Hello! As the title states, i’m searching for games that feel like rune factory.
My biggest turn off in a game is one dimensional or boring npcs. As soon as they start repeating dialogue i’ve heard 10 times before I have to turn off the game. It completely kills it for me.
I’ve not had this issue with Rf at all, i love how the npcs feel and interact.
The combat is fun as well. Challenging but not so frustrating that I have to put the game down
I’ve played all the original harvest moon games, and i’ve played AWL remake, but found myself increasingly bored after getting married as I felt all the npcs just walked around town doing nothing important and repeating dialogue to me.
I have of course played stardew, but the same issue where the npcs bored me after a while.
TYIA!
Feel like playing a game when the things I do affect the outcome of the story in bigger ways. Kind of like in bg3 and F:NV (spoiler incase people haven't finished those games) >! how helping certain people/factions had benefits where they would come help you !< or (and I might be remembering wrong since it's been a while since I played it) but how in the outer worlds there was factions and doing certain things would please some or piss off others. I liked that I couldn't just do every quest and had to actually make allies/enemies.
For the ps5 please

Peace be upon you all, I miss trying out the graphics of old games again and how beautiful they were in their simplicity. I want your suggestions or recommendations for old games that are RPG games with a well-written and deep story. I hope the introduction of the game is clear from the beginning, like the introduction of the Nier games or Final Fantasy games. The type of graphics I want is as shown in the pictures. Thank you!

A traditional turn-based JRPG with a wild west twist.
The Curse of Mount Madre is an indie JRPG developed by me, Kevin Musto. After a successful Kickstarter campaign, this treasure hunting adventure launches on PC, via Steam, on January 20, 2025.
I’ve been a fan of JRPGs my whole life and I’ve always wanted to make one… and so I did! The game was influenced by genre classics like Wild Arms, Grandia, Ys, and even the limited footage that exists of Earthbound 64.
Liberty Valley—a small frontier town in the middle of the Badlands is where this tale takes place.
A coming of age adventure that follows two orphaned boys that team up with a veteran treasure hunter to uncover the secrets that lurk beneath the depths of the Mount Madre mines, in pursuit of infinite wealth.
Please consider wishlisting the game on Steam!
I'm looking for some nice 2000s dark fantasy medieval RPGs to add to my Steam collection. I'm a beginner when it comes to RPGs, but I'd like to share a list of 5 games I've enjoyed to give you an idea of my skill level and preferences:
I love RPGs with plenty of opportunities for farming XP and weapons/armors, and where exploring the world can yield great loot. I don't mind challenging games, as long as I can eventually "break" them.
Can anyone help me?
Hello, everyone! Although my username suggests that I'm an RPG enthusiast, I'm actually new to the genre and unsure where to begin. I plan to start with older games, specifically those from the NES era. I would love to hear recommendations from more experienced RPG players. Looking forward to your responses!
So I'm not a fan of the traditional JRPG genre, where you are forced to take damage and heavily strategize. I love the Mario & Luigi series where it takes actual skill in battles to fight and any damage you take is your own fault. I like the Persona series even though it technically is luck-based (I think it's the music and modern-day, non-fantasy setting that keep me invested). I've tried playing the original FFVII and I got frustrated after an hour or so, just because of the random encounters and the time-based quick-decision battle system. Would I like FFVII Remake and Rebirth better? I really want to experience the FFVII story but I hate the gameplay of the original.
Just bought a new pc with an RTX 4080 Super, I love bethesda games but I heard a lot of bad stuff about this game that it is boring as hell, I love Scifi and Bethesda games. My playthroughs are between 40-50 hours. I enjoy sidequests and the story and maybe do a little bit more stuff but I don't play games for hundreds of hours
I was told that it would fit my taste since I really enjoy summon builds and games where your party can fight on their own. I was wondering if I should try to give it another chance since I got too busy with work and kind of forgot about it. I really didn’t get far at all but the part I did play was pretty enjoyable I just don’t know if the game gets better or worse, what are your opinions on it?
Here's my specs:
RTX 3070
Ryzen 7 5700x3d
16 gb ram(which I plan to upgrade in a couple months)
I have dlss on legacy(I don't really care about dlss), play it on borderless and I close everything but discord, steam, and opera(which I cap at 2gb ram)
Any advice on what else I could do?

So I am trying to find games to play right now cause the steam sales just hit , but I can't buy every game that looks and sounds interesting. Cause here were i live games are pretty expensive
so what are some rpg games that you need to play ?
the more recommendations the better so recommend away !!!
Platform: pc
Experience level: veteran
Preference : open world , multiple endings , sandbox .
I don’t know if this is the right place to ask about the older games because hardly anyone talks about them due to the newer one, but I recently got a free copy of the games from Amazon Prime.
And to put it simply, since I have no experience with the series itself, I would like to know how they play as while I have had experience with turn based games like Final Fantasy, I again have no idea on how the Baldur’s Gate games work in their battle mechanics, so if this is the wrong place to ask about such things, please let me know.
To keep things short and sweet, players will be able to build their party from a list of 20+ classes divided into the general rpg archetypes - healers, fighters, rouge, etc..
I’m trying to determine what are play styles in turn based rpgs that people like and what are the styles in rpgs that you enjoy less.
I enjoyed these games:
BG3 (loved this one, but got kind of burnt out in act 3)
Fallout: New Vegas (really enjoyed this one!)
Cyberpunk 2077 (Not an RPG, I know. But thought I should mention it, because I enjoyed the gameplay)
I didn't enjoy these games:
Disco Elysium (just generally boring)
Kenshi (too repetitive/grindy)
I don't care that much about combat I can accept any bad combat, combat only becomes a feature for me if it's really high quality and unique. What I'm more interested in learning is if the game has good writing, dialogue options and story. I don't really want to play the game if the dialogue is boring and the world building is not outstanding.
I'm considering diving into an RPG, but I’m stuck trying to decide between Albion Online and Path of Exile 2. Both seem like great games, but I’m having trouble choosing which one will give me the best experience. Has anyone here played both? If so, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the key differences between them in terms of gameplay, story, and overall experience.

Hey! I feel like I've gotten to the point where all rpgs that're my "type" of game I've already played. I'm mostly into story-rich games where I can customize a character, and a huge fan of CRPGs. Its always a huge plus if I get to play as a woman but not needed, same with romance but I'm more ok if thats not included. I'd also prefer more modern games. I've attempted to play Baldurs Gate 1 before but had difficulty because of the age.
Rpgs I've already played, in no particular order:
-Baldurs gate 3
-DOS2
-WOTR,
-Kingmaker
-Rogue Trader
-Tyranny,
-Witcher 3,
-Rdr2
-Ghost of Tsushima
-Pillars 1 (didn't finish/like too much),
-Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West
-All Dragon Age games
-Fable 1
-Mass Effect LE (didnt finish)
-Greedfall
-Disco Elysium
-Cyberpunk 2077
-Hades 1 and 2 (not sure if that counts as an rpg but whatever)
-Skyrim
-and Fallout New Vegas.
There might be more but those are the ones that come to mind. Also if you couldn't tell from the list I prefer fantasy lol.
Any recommendations would be awesome :)
So i wanna play my first big rpg title, keep in mind that I've never finished a rpg title before I only played 3h of Witcher 3 and went through the first cutscene of skyrim (which was basically longer than most of the games I play) and now I feel like I'm ready to get into a big rpg game. Do you have any suggestions on what should I play?
