Seeking suggestions for places near RHills to buy/experience bathtubs

TLDR - we are renovating our bath and would appreciate suggestions about places where we could checkout freestanding bathtubs. Big box stores have few on display but we don’t get experience them. Particularly interested in checking out how various sizes and styles fit our needs given varying heights across the family members. TIA!

Rochester Hills family history & ancestry

Hello everyone!

I’m a genealogist & I am trained in discovering local Michigan family lineages and stories through vital records, census records, and newspapers.

This is the interest form I put together for anyone interested in learning more about their personal Michigan family history. I create family trees, ancestral maps, and historical road trip itineraries based on YOUR personal family history! It’s a great way to connect with your heritage and wonderful knowledge pass down to future generations.

LINK TO INTEREST FORM: Family History Interest Form

Here are some things you can discover from my research:

  • Newspaper articles about your ancestors (Crime? Scandal? Who knows!)
  • Custom ancestral mapping showing your approximate ethnic admixture
  • United States migration mapping showing how your ancestors migrated throughout the country
  • Your great-great-great grandparents’ names
  • Physical descriptions of your ancestors from census records and war draft cards
  • Six full generations back of your family tree
  • Photographs of your ancestors you have never seen before (Found in Newspaper archives, I have subscriptions to several newspaper websites)

I have a degree in Anthropology and have spent several years working for a professional genealogy company. I have been working as an individual genealogist for about 6 years. If you have any questions about my research, please fill out an interest form or email: heritagehuntersgenealogy@gmail.com

For those of you with ancestry outside of Michigan, please send me a message. I’d be happy to help you or direct you to a better suited genealogist. Thanks!

Visitor seeking things to do!

I will be visiting the Rochester Hills area for work in a few weeks and looking for things to do as I will have time to kill. I’ll be spending one day in Detroit so I’m looking for things to do more directly within the RH area. I’ll have a rental car but would like to keep activities within a half hour ish.

What are your recommendations?

The new Starbucks...

The new Starbucks across from the high school has caused so much traffic problems and it's not even open yet.

The construction they're doing is blocking a lane in that area and causing problems.

For this, I vow to never stop at that location.

Why the increase in allowed street racing in Rochester Hills?

Over the past couple months there has been a massive increase in popping exhausts, flame shooting cars, and massive speeds on low mph roads - like Hamlin Rd between Crooks and Rochester we see cars doing double the speed limit exhausts popping and spitting flames for blocks starting at dusk and going to 3 in the morning sometimes. It used to be once a week or so now its every night and everybody seems to be fine with it.

We've had cars going off the shoulder, animals being hit, and no signs of stopping. Nobody here wants to be the 'old guy' hating on the young kids but this is a bit more than just having a loud exhaust because you need attention.

The police used to patrol Hamlin but it seems like it's just been abandoned to the racers, which with an elementary school here its going to be deadly at some point. The racers are smart enough to wait an hour or so between passes but its obvious we've become part of some race circuit.

Pinball Enthusiasts

After losing our only game in the city, I am now playing out of town.

I found a great arcade in Richmond with brand new Stern games.

I am looking to gain a critical mass of interest for one night a week.

Who's in?

I just wanted to take a quick minute to thank everyone for reporting stuff. I try to stay on top of the posts that violate our community rules or reddit wide rules, but I miss stuff occasionally, so I appreciate everyone who reports things. Thank you!!

rochester adams spanish teacher fired?

Hi all, sorry if this is the wrong place to ask. I attended Rochester Adams a few years back (wow time flies). I heard one of the spanish teachers couldn't keep his racist pottymouth shut and got himself fired. Is this true? He (allegedly) has a history of abusing his students and was particularly nasty to me my senior year. Hearing about this was extremely relieving to me and many others.

Power outages and powerline safety

With the ongoing ice storm, downed powerlines are a very real possibility for the Rochester and Rochester Hills area.

If you encounter a downed powerline, please stay at least 25 FEET away. Treat any downed line as live and dangerous. Report downed lines at https://outage.dteenergy.com/report-down-line or by calling DTE 1-800-477-4747 and follow the prompts.

As always if there is an emergency, your first call should be to 911. Give clear and concise information to the operator. And please note that the 911 operators may not pick up immediately during peak times and to please stay on the line to report your emergency.
