Doesn't matter if we're talking about the mountain or the beer, this is a place for all things Rainier.

Dry in Florida

I visited Seattle in 2019 and tried Rainier beer for the first time and fell in love with it. I wish I could have some shipped to Florida.

Visited Mount Rainier National Park today and the rangers were being total jerks

We were trying to go up to Paradise, and the rangers had closed off the road saying that the lot was full. So we parked at the bottom and were about to walk up when they opened it up and said they are sending some cars up. So we got back into our car and tried to go back up, but I think the ranger was upset because my wife told him that the way they are doing this ain’t fair. So, as soon as we got up to the ranger he stopped us and told us to go the other way again. So we turned around again and again as soon as we got up to the line the rangers stopped us and told us to go the other way. At this point I was sure that they were doing it on purpose. My wife ended up getting into an argument with them and they finally let us get up to paradise but they seriously ruined my mood. There was no need for them to do what they were doing. Just let people go up and they will come back down if there is no room. They were making the entire situation. Worse.

On the bright side, the park is beautiful.

Two way radio found

Found a two way radio on the road near the sunrise entrance. It has a carabiner attached to it and was set to a channel (which I will ask you to confirm) if it is yours. Happy to ship it to the owner if they can claim it!

Smoke at Rainier

We went to Mount Rainier last Thursday and it was covered in smoke. We are considering going back tomorrow (Tuesday, 17th). Just wanted to know if the smoke has officially cleared.

does anyone know what those noisy clicking butterfly-shaped bugs are, just above the alpine meadows on Rainier?

Temperature on Chenuis Falls?

Hi all,

I’m going to be hiking the Chenuis falls trail on Saturday (coming in from Chicago). I can’t figure out what the temperature will be like though. The only information I can find seems to be for the summit of Rainier.

Thanks
