Switchback fan here. Shout out to you all for traveling and representing your club. Extra cool shout out to your keeper for being the first to walk over and celebrate you. Cool to see him do that.
Great playoff run. Let's go USL!
feels very surreal
Rhode Island FC @ Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC: USL Championship Final!
Alright, Rhode Island, this is the moment we’ve all been waiting for! In our inaugural season, we’ve shattered expectations, conquered challenges, and written history. Now, we’re just 90 minutes from glory.
The Tide has risen all the way to the USL Championship Final, and we’re ready to bring the trophy home to the Ocean State. This isn’t just a match—it’s a defining moment for our club, our state, and every fan who’s been part of this incredible journey. Let’s make it unforgettable.
Looking Back: A Season of Firsts
Last week, Rhode Island FC made history, defeating Charleston Battery 2-1 in the Eastern Conference Final. Goals from Karifa Yao and Noah Fuson secured the victory, with a rock-solid defense that earned us our first trophy as Eastern Conference Champs.
This historic playoff run is the culmination of a remarkable season. After a slow start filled with hard-fought draws (#DrawKings), we hit our stride over the summer, embarking on a blistering two-month winning streak that eventually brought us to the playoffs. And from there, we’ve been fearless, toppling giants on the Rhode:
And now, just one step remains.
To our fans: you’ve been the heartbeat of this team. From La Banda to Defiance 1636 and beyond, you’ve carried the spirit of Rhode Island to every corner of the league. Let’s make the Tide rise even stronger this weekend as we crash into the Rockies.
Switchbacks, We Meet Again
Back in May, a much different RIFC faced the Switchbacks at Weidner Field. A 3-1 loss taught us hard lessons early in the season. But today’s team? A whole new Tide.
Under Coach Khano Smith’s leadership, we’ve transformed from competitors to contenders. Saturday isn’t just about redemption—it’s about proving that Rhode Island is here to win.
What’s At Stake
History. Legacy. Pride.
A victory on Saturday doesn’t just bring the trophy home—it cements Rhode Island FC as champions in its first season, putting the Ocean State on the soccer map forever.
We’re up against a formidable opponent in the Switchbacks, a club celebrating its 10th season and seeking its first title. They’re tactical, determined, and playing at altitude. But we’ve shown time and again—no obstacle is too great for this team.
A Message to the Squad
To the players: Vegas, Yao, Holstad, Nodarse, Ybarra, Turnbull, Fuson, Dikwa, Kwizera, Williams, Stoneman, Doyle, Brito, Lee, Alves, Herivaux, McGlynn, Panayotou, Duggan, Smith, Twumasi, Angking, Shapiro-Thompson, Messer, Vang, Silveira.
You’ve already made us proud. You’ve brought this state together and made us believe. Whatever happens Saturday, we know you’ll leave it all on the field. Now seize the moment YOU created.
Vibe Check: Are You Ready, Rhode Island? Whether you’re traveling to Weidner Field, rallying with Defiance at The Guild, cheering with Chip at Moonshine Alley, gathering at another watch party, or watching from home—this is our time. This is why we fell in love with Rhode Island FC and rallied behind the Tide. Let’s show the world what #UpTheTide truly means. Share your predictions, rally cries, and GIFs in the thread, and let’s make this a moment to remember. The Tide is here. The Tide is strong. And together, we’re riding this Tide all the way to glory and bringing the trophy back to Rhode Island. #VamosRhodeIsland #UpTheTide #NeverSayDie

Hi, Colombian here. Just something I wondered and wanted to what y'all think?
Colorado Springs is a whole ass mile (~6000 ft) above sea level. The air is much, much thinner than sea side Rhode Island.
Context about the random Colombian reference: Besides being a quick flex, Colombia is also one of the strongest national teams in the world right now. About a month ago, we played against Bolivia away at El Alto, a city that is 4000m (~13100 ft) above sea level and lost 0-1. During the Copa America this summer, we beat them 3-0.
How do you think Rhode Island is going to prepare? I know we're already there
RIFC just sent out the list of watch parties across the state. Obviously the Guild and Moonshine Alley will be great, and it sounds like Providence Brewing gets a good crowd. Does anyone know how good the crowd is at the other locations?
Obviously The Guild is going to be packed for the match. Anyone getting there early want to do some tailgating? Cornhole, etc in the parking lot? Doors are at 10:45 but imo the party should start earlier!!
Per the title - looking for somewhere to watch the game, anyone know of a watch party in Boston / Cambridge area?
looks like usual soccer haunts (Pheonix, Dubliner…etc) will be showing the Premier League instead.
I was back in the Away End tonight to preview Saturday’s USL Championship Final with Ben from the Trailheads Supporters' Group
#UpTheTide 🌊
Anyone know of good spots to watch the upcoming game that isn’t the Guild? I would actually prefer the guild but after seeing how insane it was last week there’s no way we will be back there. Also if you know any that aren’t a brewery that serves only their own drinks that’d be great. My wife and I aren’t big beer drinkers.
Hey all, I'm one of the mods over on r/SwitchbacksFC so if you're coming out for the match and have questions about Colorado Springs or Weidner Field let me know and I'll answer to the best of my knowledge.
Just wondering what the vibe was like at GACS, Proclamation, Moniker, Providence Brewing etc. And if you were at Proclamation, did they have the sound on? I've never been too impressed with the picture quality or sound there, but maybe they stepped up.
I'm thinking Saturday at the Guild is gonna be packed!
Andrew and I sat down to chat through our experience in Charleston, Rhode Island FC advancing to the USL Championship Finals and share listener comments.

I want a new shirt for the final on Saturday
Good morning, RIFC!
Hoping to travel next weekend for the finals.
There was a helpful post here last week for the visitor’s section of the Charleston Stadium in case anybody would be traveling for the game.
Any idea if/what section is usually allocated to away fans at Weidner in Colorado? Checked their website and fan forums without much luck.
Thanks in advance!
we should get a bigger venue to play the game and have a huuuge watch party
Hello,
Old school Revs fan here and I am thinking of getting season tickets to RIFC next year. As I will be traveling down from Massachusetts, I will need to consider parking.
Does anyone know what the parking situation will be like for the new stadium in terms of availability and cost?
Rhode Island FC @ Charleston Battery: Eastern Conference Finals Rumble!
Alright, Rhode Island, it's time to turn up the heat! In our inaugural season, we've shattered expectations to reach the Eastern Conference Finals, and now one more win stands between us and a shot at glory. This isn’t just any game; it’s a chance to bring Rhode Island FC’s first-ever trophy home. From day one, we’ve been rewriting the script, proving Rhode Island FC isn’t just here to play—we’re here to conquer. The Tide is rising, baby. Let’s go!
Looking Back: A Historic Playoff Journey
Last week, Rhode Island FC made waves across the league with a stunning 3-0 victory over the 2024 Players' Shield winners, Louisville City FC, on their own turf. JJ Williams emerged as the hero with a stellar two-goal performance, while Koke Vegas stood firm in goal, delivering the only clean sheet LouCity has suffered at Lynn Family Stadium this year. It was our most complete performance of the season—a relentless, statement game that carried us to the Conference Finals. We’re not done yet, Rhode Island!
And let’s talk about our incredible 12th man—our supporters! La Banda and Defiance 1636, you brought the heart of Rhode Island to Louisville, driving over 15 hours to back us with relentless rhythm and unwavering support. Legendary.
Familiar Foes: Facing Charleston Again
We’re set to battle Charleston Battery, a team we know well. Our two matches this season both ended in gritty draws—a 0-0 defensive showcase in Smithfield on a cold, rainy night, and a tense 1-1 showdown in Charleston. Now, it’s time to break the tie and claim our spot in the finals.
Charleston is tough, fresh off a dramatic comeback against the Tampa Bay Rowdies, led by Nick Markanich, who shattered the USL single-season goal record with 28. But RIFC thrives in high-stakes moments. We’re battle-tested and coming in with momentum. We’re ready to take it all the way.
What’s At Stake
For Rhode Island FC, this isn’t just another match—it’s a shot at history. With our unwavering supporters making the journey and our team’s resilience, focus, and firepower, we’re ready to take the next step. We’ve already toppled league giants, proving we’re not just newcomers—we belong at the top.
We’ve come too far to stop now. With Rhode Island’s passion driving us forward, we’re on the verge of making league history and securing a spot in the USL Championship Final match. Charleston won’t know what hit them when the Tide rolls in.
Vibe Check: Are You Ready, RIFC Faithful? Let’s do this, Rhode Island! Whether you’re hitting the road to Charleston, gathering at The Guild or another watch party, or hyping it up from home, it’s time to rally behind our squad. Drop your predictions, rally cries, and spirit in the thread—let’s get loud, let’s get proud, and let’s show Charleston what #UpTheTide is all about. We’ve come this far together, and the journey isn’t over. Let’s ride the Tide straight to the finals! #VamosRhodeIsland #UpTheTide #EasternConferenceFinals #NeverSayDie #CHSvRI #Playoffs
