I put newbie in quotes because I’ve been praying the rosary every day since New Year’s Day. In that time a couple questions have come up: how do you do multiple circuits around the rosary/mysteries consecutively? I’ve been Buddhist for twenty years, and when I did mantra recitation on prayer beads, when I got back around, I’d flip the rosary around 180 degrees and keep going. When I complete a circuit do I say the closing prayers and start again with the creed? Do I flip around and go the other way, or do I pass over the medal? Or do something else?
How bad is it to wear my rosary around my neck during the day? I’m not wearing it as jewelry. It’s tucked under my shirt as a reminder. It has the miraculous medal on it and I wear it both as a reminder of my devotion, and in hopes of gaining the benefits of the medal
When I’m listening to a recording of the rosary prayers, should I just be following along on my rosary, or praying along? I’ve been praying along, joining each prayer after the first line (Hail Mary, Our Father, Oh my Jesus, etc) this FEELS proper somehow, but I couldn’t say why exactly
My mind goes offway and i cant seem to focus, are my prayers accepted?
I'm going to be a new convert in April. But I'm hung up right now and I don't know how to get out of it. I've been praying the rosary way before I wanted to be Catholic, but now it's hard to find motivation. I haven't prayed any prayers for 3 days and just a few minutes ago I forced myself to get through one decade of the Rosary. Spiritually i do feel better but i want to figure out why it happened in the first place. What am I doing wrong? How can I improve my prayer routine?
When you know you have taken yourself out of a state of grace by commiting a sin ( ie porn, masturbation, missing Sunday mass, etc) would it be futile to pray rosary?
I'll try my best to pray the Rosary for a couple of minutes when I have free time instead of wasting my time doing nonsense (ex: browsing the internet and watching silly videos on youtube)
Hi,
I am catholic and I pray twice every morning and evening before bed and read the bible everyday.
I read a lot about the power of the Rosary and I would like to know if I can pray it daily to ask for a specific intention for myself ? Like having a specific job.
Thanks !
I'm always walking since I stopped driving and I often take the opportunity to do a walking rosary. I just wanted to get a sense of how common this is. Do you do this too or you instead always do a still quiet place rosary?
Hey everyone,
I'm excited to share that I've just launched my mobile app, Pocket Rosary.
As a newbie developer, I wanted to create a user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing tool for praying the Rosary, especially since many existing apps seem a bit outdated in design (and nowadays we rather have phone with us, than a classic rosary).
I'd love for you to check it out and share your thoughts.
Your feedback, whether here or on the Google Play Store, would be incredibly helpful and much appreciated. Plus, reviews on the Play Store can help the app reach more people.
Thanks a lot, and I hope Pocket Rosary enhances your prayer experience!
So, the gorgeous rosary I shared on here over the summer has a problem: I can't touch the metal crucifix or medal for any length of time without my hands smelling like Tony Chachere's Cajun Seasoning. I kind of suspect that it's actually supposed to be costume jewelry, rather than a chain for actually praying on.
I've looked into popular remedies online, but the beads are made of marble, and almost everything they say to use to get rid of this smell (vinegar, Comet, whatever) you're not supposed to use on marble. I had temporary success with baking soda and salt, but the "success" might also be because I wasn't using it as much.
If you've had a rosary that had this problem, what did you do? The rosary is a tactile experience, so praying with gloves on seems counterproductive. It's almost to the point where I want to just encase the medal and crucifix in resin, or buy a lot of medals and repurpose this one as a portable chapel: just hang it up and look at it.
I'm an Orthodox catechumen inquiring into Catholicism. I've learned not to pray with my imagination. I prefer to focus on the words of the prayer and the Person I'm addressing. I also absolutely love the Rosary and want to pray it every day. I'm doing so without incorporating the mysteries. Is that ok? If I ever become a Catholic, will I have to learn the mysteries as well?
Hey y'all,
I'm looking for a specific type of rosary as a Christmas gift for my mom. She likes the wooden kinds and wants one that has enough space on the cord for the beads to slide back and forth as you're praying, if that makes sense (but not one of those ladder rosaries). It's been surprisingly hard to find one like this online that is also nice quality. Does anyone know of a shop that makes a rosary like this? I would love to support a small catholic business, but anything is fine. Thanks for any help!
God bless!
