Hey there, looking to purchase a rotary for my home setup. It will be my first. I’m between the Ecler warm 4 and UA Orbit 4 FX but probably leaning more towards the Orbit. My setup is a couple of Xdj 1000 mk2s and a technics 1200 mk2. Mackie cr5s with the matching subwoofer. Just looking for some knowledge from people who have experience with either or, about some of the pro/cons of each mixer. Also open to recommendation of other mixers around the same price point. Thanks in advance for any replies :)

After lurking for 4+ years, I’m finally in the club. This has a custom mic input on channel 4. It will be used for radio sets and listening session popups. Excited to break it in.
If anyone has suggestions for a dust cover, please share. Thanks to Aleks and the crew.
Hey to expand on the title a little:
Use case:
Vinyl and CDJ playing the full spectrum of house music. Only looking at EU at rotary at the moment due to tax implications for other countries (else Union Audio might have been an option)
Wanted features:
What I like about Ecler:
What I like about Taula:
Mostly handmade
Color options (as well as customized)
Layout is also good
Retro feeling
So my question to you dear sub, for those who have one or the other how is the sound of both ? (subjective I know) I have also seen in some threads that Taula has been utilized in a club environment and held its own even there which makes me believe it should be a good sound. The only thing both Ecler and Taula are missing are VU meters which is a shame. In Europe from what I have seen so far (please correct me if I am wrong) you can only get Resor as a 4 channel rotary mixer with VU meters and the price increase is pretty significant. Is the extra money worth the jump to discreet board and presumably better parts ? For someone who primarily mixes at home and would not consider themself audiophile is the extra money worth it ?
I also dont mind the Taula having the connectors at top, but I do get a sense that their earlier model had gold plated connectors and now they appear to be not gold plated anymore ?
Thanks for your considerations !
Really interested to dip in to rotary mixers for my setup at home.. I'm not ready yet to make the full commitment and buy boutique mixers as i feel those are a lot outside my range.. Maybe in a year or two i will get one.
For now i'm torn between the Warm 2 and the TRM-422..
Warm 2, feature wise, seems to have everything that i would need while the 422 looks a bit cleaner overall and maybe has a better layout and knobs.
Anyone has experience with these ? Any tips appreciated
Can anyone recommend a decent pair of home speakers, preferably powered, for home use? I see a thread was started with lots of monitor recommendations, but interested to hear suggestions for speakers only. Budget around £500. Thanks.
i just got this yesterday to replace a Xone 23 (!) i had been using it as a 4-channel but felt i outgrew, wanted full 4 channel, & wanted a rotary for a long time. you'll have to ignore the the weird setup right now; i have to get new cords for fx loop since this uses 1/4" instead of RCA. i also needed line/phono possibility on all 4 channels since i use dual layer with an sc5000 & 2 turntables; have a cassette player paired on a channel as well.
i was between this & the Ecler Warm 4, but wanted to try the single-filter rather than EQs to put the question of whether i need EQs or not to rest. TBD as of now, but i have a feeling i like this.
a large part of the reason i went with the fx version was because of the small price gap to it & really wanting to have a 4-band iso (it's silly they don't have it on the non-fx version, but.) i love it & can't see myself using it as a 3 band with the different crossover points. i also have large hands & didn't find any problem with the knobs being too cramped with fx & ch 4, though i know how unpopular the look of the fx version is with the placement. i'm surprised there's no video of a rundown of the fx. i really like the reverbs, was doing some experimenting running dual delays with along with the strymon volante. i'm never gonna user the phaser or flanger - idk if i'm missing something, but the flanger sound sucks with a specific frequency pitch. i've been doing sound design & been a musician for about 2 decades & i've never liked flangers, so i'm biased on that. switching between fx is easy & auto-cutoff if you switch between them so you don't accidentally turn something on.
have aux/fx send & return levels is new & fascinating - love the flexibility per channel. never had a mixer with pre & post send, which also added to the flexibility. i do miss the filter on the xone, though - the "dj filter" effect isn't bad, but nothing like the xone - that's the only thing i miss.
i'm digging the mix filter, though - makes blending a breeze & summing is fantastic. just like i like the 4-band iso, i would use a 4 band eq if i had access to it - hell, i'd use a graphic eq, but of course i know that's not practical or appropriate for dj mixers.
most of all, it was just fun. it felt a lot more intricate & detailed than the xone - i stayed busy in a good way; i could have taken it easy & mixed simply when playing out, but it's great to have so many possibilities on hand when fine tuning.
i'm going to AB the mixers later this week for a more refined comparison, but being able to shape the fullness/sound on older vinyl was immediately an improvement.
zero buyers remorse. so glad i didn't get the Ecler. only thing i wish it had was per-channel VU & dedicated filter, but both of those aren't. necessary by any means for me. love the way the meters behave when cueing, love the split cue, love there's no mic hookups on the face. kind wish the headphone jacks were on the front instead of the face & i don't love the "union audio" logo. got to learn 3-light binary to read the fx#, which took all of 60 seconds.
looking forward to hearing it on a large sound system, but sound was making me smile on my monitors.
i know it's honeymoon phase, but honestly don't know what it would take for me to upgrade again. 6 channels, maybe, but hardly necessary. extremely pleased. very happy to find i in fact do like rotary as much as i expected. build quality is phenomenal; knobs look & feel fantastic; perfect resistance.
Anyone could share opinions & experiences about them? especially regarding sound..
Hi can anyone help me please? Basically I have a vestax pcv-275 which has been converted to a rotary set up. I want to record mixes but cannot do so to laptop via audacity. Would an audio interface help between the mixer and laptop? If anyone knows of any other ways of recording then please let me know. Thanks
Hi r/rotarymixers, I’m looking to update my Condesa Carmen V with some Urei style knobs so I can mix accurately without looking at the mixer or in low light conditions. Is anyone able to point my in the right direction? I’m located in Australia for reference. Thanks!
Where’s the best place to sell gear online in the EU? I’m located in Sweden and looking to sell a MasterSounds Radius 2 with serial number S-0002-S (I believe that this was the first mixer that Ryan sold) and a grey MasterSounds Radius 4 Mk2. I’m not looking for a good deal for myself, but I also don’t want to lose a lot of money on the sale either.
I have had an Orbit 6 for a few mths now.
Let me start off by saying this mixer sounds amazing. The Summing is amazing, the hpf is smooth as shit, the cue system is elegant and the per channel valve pre amp stage makes digital sources sound amazing and incredibly competitive to vinyl; and in some ways the best of both worlds.
To me this the upgrade to my OG Urei 1620 that i was looking for.
The overall build quality and feel seems very very good…. Though granted i have not opened it up and looked inside.
Now… unfortunately
From the box it had aux knobs set at slightly different alignments to each other; some more then others. I was able to mostly fix this by pulling them off and realigning them.
My low knob for the Isolator sits slightly to the right of the center indent. This i cant seem to fix by popping it off and realigning it like i had to do woth the aux knobs; as the pot it self is off-center or the knobs threads themselves are—the screen printing all seems correct so i cant be this.
(Low kob for both eq has same issue)
Main channel pot 3 was super supper tight. This i fixed by taking off the knob and resetting it.
Main channel pot 1 and 4 jiggled a bit when moving them back and forward. Channel 4 pot i was able to fix by removing the knob and resetting it. Channel 1 i was only able to fix it slightly. Perhaps i need to try again.
To be fair Union audio customer service has been doing its best to help me fix all these issues and did Ofcourse give me the option to return it or exchange it with sweet-water were i got it from.
My question for you guys who have union audio or master sounds mixers is, has anybody else noticed issues like this with their mixers? And if so did they have any advice in fixing these issues fully?
I really was trying hard to avoid posting or exchanging, as i do over all love the mixer and they did they try to help. I also did not want to go through the pain of pulling apart my booth and exchanging the mixer for another only to have the exact same issues as these issue could just be a quality control issue when assembly takes place for the knobs.
Thank you guys for your time.
Hello over there. I have a fully revised VESTAX PMC - 46 and an Omnitronic TRM-422 in my studio and wanna ask, if someone of you has informations about good shops or websites where to order knobs in different structures, sizes and for "pimping" own mixers! Shops or websites in the EU will be best and appreciated! THX for your help in advance. Best regardz
..that because their website it seem a bit abandoned and I never received any feedback to an old email..
anyone knows them? any pix about?
I see this community love hi end mixers/rotary mixers, but often the speakers are getting overlooked.
I am wondering, what is everyone using ? what Active speakers or what Speakers+Amp combo
Whenever I record a vinyl set using the Omnitronic TRM-202, the rec out signal always clips unless I keep the volumes extremely low, around 5 or 6. I thought about putting a limiter after the out and before the sound card, but I wonder if it really helps. I tried with two different sound cards, and it definitely sounds like the problem is in the rec out of the mixer. The strange thing is that this problem does not occur on the master out, where, even if the mix sometimes clips a little (with some LEDs turning red), the result is still a pleasantly saturated analog sound. Has anyone encountered the same problem? Suggestions?
Hi all,
I’m very new to all of this and just bought an Ecler Warm 4 paired with some technics 1200’s.
I’m waiting for my speakers to arrive so just using headphones and for some reason, when the headphone jack is half-way in it sounds good but fully inserted sounds staticy and washed.
I’m assuming something to do with the grounding? Any help would be hugely appreciated.
This is my first rotary. Coming from a rane 72 and before that a 62 and a handful of budget mixers before that. I'm really loving how it sounds and feels. I can't give any scientific specifications or comparisons, but It's keeping me excited about playing out and playing my records.
Hi All
I'm sure similar questions are always put here but am genuinely stuck and after learning so much from this group I thought this question is best put to you lot.
My current setup is a Stanton T62, Audio Technica Lp140 and CDJ 850 going into an Omnitronic TRM 202.
Christmas is around the corner and I'm pining for an update. I'd like a new mixer as I'm getting much better and would appreciate being able to use effects more, the ability to control mids independently on each channel and ultimately have a better sound.
I'm really torn between the two mixers above and would appreciate any sway you guys could give me as I love options on box mixers but am really struggling to pick one and stay with it.
P.S. I know about the more expensive rotarys etc, but I can't live beyond my means at the moment and so these two are my options. Thanks guys!! Much love
Hey guys :) For the last two years I developed a two channel rotary mixer, which is finally ready to order in about two weeks. It is designed for minimal noise and distortion and also comes in a version with a crossfader. Some aspects such as channel EQ characteristics and colors can be chosen upon ordering.
If you're interested, please check out the demo video or see the website (www.soabem.com/olho-2r) for detailed information. Cheers, Dennis.
I wanted to order a case from MS for my 4Valve, the case is already a pretty overpriced item given similar cases for other DJ products cost about half as much, but I don't want to customize the foam on another case myself, so whatever I'll eat the cost. $95 to ship. Ok well that's kind of insane, but it's overseas shipping so whatever maybe I'll add some other things to make the total cost less. So I add a replacement faceplate. Shipping jumps up to $195. WTF? It costs $100 more to ship a mixer faceplate?
What is going on there?
Hello,
I recevied a DJR400 (brand new, ordered in E&S) in june 2023.
I got issue after couple months and i brought it back in september 2023 (SAV with jerome, he did not find anything...)
Now it's the same issue on the master output. I've already test my speakers, cables ect...test on 2 differents sounds (2 differents Bar sound system).
Issue :
Some click/snap of the sound on speakers
speaker interrupted after 2,3h or mix.
NB : All is fine on the Booth output.
Did someone have (had) this issue before ?
Regards-
Hi heads 🧠
Does anyone know if it’s possible to tweak the crossover frequencies of EQ potentiometers (i.e. on my MS-2V) without swapping out hardware?
My understanding is that the crossover is effectively “baked in” to the circuitry, but I might be missing something!
Thanks!
