How and Where to Report Illegal Content (updated 2022)

Report to the Authorities

The best and easiest thing you can do is to report to the authorities. If you are unsure of where to submit your report, use NCMEC’s Cyber Tipline. They follow up on each tip submitted and can figure out what agency to work with without any extra effort on your part.

  • NCMEC Cyber Tipline: Report Child Sexual Exploitation
  • NHTRC Hotline: Report Human Trafficking
  • INHOPE International Directory: Report Child Sexual Abuse Material
  • Local Law Enforcement:
    • If there is an immediate threat or danger, you should contact your local law enforcement.
    • For local tips you may want to report to your area's police department through the non-emergency line instead or in addition to the NCMEC cyber tipline.

Report to Platform or Registrar

There are times when you maybe want to also reach out to the platform where the content is being hosted. You might be trying to remove content shared without your consent, OR you want to contact the platform in addition to law enforcement to secure data while ensuring it is not publicly available.

There usually is a way to report the content directly through the platform or app you are using.

Here are a few online report links for popular platforms. You can typically find these online by searching something similar to "report online abuse to ______" :
