Hi all,
There is a new game being developed by Red Rover Interactive due to begin broader play test towards the end of September. I usually miss out on play tests as I don't sign up in time or hear about the projects early enough. This post is for enyone that is interested in testing early development games (for free of course)
The staff in the studio have previously worked on projects for Bohemia Interactive, Crytek, Ubisoft and more such as DayZ, Crysis 2, Division and others.
I like to think of it as Rust on rails, but already so much better. DayZ, Rust and other fans of the survival genre will enjoy this.
To sign up for the play tests go to the Discord link below and head to the #sign-up channel. The game runs through Steam.
https://discord.gg/projectcoltrane
On the Discord the staff are active always and there's more information with another update thats just been released
Abit about the game;
It's a PVP survival game set on a train where the main aim is to reach the front and control the engine ans Conductor. The Conductor has the freedom the rule the train how they wish, with compassion or an iron fist. As long as you can enforce your will.
You can build, craft and loot various weapons and gear to help you survive, but ultimatley "The Train Provides!"
The play test train is known as Shirley and is ever helpful with questionable motives.
The Development team have all shared a dislike for kill on sight situations, althought combat is inevitable and an integral part ot Project Coltrane, the real emphasis is on social interactions and player freedom to embody the role the truly want to play.
It's stil in very early development but has big plans for the project - some hints on the server about what to expect, and are encouraging players to come and take part and help shape the future of the game.

Hello everyone, I’m doing my PhD in marketing and I’m focusing on esports sponsorships. Until the end of 2019 I will be doing 4 different surveys on this topic. Each survey will be launched only once and on different months to avoid fatiguing the community. The only exception is the 2nd survey which will be launched a second time, one month after all 4 surveys have been launched, because I need a larger sample for the 2nd survey.
All surveys are anonymous and done on Google Forms (a completely safe website). The data from the surveys will be used for my PhD thesis and to develop 6 articles that will be published in scientific journals. The participation of all esports fans is extremely important and greatly appreciated (surveys are only for people who watch/participate in esports).
This is the 2nd survey. It takes about 8 minutes to complete and is related to the benefits, risks, and strategies of sponsoring esports. Here is the survey: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdUacl74DMc_BofKbD90NwRmohYAAgBlXmjjG_-P3QBmP6hCw/viewform?usp=sf_link
Thank you so much in advance.
I understand that this subreddit is not strictly related to esports but, since it has a gamer user-base, there may be some who watch/participate in esports.
If you are interested in easily following my next surveys (and their results), you can follow me here on Reddit or on Twitter: @EsportsAnalyses
This survey has been approved by the kind moderators.
Is this where I ask why i can't register to rugc for /r/dota2trade?
Someone Is Griefing on The MGE SERVER please one admin can help me...2 engies are griefing on the MGE server at the spawn in skybox please one admin can help me?.............
Hey all,
I'm wezlyyy, I run a small TF2 and mumble server hosting company ( http://www.wezlyyy.com/ )
I need help. Too many customers.
If you are looking to get a solid job right away this is not the place for you.
I'm looking for some interns that are willing to learn my system inside and out, and that I can trust. Then, we can discuss payment opportunities.
I'm flexible, I don't even need this to be a part time thing, more like a paid hobby.
You will be giving basic support through our website + steam chat.
Add me ( http://steamcommunity.com/id/wezlyyy/ ) , thanks!
Since my Highlander team fell apart, I've had a server just sitting around doing nothing. I've been wanting to set up a nocrit server that runs both stock and custom maps used in UGC matches, and I figured it might be worth looking into the RUGC. I have a map list put together if anyone is interested.
Who do I need to contact to discuss this? What requirements are there for a RUGC server?
EDIT: By the way, this would be a Colorado server.
how else will i vote ban haackers?
EDIT: Ok i wasn't in the best state when I posted this, but if theres a hacker or an asshole who everyone wants gone, and theres no admin around, it'd be nice to vote ban or vote kick someone
Hi we recently set up the youtube channel http://youtube.com/user/baconcape and would like your feedback on our videos!
Specifically our weekly gaming podcast - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gJs5MkUmn0
Do you like it? Would you listen to it every week? What would make you listen to it every week? How can we improve?
Thanks Adam
I've noticed that a lot of RUGC Servers have disappeared in the past year.
The ones I know that are still around are:
US & Canada:
Europe
Unfortunately, our official list over on the sidebar still has servers that no longer exist in it. The servers that are gone now include:
There is currently an effort to revive westtoo at 192.31.21.150:27015, but I can't say how much traction it has.
/r/tf2au has been recycled as a general chat for TF2 for Australian players. The other subreddits and their associated servers are just dead.
Our stats also include servers that don't exist any more:
Strangely, MGEMod Atlanta is also not present despite MGEMod Europe being on there.
Our official server list page also has some dead servers:
Unfortunately, I don't know who here has the ability to update these lists... I'm only an admin over at RUGC_Midwest.
I'm doing a uofreddit.com class on Korean this Sunday and whatnot in the rugc's dota2>redditclass channel. I was wondering if i could get voice priority (or maybe even mod but i'll settle with just voice priority) just for that specific channel.
Here's the uofreddit link: http://uofreddit.com/class/88869
I'd be happy to meet an admin and discuss it in ''person'' over mumble, but every time I check the place nowadays I can't any admins anywhere at all.
there's a growing community over at /r/marvelheroes and the game is horribly equipped for finding groups. I think a channel on the mumble server would really help get this fledgling game off the ground.
Can a knowledgable server admin (who knows about system specs and reqs for hosting multiple tf2 servers, replay, etc.) add http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198004101092 please?
I'm sick of dealing with this. This is my last try. Slurms, if you delete this, I will post it to /r/tf2, /r/RUGC, and any other subreddits that would be willing to listen.
First of all, there is no point to link ANYONE to the throwaway because it has no effect on the throwaway’s message. At best, linking the throwaway to me means that my extended time on West adds clout to the throwaway’s message. At worst, leaving the throwaway unlinked to any West regulars means Slurms & Co can attack the account by saying its a newcomer starting drama or something similar.
Ultimately, this means that it is disadvantageous for him to do what he is doing. But he wants to ruin my name by linking my account to the throwaway that Slurms and his friends are actively fucking with. Why me? I have no idea, although it is apparently a hunch of his that I am the throwaway despite having no evidence of this.
I have mentioned in several places that I refuse to a confirm or deny that I am the throwaway because it may or may not demean the throwaway’s message, as well as the fact that doing so would only help Slurms narrow down his options as to who the throwaway can be. I have repeatedly contacted Slurms to post his evidence that I am the throwaway.
Two days ago, I added Slurms on Steam to discuss this issue privately but he denied my friend request when he first created his thread.
A day ago, I posted my initial request here on his thread that he take down my information but he continued responding to others and never responded to me: http://www.reddit.com/r/tf2west/comments/12rqn7/analysis_of_events/c6xo1k9
18 hours ago, I sent him a private modmail to only Slurms asking him to take down my information, which he also ignored; I received no response. : http://imgur.com/OG7RS
9 hours ago, I sent a modmail to ALL of the mods (including Slurms). Key points are that they responded to me quickly because one of the mods thought I was Babies. He was corrected by another mod and then promptly received no help, as well as a ban: http://i.imgur.com/hiNut.png
Now my TF2West thread was deleted: http://www.reddit.com/r/tf2west/comments/12ufgp/last_attempt_at_trying_to_fix_this_mess/
I also have more from other mods that refused to help out but figured that this would be enough.
I’m done with West. Funny thing is that since I know most everyone on West, so I’m sure that the vast majority of West players aren’t the ones doing the harassing. There are many players from other TF2-related subreddits commenting on TF2West threads, so I’m assuming that’s where the harassment is coming from but I won’t speculate where they are from. I would imagine looking at each of their comment histories and seeing where they tend to post would be enough to find that out.
Anyways, since the mods won’t delete my information, I will delete my reddit account and change my nick as soon as I know for sure I won’t need to have the account anymore to prove the messages sent by the mods. If this post somehow changes their mind (I doubt it), I will delete this thread and (try to) forget it happened.
Long story short, I love Halo's arena-shooter style multiplayer, depth of custom content, and deep stat tracking/rank progression over a career. However I'm through paying Microsoft $50/yr to play Xbox Live and I no longer have any consoles.
My Influences (assets I enjoy are italicized):
Note: Not all arena shooters
Zombie Studio's MMOFPS Blacklight: Retribution is one of my favorite free-to-play games lately because I love the loadout customization and the playstyle created with HRV. I lost a lot of interest for the game when I realized that it would take me months just to get a single loadout I wanted to try and keep it.
My biggest time sink has been Halo: Reach and Halo 3 mostly due to the incredible time it takes to reach max rank, but more importantly because of the neverending user-generated content. I also found that the games fit in the "sweet spot" between approachability (meaning I could get my friends to play) and metagame depth (meaning I could spend weeks discussing strategies with my teammates online).
Quake Live comes close to this margin of difficulty, but there is an admittedly vast valley between being mediocre and being good at the game, which I don't dislike the game for. It's my current game, but I'm not so passionate about it that I'll want to play until I'm extremely skilled. What I love about it is the familiar gameplay and large community.
This may confuse the snot out of anyone reading, but another two favorite FPSs of mine are Brink and Shadowrun and I group them together because I enjoy them for basically the same reasons. They both have pretty well balanced classes that can be customized through sidegrades and not upgrades, as well as implementing creative gameplay mechanics like freerunning in Brink and magic in Shadowrun. Sadly, both of these games have nigh-exterminated communities.
For years, Team Fortress 2 has been held close to my heart, and deservedly so. The game has a massive, creative community and stupid fun gameplay with an impossible list of collectibles but for a combination of the reasons listed, it never feels competitive to me and simply tracking hours and "best of" records isn't satisfying.
Nexuiz rocks, and I love the dynamic mutators system, but it's missing the character progression, customization, and sense of community that I'm looking for. I feel like there's nothing to talk about before or after the game, since it's basically skill and luck, and nothing else. The eight or so maps are easily learned in a day.
The perfect game to me for about a month was Battlefield 1943 the month it was released on XBLA. After the first few weeks, the three massive maps had already lost a bit of interest, and shortly following that, the online activity was already starting to wind down. What I loved was balanced classes, good vehicle use, and the variety of valid playstyles.
I am open to any suggestions, third person shooters are fine too, but I'm really looking for something close to arena style like Quake, or massive like Battlefield. But I want character progression and the Battlefield series has gotten less and less skill-based IMHO.
TL;DR I don't want your input if you won't at least read the italics.
List if any are spoken about:
So I'm working on getting a TF2 server up and running for my friends and anyone in r/RUGC and r/TF2, with a different map rotation for every day of the week (think obscure map Saturdays, CTF Mondays, A/D Tuesdays etc), and I have a Cron job to restart the server every day at midnight using a script I made in /etc/init.d/ that checks the day of the week and echoes the rotation into mapcycle.txt (Running Debian 6 on the server). The problem here is it would kick off anyone currently playing at the time. Is there a good way to, say, wait until a map finishes before restarting?
Any direction would be nice, even if it's just a different subreddit to post this to. Thanks!
I'm just hoping to get more people interested and involved in r/GameRanks. You can repost to replace any game that is archived, or post any standalone game that is missing or won't show up from a search (i.e. Zelda or 2012).
I know. It's ridiculous how many of the posts are archived currently, but as they get replaced the list should begin to live and evolve once again.
Happy Ranking!

Right now I personally think we could use some more mods/admins on the reddit trade server(non-vanilla). While I do see at least one admin/mod everyday(Elite, VideoVideo, MjrBuzz; very good admin/mod by the way). While this is a good number for most servers, it's not that great on this one. We have the problems of spammers, scammers, nether campers, etc. My opinion probably doesn't mean much here, as I'm new to this reddit, but I have plenty experience on the server.
/r/globaloffensive already has two CS:GO servers.
I threw up a test server:
Reddit Unofficial Gaming Community - East Coast CS:GO
199.241.28.123:27015
Do we want CS:GO servers in the RUGC?
Edit - nevermind, server couldn't handle the load
Edit2 - new one!
Hi, with the opening of the JC2-MP Beta, there's tons of redditors currently playing the game. I think we should have a channel and rooms for it.
