How to include a college that you have not attended yet?

Hi, I am currently in community college. The program I am seeking has an opportunity for 3 years at the community college,(getting an associates) and 1 year at a 4-year school for a Bachelor.

My question is how do i word this on a resume? Do i put the bachelors with the expected graduation date, or the associates? What college should i put, the community college I spend 3 years at, or the university I will spend 1 year?

Thank you!

Is it okay to exclude a bachelor's degree from the resume?

I hold a master’s in finance, and I’m considering leaving my bachelor’s degree off my resume for two reasons:

  1. I have five years of experience across three roles, plus two compelling internships I’d like to include, so space is limited.

  2. My undergraduate degree isn’t from a prestigious university, so it doesn’t add much value. It doesn’t align as well with the rest of my experience, which is relatively impressive.

As a hiring manager, what would you think if someone chose to omit their bachelor’s degree in this way?

Edit 1: just to clarify, I will be including the masters, just thinking about leaving out the undergraduate degree

Edit 2: thanks all, appreciate your feedback. I will leave the undergraduate degree in there

[6 YoE, Data Scientist, Data Scientist/MLE, United States]

Currently located in Melbourne, Australia, and just beginning a job search in the US. Looking to move to the US (NYC/West Coast/not fussy) in a role at a "tech-first" company and I have a couple of questions regarding my resume:

- Any general advice for optimizing my resume for the US tech market?

- See a lot of feedback online that shorter is better and mine is wordy, can you recommend any fat to be cut?

- I only just added the summary and skills section... does this add any value or is it just fluff

- I'm an Australian citizen, Australians have an advantageous visa available (similar to Canadian TN visa), what's the best way to communicate that I'd need sponsorship but there's not much burden on the company?

Really appreciate any feedback. Thank you 🙏🙏

[16 YoE, I.T. Professional, Unemployed, United States]

Long story short -- I am approaching the one-year mark since my previous position was eliminated. Over the past several months, I have taken on a few short 1-2 day contract "side jobs" to keep fresh and bring in some money. I have done this pretty much my whole career inbetween jobs which you will see listed on my resume as "Self Employeed" ... Anyhow, despite numerous phone interviews and progressing to later stages (stage 3 or 4) in a few hiring processes, I have not yet secured a permanent position. Unfortunately, I've received the typical AI generated "We've gone with a different candidate".

After two months of being unemployeed - I started also applying for roles that were closer to entry level. I figured:

  1. It's money comin in the door.
  2. Maybe I could move up in the company at a faster pace due to having above entry-level skills
  3. Worse case, I am making money but still keeping an eye out in the market for something better.

Having been doing that for the last couple of months.... I would say over 90% of my resumes I submit for a role - I don't hear anything back from. I am posting up my resume for some serious criticism and suggestions.

IT Roles that I am open to: Administration, Hardware/software Troubleshooting, Support

Any help is greatly appreciated

[1 YoE, Unemployed, Data Science Intern, United States]

Hi, everyone!

I am an international masters student in US applying for Summer 2025 Data Science internship (F1 visa CPT extension).

Can you review my resume please?

At the moment I have applied to around ~100 positions across multiple US locations, and I only got rejections so far, so I wanted to check if there might be any issues with my CV.

Open to any comments and advice.

Thanks!

I don't have any degrees or college experience, so I removed the Education section. Any tips?

I replaced it with skills and interests. Is it better this way or should I include education anyway even if its just my highschool diploma?

Following up on a post I made last week to make sure my resume is in good shape is I undertake my first serious job search in about a decade. I was told my old resume was very generic. I'm hoping this fixes that.

My background is mostly healthcare. I'd like to stay in that area but am open to other public good areas (education, housing, etc). I'd prefer to stay non-profit or government so I can continue to qualify for PSLF.

Currently working as a senior data analyst, mostly doing BI work. My previous job was heavily BI focused. I've only ever worked in small departments so I would wear a lot of hats. I've done a fair amount of light data engineering so I'm interested in pursuing analytics engineering roles as well as data engineering roles as a bit of a stretch position.

Preference is for remote positions, but would consider hybrid in WNY. 100% in office isn't a non-starter, but would have to be a very generous offer for me to consider it.

Advice Needed for Creating a Resume to Apply for Environment Officer Role in Sydney Council

Hi everyone,

I’m seeking advice on crafting a strong resume for an Environment Officer position with a local council in Sydney. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences, and I completed a research internship focused on fungal DNA analysis.

I’m especially interested in how I can effectively highlight my academic background and research experience, even though I don’t have extensive on-the-ground experience in environmental roles yet. If anyone here has tips for emphasizing scientific research skills and making a resume stand out in a council application, I’d love to hear your advice!

Thanks in advance!

I’ve applied to several internships over the past six months, but only a few companies provided feedback. Any advice on my resume or general job search tips would be much appreciated! Thank you so much.

[4 YoE, Teacher, Sales or Training, United States]

Hey all, looking to get some feedback for my resume. I left teaching 2 years ago to travel, and in the mean time I've been supplementing my income with subbing and tutoring a few months per year. I'm looking to apply for jobs in organizations education-adjacent, starting with sales or training programs. I used AI to modify my language to be less teacher-specific, but I made some changes because the AI resume felt inauthentic. A question: How does this resume fare against the AI filtration systems that look for key terms/phrases? Any general advice appreciated.

*edit: I'm not sure why the formatting got messed up when converting to an image.

[2 YoE , Unemployed , Data Engineer/Analyst, USA]

I've received 1 call in the last 5 months (400+ applied). This is a general version of my resume as I always tailor it based on the job description. The tailor part is limited to adjusting bullet order and adjusting/removing skills.

I've tried following Google's X-Y-Z format and made my bullets concise. I am starting to believe that using ChatGPT to rephrase my bullet point was not the best idea even if it looks good. Maybe I am overthinking but I want to get some consensus as to what might be putting of recruiters in this resume.

I have been rejected from roles where I meet >90% of the job description, including 'preferred qualifications'. I can write that off to pure probability but it still feels odd to not get a call back.

Additionally, I've been speaking to few people in the industry through meetups and they all say that my resume looks perfect. It feels like I am running around like a headless chicken given I have about 4-5 months before I have to leave this country forever.

Jobs I am applying to : Data Engineer, Data Analyst, Analytics Engineer, Business Intelligence

Projects in resume

I recently graduated with bachelor degree in CS and i have freelance software developer experience and one internship. Besides my experience i also have various projects from college and projects built by myself. Whats the best way to present those projects in my resume, is it to list some of them and rest to be on github portfolio or to built some online hosted portfolio with projects? Thanks in advance 😁

[0 YoE, Pharmacy Job, Helpdesk/Infosec Analyst, United States]

Hi, I'm looking to get some help with the Experience and Skills portion of my resume (or any others if necessary) to make them sound more technical/qualified. I just graduated with my degree in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance in August 2024 and have no work/professional IT experience. I am very confident in my ability to learn and perform in a position once I'm able to get myself in somewhere but I don't want to oversell myself on a resume as I only have some some hands on time with various different tools and tech from my time in school.

-I am targeting Helpdesk roles for experience or, ideally, Information Security Analyst or Cybersecurity Analyst roles.

-Located in United States.

-I've been applying to jobs all over the country, primarily on LinkedIn, but have a couple apps submitted on Glassdoor and Handshake as well.

-My only official IT experience is through my degree. I do have experiences with troubleshooting, setting up networks, building PCs, etc in a personal/hobby capacity. I currently work in a job in the pharmacy industry and looking to switch to IT. I process prescription prior authorization requests for a PBM (pharmacy benefits manager).

-So far I've applied to 50 or so jobs and only received a handful of responses, all indicating they are looking at candidates who more closely align with their goals and objectives. I believe my lack of work experience has been and will continue to be a major hurdle for me getting my foot in the door somewhere.

-I'm looking for advice on how to make my Experience and Skills descriptions help to sell myself better. I've never been much good at explaining why I'm the "best" or most "fit" for something, especially to people I don't know.

-I am a US citizen and am not looking for work outside of the country so status and visa are not a factor for me at this time.

-The Summary, Skills, and Experience section are not set in stone. I generally will change them to tailor to the specific role that I'm applying to (i.e. emphasis on helpdesk related skills for those positions and cyber/info sec if applying for those types, etc.).

Advice on writing my first resume

For context, I’m still an undergraduate student soon to look for my first job. I’m crafting my first resume which I’m stuck on because I don’t know how to justify the skills I plan to write.

I’m opting for a functional type but my issue is I feel like I don’t have enough proof to back up my skills like for example “Leadership”. The way I’ve yielded these skills is through small instances, not through formal positions or roles.

[O YoE, Survey Technician, Accounting adjacent field, US]

I am looking for a role in something accounting or accounting adjacent (Payroll, AP/AR, Bookkeeping, etc) so I can start gaining experience. I am currently taking online classes that will transfer into the university I'm planning on attending (WGU). The school is competency based so I will finish in a much shorter timeline compared to the traditional 4 years, and I'm looking ahead towards CPA requirements in my state (PA) which. is why I am trying to get experience, plus to generally bolster my future resume getting out of school.

I know my summary isn't great, I'm just not sure what to say to communicate what I'm trying to do but more importantly, why I am looking to leave my job after 7-8 months.

Hey!

I am a senior trying to land a new grad position as a fullstack, low level, or automated QA developer. I am an American citizen with an American name and have applied to over 100 jobs on LinkedIn & Handshake but have only gotten 2 interviews. While I do prefer remote positions, I have been applying to hybrid and fully in office jobs all across the US as I am open to relocation.

Any advice on my resume or just in general is much appreciated! Thank you so much.
