New engine I built myself so every start is still a bit exciting lmao
Hey guys. I'm wondering if anyone can let me know the specifics of what is needed to swap a transmission from a 350z into my rx8?
Car lays frame and I’d like to know how to fix/replace a fuel line, I know everyone is gonna say to raise the car so it doesn’t happen again but I already have a plan on how to prevent it from scraping through. Would simply like some input on fuel line replacements and how to go about it these are the fuel lines in the rear that run up to the front
CAN bus is awesome.
My obd2 sensor won’t connect. There is no engine light, what to check?
The obd2 shows that it have power but not connecting to torque app
Seems to be the oil pump, is this something I want to attempt to fix myself or do I just give it to a mechanic. Cars in limp mode if that helps with troubleshooting.
I’ve changed transmissions, clutches, brakes, etc on other cars but I’ve really only changed the spark plugs, coils, and spark plug wires on my 8. Idk how hard of job changing the oil pump would be, so yeah what do yall think?

I am new to this subreddit, and I always seem to be here when it comes to questions.
I have a code for P0336, and I just ordered an OEM part for it.
Anyways, I also wanted to get a new starter, due to my starter being super bipolar, so I think it’s time for a change.
I’ve been looking at different starters, but I’m so confused on which one I should get..
I was looking at a PG-19127, however I can’t tell if it’s compatible with my MT..and I’m mad scared whether I should purchase it or not.
I also found an M001TA0271 from RaceCar Performance Supply which is the same N3R3 starter. However again I’m not sure if it’s compatible with an MT.
Any advice?
Series 2 for $16k US dollars at 30k miles, manual. The car is clean and not modded. 16k seems a lot right? My other option is to get a close to rebuild cheaper car. What is you opinion? If I get this series 2 and it needs a rebuild soon I will not be able to afford because it will take my whole budget.
I bought mine and drove it for a few days with a different license plate and then had it in the garage for 2 weeks without disconnecting the battery, now I got my new registration and license plates so I started driving it again and my motor didn’t start so I used a jumper device to get the engine to work. Now every time I shut the car off it wont start without me hooking up the starter and giving the battery some juice before driving. Also my lights started flickering and eventually went out completely and they wont turn on again. I also witnessed that the middle console of the car gets really warm, might that be a problem of the cooler? Essentially my question do I need a new battery (the one I have now is allegedly new from the old owner) or do I need a new alternator. What I know is that I need new front lights immediately.
Today i woke up,Turned on the rx8 went to work got out put gas came home then turned on the car went to get food, came back home,And when i went to start the car again the car just would not crank the red key inside the car on my dash is flashing fast and sometimes slow,I tried disconnecting my battery and nothing tried jumping and nothing i ordered a new starter relay but i dont know if its really that, I also dont know if my key is dead but it makes no sense that it would be if i can unlock and lock the car,Btw when i try to crank the car the dash stays on but my radio turns off
Why is my clutch pedal getting stuck in the middle? I also hear a squeak under the car when pressing the clutch in also it won’t go into gear
I want to get an RX8 as a project/toy car. Had one when I was younger and think it would be very enjoyable to work on and use for weekend driving.
I would like to do an engine rebuild so I am only looking at non running with engine issues.
How much would you spend on a non running manual RX8 in decent shape?
Additionally if you have rebuilt a rotor what are some resilience’s you’d recommend?
So here we go, another issue after just fixing one.
I replaced my starter motor today and took it for a run, stopped to fuel up and the battery kept cutting out. This happened maybe 4 times unti realised i was tightening it at the top of the connector and not the base where its thicker.. Tightened them up properly, start the car and i get the engine warning and limp the car home.
The cars never threw a OMP issue at me before and its been sat for a few months, today was the first day i took it out properly.
Is it possible the battery shorting out caused the fault to kick in? Looking to try anything before i need to get into the OMP and check the connectors and sensors. Ive also got a SOHN waiting to get put in if this will help any.
I’m putting Gauges on my 8 and I need to know Accessory Power, Constant Power, Ground and headlight switch from these wires. Unfortunately, I don’t have the battery connected as my car is undergoing a rebuild. Was hoping I can get some answers on here. Thank you..
I have an rx8 13b renesis engine that was overheated.
I think the cause was a faulty coolant tank cap that popped and causing coolant to escape.
My understanding is that if a coolant seal was blown, it would be billowing out white smoke while running? I've only started it once since then and it seems to start and idle normally, however I only ran it long enough to pull it into the garage.
Should I replace the tank/cap, thermostat, temp sensor, and give it a go? Or should I pull apart the keg and visually check for any issues.

I've recently acquired my donor car for a track build, im specifically intending to race it in T4 with the SCCA. I currently race a BRZ in T4 so am not a total novice in the world, but was wondering if anyone has by chance a build sheet from a similar RX8 build? Eh? Eh?
Does anyone have any ideas why my 2004 RX8 is doing this? It does it super randomly when I’m sitting at a stoplight or in driveway etc. It could do it 4 times a drive or none it has no pattern. CEL is due to O2 sensor failure in my car converter. Any advice would be appreciated, thank you :)

I was in a non fault accident last week where someone crashed into the driver side of my RX8 R3, damaging the rear door, wheel arch and sills. My insurance trying to write my car off as a result and have offered £4500 which I think is very low.
I appreciate that rotaries are for a niche market of people but the catch here is that I had my engine rebuilt in April 2022 after it went kaput (surprise, surprise) and have done less than 10k miles on it since (it’s currently on 83k miles).
I had a like for like rebuild so no changes to the engine so didn’t declare it on my insurance, despite it obviously having an affect on the value of the engine/car. I did however update the value on my insurance to what the car had been valued at earlier this year (£7500 - I’ve had a few other mods done to the car, hence the higher value - these were declared on the insurance)
My question is, as I didn’t declare the engine rebuild, will it invalidate my insurance if I use this as a point to boost the value of the car? If anyone has had anything similar to this happen to them, any help would be gratefully appreciated!

Had my 2004 rx8 for nearly a year and loving it.
Compression is decent, starter motor, spark plugs, coils and leads are all replaced as well as the crank shaft position sensor.
Occasionally when cold starting, my car cranks for several seconds with no ignition happening, only starter motor, sputters a tiny bit and then turns on. This only happens on cold starts, hot starts have actually been really good since I replaced the starter motor.
She starts first try every time, but I’m a little concerned about what’s causing these long cold starts. Anyone have any ideas?
Hello doing a clutch replacement on my '04 and was wondering if the pilot bearing seal is really needed? No one has it and it would have to be ordered through the dealer. I've done clutch jobs before and never saw such a seal for other applications. Honestly don't see what it could be sealing out besides maybe small debris as no fluid moves through the area.
