Here you can submit racetrack designs that you have doodled, drawn out, made on the computer, etc. Be original in your designs, and remember, have fun!

Have fun, and please submit! Don't be shy! Let's see those designs!

Thank you to /u/SirDunny, /u/melvynlennard, /u/hiddendatsun and /u/tirinkoor for flair!

The RTD Wiki is a great place to start if you're looking for information about the sub or racetrack design resources.

RULES:

  1. Remember the human. Very few spambots post here - there's always another human person on the other side of the screen.
  2. Keep your criticism constructive. Nobody's saying you have to like what you see (art is subjective!), but if you don't like a post, try to understand what OP's going for, and assist them.
  3. Original submissions only. Posted designs must be your own work (with some exceptions)
  4. Design Guidelines: Posts that do not follow the design guidelines will be removed.
  5. Redesign Guidelines: Redesigns of existing race tracks must also follow the redesign guidelines or be removed.
  6. Memes and bandwagoning: /r/RTD is not a meme sub. Low-effort jokes, low-effort memes, and bandwagoning will be removed.
  7. Unofficial Competition Guidelines: If your competition idea is too big for an RTD Challenge, setting up your own competition is allowed, with restrictions.
  8. Don't make "this looks like X circuit" comments. Comments like "This looks like/reminds me of X Circuit/gives me X vibes" aren't useful or constructive, and most of the time any superficial similarity in top-down layout is meaningless - with elevation, length, width, camber etc. taken into account the circuits will drive and race completely differently. If you see a similarity, expand upon why you think they're similar, and why that similarity is important. Comments that are just "looks like X" will be removed.
  9. Don't escalate conflicts. If something doesn't comply with the above rules, please report it. If a post has been removed, don't add to the comments. Trying to own/get back at a troll or a spammer doesn't do any good.
  10. Misinformation/Fake News: While detail and realism are acceptable (even encouraged!), attempting to present content from RTD as a real circuit on other platforms is not allowed.
  11. Moderator discretion applies. Trying to rules lawyer your post back into existence won't work when you're breaking the spirit of the rules. Publicly making a scene over moderator action is a bad look and could call for further action from the mods.

UK Formula E City Suggestions

I really need some help badly…

I’m trying to find a UK city that could serve as a good place to fit a FE street circuit in, and subsequently replace the increasing outgrown Excel circuit FE currently used I tried fitting one in London itself, but the majority of the streets are either too long with no rooms for energy regeneration chicanes, or too narrow with 0 chances for decent racing.

I’ve looked at others, including Manchester, Birmingham and Liverpool, but all suffer similar issues. Is there any specific areas where you could suggest for a decent UK FE circuit?

P.S. No park/ green spaces please. FE already tried that with Battersea, and it was disastrous…

My first ever track, any tips or changes you would make? (For reference: Rough length = 3.5 miles, clockwise and likely banking around the 3rd corner, mild banking on the 6th and probably some elevation change especially between the 8th and 11th corners

Estonian Raceway (5.1 km)

Starting in 2031, Formula 1 will welcome a thrilling new addition to its calendar: the Estonian Raceway! Nestled amidst the lush landscapes of Estonia, this circuit celebrates the country’s growing motorsport culture, inspired by homegrown talents like Jüri Vips and the talented Aron brothers, Ralf and Paul.

The Estonian Raceway is a 5.1-kilometer technical challenge, featuring a balanced mix of turns and straights that will keep both drivers and fans on edge. For the full Grand Prix layout, the track includes 11 exciting corners – with six right-hand turns and five left-handers – designed to test the skill and bravery of the world's best drivers. There's also a shorter 6-corner configuration available for other racing events, emphasizing speed and intensity. With a capacity for 95,000 spectators, including spacious grandstands positioned at key spots around the track, every fan is guaranteed a phenomenal view of the action.

For those looking for a more adventurous experience, extensive general admission areas provide panoramic views, all surrounded by Estonia’s natural beauty. The track itself has everything a modern race fan could wish for: high-speed corners, tight chicanes, and slower technical sections that create thrilling opportunities for overtakes and strategic moves.

Don’t miss the chance to be part of a new era in Formula 1 and experience the magic of the Estonian Raceway firsthand!

Looking for a track design

At one point there was a track design that was floating around, it took a bunch of sections from other tracks and combined them into one, can someone help me find it?

Question

I am currently making an F1 track in Blender (i'm not making it look realistic. I saw a video of an app called Lapz.io on the Apple Vision pro for F1, and I am making the track in the style they used). The track layout is one I made myself. I have the track itself, runoff areas, pit lane (photo below), grandstands (photo below), roads going around the track, and a pit building made right now. It looks a little empty though. What other buildings can I put to make it look more populated. Are there any other buildings that go behind the pit building or around the track? tysm in advance.

CHAOS IN COPENHAGEN RESULTS

Once again, thank you to all our participants, and thank you to the 50 of you that helped in deciding the winner of this competition.

There were many issues with this competition. It was my first as the comp/challenge operator, but I look to rectify these issues and put on only the best competitions in the future.

Now, on to voting.

First off, I'd like to clarify how the winner will be chosen. The three categories where voters ranked their top three contestants (Overall, layouts, and presentation) have points tied to the votes they got. A first-place vote is worth three points, second is worth two, and third-place votes are worth one point. Whichever contestant has the highest combined number of points will be declared the contest champion.

The frivolite categories are determined purely off of number of votes and are there more for fun, thus not counting towards the final points.

link to voting announcement which has links to all submissions

link to full voting spreadsheet for anyone interested in checking out the extra categories.

All of that being said, let's get into the scores!

Look out for an announcement in the coming days on an outlet for you guys to talk directly to the mods, but mainly me, about what you all want from competitions in the future.

Kanterra Racing Circuit

Buildings and surrounding scenery still unfinished, will be doing the track elevation diagram after its finished. Anyways the GP circuit is like a street circuit, so its why I didn't put any runoffs for it. I don't think its even possible to race in sunlight with formula cars, Singapore is just too hot for it, unless its a GT race or something Currently spent a total of 13 hours making this so yeah enjoy!
