Ave: Gentlemans 2-1
Swamp vs T- Rex
Swamp: 3-0 IDC🤣 (with POTN)
Bigg K vs Nu Jersey Twork
Twork: 3-0
Hitman vs Geechi Gotti (BOTN)
Geechi: DEBATABLE 2-1🔥🔥🔥
Side note before I give my recap this crowd was absolutely ass. They were cool for a few battles but for the most part were noisey and unattentive. It def brought the energy down.
J2 2-1 clear maybe 30. Snake eyez up there calling him a fag while J2 was barring his mf life away. They were hella biased online and in the stream chat because J2 is gay. Idc avout his orientation that nigga got bars. First 2 rounds clear to J2 but I did like snakes "trans kids" angle, even though it was poorly executed.
Snake eyez might have to retire after this.
Ave 30. Ward was cool in the first and was getting alot of reaction. If you wanna debate this round I won't argue but I gave it to Ave anyway. Ave was punching but the crowd was just sleeping on him. 2nd and 3rd rounds were clear for Ave. I think it's clear who's the COTY.
Swamp and Rex is lowkey a toss up. First round I might've edged Rex. 2nd I gave swamp kinda comfortably. 3rd is debatable. On first watch I might've edged swamp 2-1 but this def needs another watch. The crowd was acting retarded during this battle shit was annoying.
Rex was not on fire like he has been in his other battles this year and I feel like he definitely needed to be.
Twork 30'd K. Alot of yall talked all that shit and the dog got put to fucking sleep 😴💯 Twork had this one bar "the first time you shot a gun you closed your eyes and hit something, what a fucking clown, the first time I shot a gun a nigga closed his eyes and hit something too...THE FUCKING GROUND" 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is not a debatable. This was a clear loss for K.
Geechi 2-1. This was kinda a weird battle. They were gassing the shit out of hitman and alot of his bars were either ass or didnt make sense. He said some shit like "you better be quick to bob like Marly" 🚮
Geechi was potent in his first. The 2nd round i feel like there's room for debate but the angle hitman took and the way he executed it was so poorly done to me I couldn't give him the round. 3rd I feel like geechi was still getting off but the crowd was dead and it kinda killed his momentum.
Overall this was a cool event. Started early and ended early. Crowd was ass. Audio was a little choppy at times. Stream was a little laggy, but overall, def was entertained.
What happens?
1st - Classic 1st round by Gotti, clear to Gotti, Holla wasnt bad - Gotti 1-0 clear
2nd - Another dark round by Gotti, better round by Holla but it got dark this round during Gotti’s, though he did lose some steam towards the end - Gotti 2-0
3rd - very underwhelming round for both, huge drop off for Gotti, was underwhelming for Holla but he didnt have a big drop off, his here and there moments during this round was enough to win this one at least
I got Geechi Gotti 2-1
Hitman Holla vs Geechi Gotti
Nu Jerzey Twork vs Bigg K
Swamp vs T Rex
Snake Eyez vs J2
Ave vs A. Ward

So I’m uh in Johannesburg for at least 3 weeks, what’s crackin out here these days? I know about the old Scrambles4Money days and not much else about what is current but if there’s any events or r/rapbattles peeps out here holla at me, I’m tryna get out and see what’s up!
Battle rap is in an interesting predicament right now. After Caffeine funds dried out, URL started the year off by saying “the money is not coming back.” John John, who runs Bull Pen Battle League, said “there’s no money in battle rap right now.” RBE’s ARP announced a retirement of sorts. King of the Dot has complained about being demonetized on YouTube, cutting off another revenue stream.
To offset that dire financial reality, PPV and event prices have gone up. Plus, there are more large scale battle events than ever. Just went on RapGrid and saw 4 relatively big events in the past two months & that’s not counting the last URL & KOTD events or the smaller league events with up and comers. So we have more events to pay for more frequently than ever and at a higher price per unit. And that’s also not taking URL app payments into account. That’s a lot of dough.
Do the battle leagues think the fans of this niche artform are independently wealthy? What gives? Who can afford $60 per event at this clip for this long? Besides me, I’m a billionaire. But you know, I like to think about others.
The fact of the matter is, some of us will shell out the cash here and there but there’s no real way to expect 100 percent support for even half these events. We’re in a soft recession, after all. And things might not turn around anytime soon. If milk is $10, you think we’re gonna pay $60 to see half the card forget their rounds, freestyle, and then argue 2-1 with inebriated crowd patrons? I don’t think so!
How are you handling this new influx of battle events at this price tier? Are you also a billionaire who can afford it? What can be done to turn this thing around so that it becomes self sufficient and sustainable over the long term?
Good example is Diz against Gjo saying the battle is a jellyfish -> real body. Are there any other rememberable ones?
Both funny as hell to watch as a 3rd party😂. I feel like leaving him alone gotta be worse. U getting yo ass whooped so bad niggas start feeling bad and telling yo opponent to stop😂😂😂
Hes a FAR better writer, better overall battler, made a bigger impact within the culture, a bigger draw; Bartone is just better than Syco every aspect at this point (always has been really). Yea Bartone took some gut wrenching losses (Syco has taken some too) but Bartone always finds away to put himself back in the runnings for at least top 10 battler of the year. Syco still hasn't recovered from that Cashtro loss. Bartone is just, better.
