The final didn’t go our way, but still an incredible first season in the league. Got around to downloading eFootball mobile just to give us the fairy tale ending we were hoping for haha.
Switchback fan here. Shout out to you all for traveling and representing your club. Extra cool shout out to your keeper for being the first to walk over and celebrate you. Cool to see him do that.
Great playoff run. Let's go USL!
feels very surreal
Rhode Island FC @ Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC: USL Championship Final!
Alright, Rhode Island, this is the moment we’ve all been waiting for! In our inaugural season, we’ve shattered expectations, conquered challenges, and written history. Now, we’re just 90 minutes from glory.
The Tide has risen all the way to the USL Championship Final, and we’re ready to bring the trophy home to the Ocean State. This isn’t just a match—it’s a defining moment for our club, our state, and every fan who’s been part of this incredible journey. Let’s make it unforgettable.
Looking Back: A Season of Firsts
Last week, Rhode Island FC made history, defeating Charleston Battery 2-1 in the Eastern Conference Final. Goals from Karifa Yao and Noah Fuson secured the victory, with a rock-solid defense that earned us our first trophy as Eastern Conference Champs.
This historic playoff run is the culmination of a remarkable season. After a slow start filled with hard-fought draws (#DrawKings), we hit our stride over the summer, embarking on a blistering two-month winning streak that eventually brought us to the playoffs. And from there, we’ve been fearless, toppling giants on the Rhode:
And now, just one step remains.
To our fans: you’ve been the heartbeat of this team. From La Banda to Defiance 1636 and beyond, you’ve carried the spirit of Rhode Island to every corner of the league. Let’s make the Tide rise even stronger this weekend as we crash into the Rockies.
Switchbacks, We Meet Again
Back in May, a much different RIFC faced the Switchbacks at Weidner Field. A 3-1 loss taught us hard lessons early in the season. But today’s team? A whole new Tide.
Under Coach Khano Smith’s leadership, we’ve transformed from competitors to contenders. Saturday isn’t just about redemption—it’s about proving that Rhode Island is here to win.
What’s At Stake
History. Legacy. Pride.
A victory on Saturday doesn’t just bring the trophy home—it cements Rhode Island FC as champions in its first season, putting the Ocean State on the soccer map forever.
We’re up against a formidable opponent in the Switchbacks, a club celebrating its 10th season and seeking its first title. They’re tactical, determined, and playing at altitude. But we’ve shown time and again—no obstacle is too great for this team.
A Message to the Squad
To the players: Vegas, Yao, Holstad, Nodarse, Ybarra, Turnbull, Fuson, Dikwa, Kwizera, Williams, Stoneman, Doyle, Brito, Lee, Alves, Herivaux, McGlynn, Panayotou, Duggan, Smith, Twumasi, Angking, Shapiro-Thompson, Messer, Vang, Silveira.
You’ve already made us proud. You’ve brought this state together and made us believe. Whatever happens Saturday, we know you’ll leave it all on the field. Now seize the moment YOU created.
Vibe Check: Are You Ready, Rhode Island? Whether you’re traveling to Weidner Field, rallying with Defiance at The Guild, cheering with Chip at Moonshine Alley, gathering at another watch party, or watching from home—this is our time. This is why we fell in love with Rhode Island FC and rallied behind the Tide. Let’s show the world what #UpTheTide truly means. Share your predictions, rally cries, and GIFs in the thread, and let’s make this a moment to remember. The Tide is here. The Tide is strong. And together, we’re riding this Tide all the way to glory and bringing the trophy back to Rhode Island. #VamosRhodeIsland #UpTheTide #NeverSayDie

Hi, Colombian here. Just something I wondered and wanted to what y'all think?
Colorado Springs is a whole ass mile (~6000 ft) above sea level. The air is much, much thinner than sea side Rhode Island.
Context about the random Colombian reference: Besides being a quick flex, Colombia is also one of the strongest national teams in the world right now. About a month ago, we played against Bolivia away at El Alto, a city that is 4000m (~13100 ft) above sea level and lost 0-1. During the Copa America this summer, we beat them 3-0.
How do you think Rhode Island is going to prepare? I know we're already there
RIFC just sent out the list of watch parties across the state. Obviously the Guild and Moonshine Alley will be great, and it sounds like Providence Brewing gets a good crowd. Does anyone know how good the crowd is at the other locations?
Obviously The Guild is going to be packed for the match. Anyone getting there early want to do some tailgating? Cornhole, etc in the parking lot? Doors are at 10:45 but imo the party should start earlier!!
