Hello everyone! 👋 I am curious how everyone found out about the "Red Dwarf" series. I'll start. ☺️
In 2014 I lived in Alaska ❄️ and visited few friends. His roommate had Netflix on and I saw a picture of "Boys from the Dwarf" and asked him about it. He told me it's a show about the last human on Earth, a hologram, an android and evolutionized cat. I've been hooked since the first episode 🥹🥹
When lister is removing krytens head he removes it by turning it to the right, signifying it's a left hand thread.
When he fits the spare head he fits it by screwing it in the same direction which obviously wouldn't work to tighten, yet it does.
Only a minor niggle and one I've only just noticed after many many watches.
So I'm watching D.N.A and Lister tells the story about wishing he was a squirrel, because Kochanski had just broken up with him. I'd completely forgotten about this, I thought the retcon happened during series 7 when we see Lister coming back from planet leave. I don't think it gets touched on again until series 7. Prior to this Lister is pining over what might have been had he asked her out. I wonder if the line was just a throwaway or if they planned to change the story so early on. Obviously they had to change it for the Chloe Annett version of Kochanski.
I got dragged to a wedding this year so I wore my best stuff 🤩
Then it'll know I'm the sort of rough and tumble, hardened macho marine type that you do NOT want to mess with?
In Better Than Life, does anyone know or recognize the music when Rimmer enters the Observation Dome? I feel like it is also used in Twin Peaks. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Watching Matilda with the little one and Pam Ferris' performance is rather reminisccent of the one and only Chris Barrie as the fantastic swimmer Arnold Rimmer. Anyone else think so?

I watched the comic con convention thing in Scotland just now and I loved how they explained that Red Dwarf would never end because the end is the beginning. Badass. Was saddened to hear it would be an extended episode instead of a new series though, that got anything to do with RL as he seems to be doing a lot of other things now ? I wonder what a true goodbye would be though… I always imagined a Kirk/spock type ending between lister and Rimmer…not that exactly…but something to finally cement that lister and Rimmer were always best friends…loved how they touched on this throughout the show from time to time and especially their exchange in The Promised Land ( that really touched me) On a side-note why did the original kochanski actress never return to the roll as she had a few cameos I always remember her in reappear in Better than life.
Wifes obsessed with Xmas and spent the entire day today decorating the house. Bah Humbug! But this arrived in the post & only now does it feel festive! Merry Christmas Smegheads!

I found myself watching through Series VIII again over the past couple of days, probably for the first time since it was first released.
Honestly, apart from an odd fixation on some misogynistic storylines (and even those are clearly coded as 'bad', even if they're played for laughs) it was nowhere near as bad as I remembered it being.
A lot of the jokes between Rimmer and Lister landed great, and also those with Captain Hollister and, to a lesser extent, Ackerman.
The weakest episode of the series for me, now, is probably "Only The Good..." -- and that's only really because of Kochanski's idea about going to a mirror universe to get the antidote.
Which, by itself, isn't a problem, but it then just leads straight into a scene where they have acquired a machine out of literally nowhere that can create a pathway to a mirror universe, with no explanation as to how. Even for Red Dwarf, that doesn't seem quite right.
But yeah, much much better than I remembered it being.
