoring in Bussiness but for my major however should I do illustration or are there better options like painting?
My roommates and I are sophomore and just want the cheapest option. should we live on or off campus? if we're going to live on, what's a dorm close to buildings with classes in animation? I'm new to reddit so I hope i asked this right
I submitted my application Oct 21’st and I’m pretty sure I saw where I was supposed to go I just wanted a refresher and another look at who my roomates are. But for the life of me I cannot find the link to it. I’ve checked the SCADhome thing and all it sends me to is the star rez portal where I completed my application in the first place.
