Ramsgate is a seaside town in the district of Thanet in east Kent, England. It was one of the great English seaside towns of the 19th century and is a member of the ancient confederation of Cinque Ports. It has a population of around 40,000. Ramsgate's main attraction is its coastline and its main industries are tourism and fishing. The town has one of the largest marinas on the English south coast and Port of Ramsgate has provided cross channel ferries for many years.

Hi all,
I am undertaking a research project into wind farm perception into the South East of England and the kay causes of certain viewpoints. This research requires a survey which I am currently piloting. The surveys attached are on Google Forms - any feedback on these would be greatly appreciated and a huge help to the project. Ramsgate is a key focus of the survey due to its close proximity to the London Array wind farm - however, if you are not from Ramsgate your feedback is still valuable and there are options to say that you do not live there. The survey is short and should take between 5-10 mins to complete, and there is a section at the end where you can leave any feedback. Alternatively, I am happy to receive feedback via private message or replies to this post and can answer any questions you may have.
Responses are crucial to this research and therefore for anyone taking the time to complete these and leave feedback it is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Hello, we are a group of psychology researchers from the University of Kent, UK. It would be a huge help if anyone from Britain who is interested would fill out our quick survey (18+ years old only) about your views of refugees.
Fill out the survey here: https://universityofkent.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_4U6y8pi1se8YjrM
We are posting here because we hope to collect responses from British participants with various political perspectives and backgrounds. Please let us know if you would like a summary of your responses once the data collection is complete.
The survey takes ~7 minutes to complete, and we are happy to respond to any queries or questions. Please private message us to avoid giving away the point of the study to others.
Thanks for your time.
Edit: The survey is now closed! Thank you very much for your time.
Hi! My name is Kathryn Phillips and I am a PhD student from Canterbury Christ Church University. My PhD concerns men who have experienced unwanted sexual contact in adulthood. The goal of my research is to make recommendations to the police to improve the police response to male survivors.
This post has been made to advertise my survey. The survey is for men who have experienced unwanted sexual contact and asks about your decision of whether to report the contact to the police, and if you did so, your experiences of the police. You do not need to have reported to the police in order to participate, however.
The survey is completely anonymous and all data will be held strictly confidential. If there are any questions in the survey you feel uncomfortable answering, you may skip these and leave them blank.
To be eligible to participate:
If you are interested in participating, you can find out more and participate by following this link: https://app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk/s/canterbury/mss
Any questions? You can email me (kp347@canterbury.ac.uk) or comment below.
Thank you.
EDIT: The survey will be closing 31st August 2024 at 11:59pm. Thank you so much to all those who participated and those who left kind comments.
Hi there!
I’m starting work in the nearby area and have been trying to secure a 1 bed flat for myself and my partner. So far I’ve had two applications which have failed and I’m really struggling to find something in time for work.
Anyone here been through the struggle? Can anyone offer some tips?
Thank you!
Where to go on a visit
I am visiting with my wife as we won a hotel night in Tunbridge Wells this Saturday evening .
We are only staying one night and it’s a fair drive so won’t have long but want to make the most of our stay. We will likely spend one day just checking out the town and local shops.
What are your recommendations on what else we should try and see while we are there?
I’d love to hear your ideas of things we could see while we are there that we won’t be able to see elsewhere.
Thanks
I have been trying to find a local service (or person) for occasional newspaper delivery for my grandparent who is housebound. I have tried all of the usual local online delivery services (deliveroo etc) but for some reason none of them offer newspapers and magazines, even though they are coming from the same shops!
Maybe I am missing something but it seems impossible to get unless signing up for a regular delivery. If anyone knows a way of getting them a newspaper that would be really apreciated?
Has Ramsgate been at all affected by the Ex-London horde similar to how Margate has changed in recent years?
I’m not from Ramsgate as you might tell, but just thought I’d ask as I have no clue. Cheers
Hey hey,
Looks like the wife has accepted a position in Ramsgate later this year, and we're hoping to move into catchment for a decent primary school. Which ones would you avoid, or be most drawn to? Are the religious schools in Thanet suitable for a more secular family, or should we avoid those? Do any have a better reputation for kids with SEN? I know most schools have their SEN budget stretched to the limit, but we'd rather go where that sort of thing is at least a nominal priority. We've visited once, but we're still developing as sense of the area. It seems like Ramsgate will be a good fit for us though, better than Bedford anyway!
Hello, we are a group of psychology researchers from the University of Kent, UK. We are conducting a study about UK citizens' views and perceptions of society and we are trying to recruit a representative sample from different areas in the UK, including people from Ramsgate.
It would be a huge help if any UK citizens interested would fill out our online survey (18+ years old only):
EDIT: The survey is now closed! Thank you very much for your time, we will be sure to post the results up here when they're ready.
The survey takes around 15 minutes to complete, and we are happy to respond to any queries or questions. Please private message us to avoid giving away the point of the study to others.
Although the study is voluntary, participants who complete the survey will have the option to take part in a raffle of three Amazon Vouchers (£20).
Thank you in advance for your time!
Just here for a night, got caught in the rain but got this view. Nice town, bought cronoughts and board games...will be back.
This survey has now been closed, thank you for your interest!
[Hello!
I’m currently working on my Product Design Degree Major project.
I created a survey about an imagined scenario regarding the purchase and consumption of an on-the-go value meal deal for lunch (such as the ones found in the UK) - typically containing a Main, a Snack, and a Drink.
My goal is to design a sustainable alternative, but I need your help to find out what you need so that together we can make a difference!
Here’s the link: https://forms.gle/rohNRorqGEdhVGLZ7
If you have a few spare minutes, please consider taking the survey, and sharing it with others!
Thank you!]
Hi - moving to Ramsgate soon, from Margate. I was in Ramsgate town centre the other day looking for a coffee shop/cafe where I'd be able to charge my phone, but really struggled to find one. First port of call was Caffe Nero, but it was the first time I've ever seen a Nero anywhere that doesn't have at least a couple of plug sockets in the benches. I know Plan Burrito has them, as I've been in before, and I assume Wetherspoons down on the harbour does (as of course does the library), but I'm thinking more along the lines of a coffee shop - somewhere I can nip into for 20 minutes and pay a couple of quid for a drink and just briefly charge my phone if I ever need to, as I did the other day. I'm aware that this is a bit of a first-world problem and that some independent cafes will deliberately not have sockets in order to save on electricity expense (and/or to discourage people from hogging tables for ages), but every other large-ish town or city I've visited in the UK in the last couple of years has at least a few coffee shops/cafes that have cottoned on to people's preference for being able to charge their phone at some/most tables. I'm hoping Ramsgate isn't an exception?
How many times did it need to happen to warrant a sign?!

If you can spare 10 minutes to complete the questionnaire it would be greatly appreciated.

We are open 6-11pm every night
Ideally, somewhere that has a decent wine selection and is open late (until 10/11 pm).
I understand that I am asking for a quite last-minute recommendation, but the date is tomorrow lol
