Ah the plans of mice and men... I planned on watching Frighteners, play Pumpkin Jack and RE: Survivor on PS1. Only the later survived. Instead I watched a Treehouse of Horror, and since Ode to Castlevania and Hell Survivors released today... Oh well, I had a pizza, I still have some sweets (now I know why I run 1 hour every day...) and some sweet gaming ahead of me. 😀
Legit? Are they related to Retroid's parent company Moorechip Technologies?
Rhythm/Music of course
Parappa the Rapper PSX comes first to mind...then Thumper and others...
Hi, I'm searching somthing to replace my Miyoo A30 and my R36S :
I search a device horizontal and at least one stick.
It must have an OS like arkOS to be abble to play portmaster.
It must be pocketable enough and cheap, not to fear to break it.
I was thinking of the new magicX XU mini M with pluOS or the RG35xx H, but it begins to be
starting to get expensivestarting to get expensive
Thanks
I have never bought a prerelease device before Retroid 5. I came close with the Aya, but I ended up sitting on the fence.
So I know it's not even considered a long wait, but I noticed I'm losing enthusiasm. I was so excited for the announcement, but it's weird, like the more I learn about it the less I feel like I need to experience it. It's not like I want to cancel (or if that's even an option) but more like I went from "Take my money" to "Do I need another device?".
I'm sure my opinions will change once I have it in my hand, but now I'm not really waiting for it to arrive anymore. It's more like "it'll be nice when it gets here, but not checking the mailbox every day".
Apologies for the appalling alliteration. I figured I’d see which 1:1 Linux handheld was best for Pico-8, as well as the other systems that suit a square screen.
Ate either of these good at running n64 games and POSSIBLY GameCube? (GameCube is not a ddeal breaker) I have a miyoo mini, an RP2, and a 353m, but I'm looking for something with a little more oomph that can run N64 games well along with the GB/C/A era of games which is what I mostly play anyway. Are either of these good options for that, or should I consider a different device?
I will start, Powkiddy RGB20 pro.
I don't like powkiddy but this is the goofiest looking handheld in the good 80s way. I just want a physical copy to show people. Also I will spending money on buttons to mod it.
I was watching a lot of youtube videos and reading a lot of posts and just can’t decide what would be the best choice here. I want something mid range, that can run something up to like N64 perfectly and I definitely want an android device. Some non-heavy GC games too (maybe, but not necessarily). Something pocketable and something that doesn’t break the bank like 120-130$.
the candidates so far are:
rg40xxv, rgb20sx, v10, rg35xx+, or maybe wait for the trimui smart brick that looks cool.
I'm interested in nes, snes, gb, gbc, gba, nds, some ps1, maybe some n64 and pico 8.
Thank you everyone.
Playing one of the best remakes ever, the classic Zero Mission, what about you ? What you guys are playing now ?
Hello! I looking to buy retro handheld. I never had any retro consoles when growing up so I am not familiar with lots of games and which console would be the best for those.
I looked into anbernic rg35sp, miyoo mini plus, trimui, miyoo mini v4, retroid pocket s2
The only console I have is Nintendo switch lite which I love but I am looking into something much smaller. So size and cute games would be the main requirement 🐻
The game style I like is like stardew valley, terraria, dogz, hamtaro. Basically any cute cozy games.
Please give me recommendations which console to buy and/or any games with similar style.
Thank you in advance!
Or likely will get old stock with old hinge and buttons ?
Hi,
As the title states:
I have a Powkiddy V10 running ArkOS and it works fine.
I installed Portmaster and I have a few FPS games running fine (DukeNukem3D, Doom, Quake 1 2 and 3).
Now the problem with these examples is that they expect a device with analog controllers and are setup that way.
My v10 only has a D-pad and I'd like to use the D-pad to move around in those games.
However, how do I achieve that.
I tried for instance with DukeNukem3D to change the control settings from within the game but that doesn't make the D-pad working.
Any ideas how to get the D-pad working for movement in the game.
If it's not possible then these games a of no use on this device.
Thanks in advance.
I already have a RG406v but have been hearing the rgcube/xx can use more of the screen for the systems mentioned in the post title. Is this true or should I just keep trucking along with the 406v?
I have extra cash to burn and really want the best experience for most importantly SNES. The rest are close secondary.
Bonus: I forgot about PSX as well.
Is it everything you hoped it would be? What are you disappointed by?
Also, I am curious, has it ever crashed on you? Have you ever had any overheating/charging problems like the cheaper devices?
Thanks!
I’m currently in the market for a 406v in the UK, I was going to go directly from Ambernic but their list price is without tax, the other options are whatgeek or Aliexpress, has anyone had any import duties with Ambernic or Aliexpress? As a Brit it feels alien for the tax not to be included in the price hit I’m assuming that it wouldn’t cover any import duties? I’m also assuming the Aliexpress price is what you see is what you pay (excluding and potential import duties) any help is appreciated!
For me it's the Powkiddy V90. It was popular due to its clamshell design but it was odd to see a handheld mirror an SP that struggled to play some GBA games.
So far loving the sf2000 as a budget handheld, will be making more content on this tiny beast on my socials. 🎮 https://www.instagram.com/humblehandhelds/profilecard/?igsh=MTFsNHpnM3h4Z2w2ZQ==
"Earthbound" - an amazing game and story (Played on the TSP but I assume the experience will be similar on other devices)
The SNES game "Earthbound" is part of the 'Mother' series of games. Released in 1994 it's essentially 'Mother 2' for the American market.
Storyline
"EarthBound" follows Ness, a young boy who discovers a meteorite has landed near his home. This event propels him into a quest to prevent the alien entity Giygas from destroying the universe.
Throughout his journey, Ness is joined by three friends: Paula, Jeff, and Poo. Together, they travel to various locations, each with its own unique challenges and characters.
The game combines traditional turn-based combat with psychic abilities, known as PSI powers, adding strategic depth to battles.
Recognition
To say that the game later received popularity and recognition is somewhat of an understatement.
By the 2000s, multiple reader polls and critics had named it one of the greatest video games ever made, and it became regarded as a "sacred cow among gaming's cognoscenti".
The satire and humor in the game was deliberately made to be a bit over the top and in many cases it is finding ways to poke fun of American culture and life.
My own experience
It runs absolutely beautifully on the Trimui SP and I would assume it would do the same on most retrohandheld devices that can emulate SNES as technically it's not too demanding of a game.
The story truly sucks you in and I am finding it hard to put down my handheld as I want to push forward in the story.
If you love a good story you owe it to yourself to try out this game.
Play tip: L1 will be your friend in this game, it's the shortcut key for 'Check' which allows you to talk and interact with the item you're in front of instead of having to go through the menu to do to.

Here's a review video that gives a good understanding of how playing the game will be like: https://youtu.be/EIoLcNLyd0g
