The Wankel engine is a type of internal combustion engine that uses a rotary design to convert pressure into a rotating motion instead of using reciprocating pistons. Its four-stroke cycle takes place in a space between the inside of an oval-like epitrochoid-shaped housing and a rotor that is similar in shape to a Reuleaux triangle but with sides that are somewhat flatter. This design delivers smooth high-rpm power from a compact size. It is the only internal combustion engine invented in the twentieth century to go into production. Since its introduction the engine has been commonly referred to as the rotary engine. (Source - Wikipedia)

Hey guys I’m thinking about getting a rx7 fc or an Rx8 as a daily driver and as a first rotary car but I’m suck on what would be better of the two? I know they are pretty different cars from different time periods but I like them both equally. I’m pretty good with my hands and I have a pretty good sense of how to take care of a rotary and I’m not worried about gas mileage either. Any suggestions or opinions would be appreciated!
I get this is probably asked very frequently and most people really don’t have any business building an engine they know nothing about. Me personally I’m a skyline person, I have 2 rbs but I’m wanting to build a rotary for the fun of it. I don’t really care about power being crazy, I I just want to have a fun little project that I can take my time on and not just have a car with no motor sitting around.
I know it’s probably not gonna be cheap, or easy or anything like that, but where is a good place to start? I’m thinking about just getting a 13b off marketplace and tearing it apart to see what’s going on. If I just build one from nothing, I don’t know what it would need or where to start, do any of yall have recommendations? Time is not an issue
And im in love with it
I have a 12A with junk housings, and it seems overall cheaper to piece together an NA 13B. I know that the e shaft, housings, and rotors are different sizes, but would the 12A irons work in a 13B motor? What are the major differences?
I was thinking about getting a mazda rx7 fc but I have no idea what to do to it when I get one like what to replace and swap out I hear that the apex seal is one of the first things to go but I don't have the skills to replace them myself so are there any places in the fort Myers area that might be able to replace or rebuild the motor
Sorry if this is a dumb question but I just recently became very interested in putting a rotary in my fox body mustang and I can’t get over how good a 4 rotor sounds. I know a real 26b is basically impossible to get unless you are wealthy but I’ve heard there are companies in New Zealand that can do some black magic on a 13b or something. Or does anyone make a good quality replica sort of thing? Thanks for the help.

Would bad coolant seals cause a loss of compression? It looks like it would since they border the outside of the combustion chambers, but I've read that they wouldn't
Hello, I've been obsessing over rx-7/8 rotary engines and in my search for a 3d model and more information on the rotor I came across a video where someone machined the face of the rotor off by about an inch and revealed that the entire thing is hollow with some fin type things but all very intricate. This got me thinking about how these rotors are manufactured and I can't find anything on the internet about how Mazda is doing this. My only theory is there multiple parts but I'm not sure where they would be joined and what would hold them together. Please if anyone knows how Mazda makes these let me know because I can't stop obsessing over this and I need to work on school but I keep getting drawn in by the calling of the dark magic manufacturing of mazda producing rotors. I will link the video in replies (there) or an edit if I can find it again and also if anyone knows of or has a really exact model of a 13b rotor please let me know because I want to 3d print one and try to cast it or something (not to actually go in an engine tho). I also posted this in another rotary reddit but this ones bigger so maybe I'll get an answer faster here (I'm extremely impatient).
hello i’m looking for some advice on buying a rx7 fc. i love the car and my friend is willing to sell me one but it doesn’t have an engine or transmission. i was wondering if i should put a rotary engine in it or smth else? and from what i’ve read the maintenance for the rotorys don’t seem worth it. and if a rotor is what i should go with what should i be looking for(does any rx7 motor fit my model?)
Hello, so 3 of the led's in my tail lamp went out, and since they are horrible to find in good shape and $1k plus new, im considering taking the lamp apart and soldering new leds in, my question is has anyone done this, and would know what leds i need before i take it apart?

I was watching a video on youtube of the PPRE 6-rotor at Rotary REunion and spotted a blue REPU that I'm pretty sure was mine a few years ago. It's a long shot but if anyone knows the owner I'd sure love to chat with him and see how the truck's doing.

Kinda just wanted to show her off on here and see what people think. it’s my second vehicle it only has 45k miles on it and was kept in a garage for most of her life and under a canopy for the rest of it. there’s a couple things i want to do to make it a little quicker but don’t know exactly where to start. probably leaving everything else original and hopefully gonna redo the pin stripes sometime and buff out the paint
