no answer on the ft dock worker position for 7 months

I live off of Williamson Road. We moved here 2.5 years ago. We had a pretty quiet and very safe neighborhood. I walk our dog and always feel safe in our neighborhood. Of course a couple months ago, our next door neighbors (who live in a duplex) rented the top part of their place to folks who are absolutely selling drugs.

What should I do?

We had another group in a duplex doing the same thing. I went over one day and told them to stop. Of course they denied and wrong-doing. They started going to another street to exchange goods. This made me feel a little bit better about it because at least it wasn’t happening on our block but part of me wonders if I shouldn’t have just kept my mouth shut, taken pictures/videos, and gone to the police. Police were called many times by various people including people inside the house and after about 6-9 months one was arrested and the rest were kicked out.

When I spoke to police about the first house they more or less shrugged. What can be done?

My fiancé and I want to take fantasy-themed engagement pictures (think Lord of the Rings, Ren Faire, etc.) Any ideas on where it might be cool to take them? We were looking at Hobbit Airbnbs in VA as well as outdoor spaces.

If you have any other places that are beautiful for engagement pics, I'd also love to hear them!

Hey, going to the comic con today, is it a good time? What should I look forward to?

I was going through some pictures and realized that the black and white ball would usually be around this time of year. Then I realized that they haven’t had a ball, Microfestivus, or the 5k in a couple of years. The facebook page doesn’t mention that they’ve disbanded, but it’s been inactive for some time. What happened?

My friend and I are meeting up in Roanoke tomorrow to catch up. I’ve been to a few coffee shops in town, like sweet donkey and green hive. Are there any that are a cozier, ideally with booths for a little layer of privacy, where we could spend an afternoon?

I pass this place almost every day on my way to and from work, and I truly do not understand if it’s open or not or what it caters to. I thought it served food and alcohol but there’s a sign saying it’s “coming soon”. I have never seen anyone other than like two employees inside. I was excited for a new place for food and a drink around here but just very confused about everything to do with that place

Some refer to a similar lackadaisical attitude to urgency as being on "beach time" or "river time". I am calling it Roanoke Time. I see it in the way people drive (other than rush hour) and how people hold appointments. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing it, I think its endearing and I'm happy to settle into it. Just curious if others feel this.

I adopted my dog Frenchie from the RCACP in late August. She's a wonderful dog who is incredible with other dogs, cats, and the people she trusts.

She came from a pretty horrific abusive situation and is understandably incredibly wary and fearful of most people. Hell, she's lived with me for 5 months now and if I move too fast or make too loud of a noise, she'll be scared of me the rest of the day. Of note, she is not reactive/aggressive at all. I've (kindly) tested her limits and there seem to be none. She's just fearful.

I wanted to give her considerable decompression time and I believe 5 months should probably be apt. She's settled in and has a routine and now I'd like to work on building her confidence.

That's an incredibly long ramble for me to ask: can anyone recommend a local dog trainer that has the ability to focus on insecure/fearful dogs?

Also if anyone's open to setting up a dog play date, I would be down. She's been to multiple dog parks and met dogs of all sizes, ages, and dispositions and handled everyone with so much grace, kindness, and excitement.

I was looking at the membership fees and I see that different YMCAs within the Blue Ridge system have different monthly payments but still allow for access to the other YMCA locations. Is it possible to get a member ship in, say, Salem and use the Tanglewood YMCA? Sorry if this is a redundant or low effort question, just curious!
