Potentially moving to Racine, looking for information about the place.

Job opportunity is leading to this post. Currently lining in Denver with wife and 3 kids. I'm hoping to gain insight even before flying out on the general area. I guess that's the best place to start.

Which airport is best to fly in and out of?

How are the schools?

Is there a lot of community events?

How's the weather?

How's traffic?

What is there to do in Racine? Do people just go to Milwaukee and Chicago?

Is the lake a big part of the community?

What do you recommend checking out/staying away from?

Any insight at all is super helpful! Thanks in advance!

Catholic parish w/ young families?

New to the area, looking for a Catholic parish with plenty of young families. We’ve tried St. Rita’s near us and it seems to have, on average, an older parishioner population. Many thanks in advance for your recommendations!

Do Salmon go Past the Root River Dam off HWY 38?

Recently started taking up salmon fishing and wanna check out some rivers further away from me. If there are any salmon fishers who fished the Root River viewing this, can you confirm whether or not they go past the dam, (into towns that appear to be Oak Creek, Greendale and regions such as that).

Thank you!

Restaurant Recommendations?

Hi all,
My friend and I are visiting the area for the second time soon, and we’re big foodies looking for recommendations. We love local mom-and-pop shops with good portions, but we really just want to know what your favorite places in the area are. We’re also open to trying more foreign cuisine, though it seems harder to find around here.

Places we loved last time:

  • David Alan Alan's Smokehouse (Mukwanago)
  • Indian Village (Greenfield)
  • Waterfront Warehouse (Kenosha)
  • Cotton Exchange (Waterford)
  • Meli Cafe (Racine)
  • Texas Roadhouse (we know it’s a chain, but we liked it!)

We’ll be staying in Waterford but are willing to travel for great food.
Thanks!

Place to replace watch batteries?

Can anyone recommend a place to replace my watch batteries? I'm not sure if I can go to any old jewelry store or if it has to be a watch specialist.

Look out for these missing people and any evidence of them please

There are missing people from the Racine area, they are mostly old cold cases but still deserve attention for the sake of the families. I've listed them below, also a link to a page with more information for each. Please keep on the lookout for them as well as evidence of them, clothing, shoes, jewelry, even bones - most of the time people assume they are animal bones, and most of the time they are, but it's worth checking with authorities about it. Please don't downvote me, I'm just trying to help these families get answers.

  1. Lasheky Hill, 1300 block of Douglas Avenue * not an old case, just went missing in the last year. $2,200 reward for information
  2. Lynn Rickard, Hickory Haven home park area, Dover $50,000 reward
  3. Norbert Stapleton, Burlington, near where the Stepping Stone Halfway Home was
  4. Chris Winkler, Burlington Bohner's Lake area
  5. Jeff Cluey, waterside, left from 5th Street dock
  6. Alex Radtke, found safe!

Thanks so much, Stay safe folks.
