I need help on this. I don't know why the lines are extremely light. I created multiple pdfs before but never encountered this sort of issue. I've attached a drive link to what the pdf looks like. PDF Drive
Hello all!
I've searched Google for an answer to this, but either I'm not asking correctly, or it's an uncommon question.
I'm working on a renovation project.
I have a phase graphic override to show existing as halftone. I want to keep this if I can.
I have my view/phase settings set to:
"Show New + Existing" and "New Construction"
My issue/question:
When I have the phase filters set this way, it shows the wall as complete, but I want it to only show the studs (because we're going to replace the drywall, and I want to snap dimensions to the studs)
If I change it to "Show Complete" it shows the studs the way I want but loses the graphic override. Is there a way to get both?
Thanks in advance!!
So, I created the roof structure in Rhino then exported it to Revit which is fine however if I export to Twin Motion it breaks (see images below)
I’m pretty sure I’ve seen it before but I can’t work it out. Just want to use a toggle for each wall material
Thanks
in short I need just the wireframe grid of my project because I need to load it into blender. is there a simple way to do it?
I want to add the callout head but without the callout frame. Someone suggested using "View Reference".
On plan, it shows the correct Detail Number and Sheet number. However, on the view title, the "Referencing Sheet" is putting the sheet number where the detail is.
For example: I have a plan view on Sheet A. I put "View Reference" tag for a detail in Sheet B. In the tag it correctly shows Detail 1/Sheet B. However in Sheet B, the view title for the detail shows Detail 1/Sheet B (it should be Sheet A!!!)
This problem does not appear when I use "Callout" and select "Reference other view". But I don't want the callout frame! because the tags will be used as part of annotations. Like: Typical footing blah blah blah, see "Detail 1/Sheet B". We also put it on a lot of items and having call out frames makes the drawing to messy.
Edit:
I now realize what is happening. In the Detail in Sheet B, there is a Section Callout. That section is also on Sheet B. Now the view title is linking to the section that is also in sheet B!!! In details where there are no other callouts, it only shows as blank.
Now, is there a way to make a "View Reference" behave like a callout? When I use callout, it works flawlessly.
I'm trying to make a fill pattern that looks like board and batten siding. The "Steel" fill pattern is basically it but it's rotated at 45 degrees. So if I could just rotate it to straight up and down it would be fine.
However the editor doesn't let me because it's a 'custom' pattern.
Long time ArchiCad user here. It's difficult to describe to which degree I´m at loss to be able to transfer my AC skills to Revit. It´s just so different on so many levels. Some basic functions are structured in such a way that you need to spend your days basically programming for it to work.
I want to spare my new colleagues from endless whining and moaning about things "that are better in ArchiCad" so I´m looking for resources that help my AC brain to understand the structure of Revit. Surely I'm not the first person to make this transition?
Hi revit users I just wanted to know if you guys use any tips or tricks to save time. Be it modelling, coordination or annotations?? And what tools or addins has saved you alot of times in a big project ??
I keep getting an error that there's not enough room. It's four total lines of 8" and 10" pipe at a 1'-4" spread. I've done this spread before and didn't have problems. Now it's saying there's not enough space. Why might this be?
I had to roll a 90 degree fitting on a 45 degree angle, so it was a little bit involved to pipe this. So it would be nice if I could do the other lines using parallel pipe.
Anyone have any ideas how i can get a family to mask the floor pattern from the architectural model? I am placing exterior lights and cant get a masking region in the lighting family to mask the pattern in the floor. The only fix i have found is placing individual masking regions on the plan on top of the foundation but thats a hassle b/c its a separate item adn i would like it to all happen within the family.
I've downloaded some connection families for wood like Strong Ties. They don't seem to attach columns properly and always give an error when changing the host.
I plan to create connections from scratch. What type of family should I start with? Generic model?
Another question. I also created wood beam and column families. I have read from some forums about changing the "material model behavior" to steel so it can work with steel connection families which would be awesome. What are your thoughts on this? Is this good or bad practice? Will this affect when the revit is exported to design softwares? How we do things now is have two separate models for the design software (ETABS, RISA, etc) and and a separate one for revit. How do you go about it in your companies?
Is there any way to prevent the cut/fill calculations until perhaps, I'm finished editing the toposolid? I don't want this continuous backgorund process running all the time. It's preventing me from saving the file, and I've had to re-do work at least 4 times now. It's getting very tiring and annoying. For this particular project I actually don't even need the calculations at all. The toposolid is solely for elevation and section views to look correct. I tried copying the new Graded Region toposolid off to the right by 1,000 feet, deleting my original Graded Region, then moving the copied toposolid back left 1,000 feet. But somehow Revit "knew" what I did and started trying to run the calculations again! I've heard of people reporting the "calculations" taking over an hour to complete! This is insanity. This is on 2024.2. Haven't had the chance to install the latest 2024 update on all the office machines.
In the walls, see linked image https://prnt.sc/-xinOzz1jX8w, the corners have this weird dot that I assume is a line. Edit: fixed, it was wall projections line.
But the floor problem persists
The edges of my floors are red for some reason. I tried overriding everything floor related, as far as I'm aware, object styles etc. Maybe I'm missing something...
EDIT: fixed, there was a filter already in place, that came from god knows where, called "Working-
I can linework the floors but not the wall corner
Can't figure out why there is a lag when clicking on detailing lines to create them, and then more lag when placing them. When I place components, it's very snappy, if I offset and copy a detail line, it's pretty quick, but trying to create them is so damn slow. Anyone have any idea why?
Just got asked if I could help with lift drawings for a project, but I never done them. After today, I never even heard of lift drawings. Can some explain what they are? Thanks
I had been using this in the workplace for about 5 months and then I tried to use some tools today and was handed a notice that my trial is expired. I get the need for development and paying employees but if you take once free functionality away from me and make me then pay for it, I won't be using your software anymore. I will look elsewhere.
Tried fooling around with different options, clicked most everything I saw to test it. No difference. How do I make the new template stick?
I'm trying to draw pipe and it keeps telling me it's out of view range. I'm new to it.
I have been struggeling to get a trussed rafter family to align around curves. I could make a manual setup but given the size of the project that would take alot more time. Is there a way to achieve this using a family?
EDIT: I figured it out by making an adaptive trussed rafter family but only half of it for each side and manually combined them to fit my needs.
I may or may not have overstated my Revit skills in a job application and now I have about a week to fix that. I am an architecture student so it's not like they expect me to be an expert.
Nonetheless, any advice/places/YouTube series that helped people start out. (I have a little bit of experience but it won't fly...)
Thanks :)
Hey guys so I'm getting this error. "Revit cannot reconcile the difference between your local file and central model. You can find more about the error in the workset dialog". Is there anyway to resolve this issue.?? I have not opened any other file just this one file.
Hi everyone, I'm an architect and I would like to buy a simple and immediate vr set for my clients to view my architectural models. Can you suggest at least a top 3 for a good vr set?
I’m relatively new to revit, so I came across problem with modeling this type of window. Actually more of this part around window, where inner edges of a rectangle are moved to inside to make this “sloped” part around window. Any ideas how to make that? Thanks

I’ve put a curtain wall on my model and I want to add a glazed door. When I try to load the family in from the Revit Library it tells me it’s the wrong category and won’t let me add it. I’ve tried loading it in under door, component and via the load family button the on insert tab. None of them work.
However this only seems to be happening in Revit 2025, I followed the same steps in Revit 2024 and didn’t have any issues.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
But I didn't fool around with the view! Why would it default to this? Any idea what this could be?
Really thought I was onto something, because the search results yielded some info about how the pipe type was set as "hydronic" when I first drew. Which indeed it was. Seemed like a difference I could very well appreciate and implement, but when I changed to domestic water and started drawing, I had the same problem. I still can't change the type. Can anyone shed some light?
Found other search results, all of them used terms that are above my head. Can anyone help?
I tried to google coordinates tutorial on Youtube but still couldn't figure why. I attempted somethings with the Manage > Coordinates options but no use.
( Model A is my file and Model B is the structural engineer's file.)
Edit: solved, I missed the setting of PBP to PBP when linking the model :) Thank you for the quick and helpful comments
I'm looking for an app that will:
I've been searching but haven't found it. Does this exist?
hi all, i’m working on my a project required for graduation and my student license is going to end in 20 days. the problem is when i try renewing my license, the only thing that pops up on the autodesk website is “error on our part”, or something along that line. have tried multiple times and each time i get the same issue. anyone else have a similar experience? how did you resolve it and get the renewal? as i stated i’m working on an important project and i’d appreciate any help. especially if you’re in the middle east (like me) and have had the same issue then please share how you resolved it! thank you
Although I've used BIM360 and Autodesk Docs in the past, my current company has not yet incorporated Autodesk Docs into our workflow. I do however leave the Autodesk Health Alerts on to monitor the reliability in case we want to go in that direction. Based on the Autodesk alerts the ACC cloud is down for maintenance or network "incidents" at least once a week. Especially on Fridays. I remember these cloud issues being traumatic whenever there was a big deadline. Is it really that unreliable still or am I just not understanding the alerts?
