I'm trying to make a list of factors that distinguish whether a player would want to see the UI for picking up items, or not.
Puzzle-based RPG where details and clues are intentionally hidden/obscured? Probably not. Kingdom Come: Deliverance? Apparently yes.

I need recommendations on games to play recently just beat FF16 and had a blast. I am now ready to start another game however I did beat a lot of the popular games that most people recommend which include Zelda BOTW/TOTK, GOW, RDRD, and Elden Ring. I was thinking of maybe trying The Witcher as my brother recommended that game for me. I wanted to ask what you guys recommend as well.
Why, ty.
Hi, I'm looking for a singleplayer rpg's that follow this routine:
You start in a village/outpost/base > you go into a dungeon > loot resources and leave.
I would love if I could make progress even when playing only for 20-40 minutes.
The only no-go for me is if the game is older than like 20 years (i would appreciate newer titles).
Thanks for the help in advance!

Who has things they want to know?
Hello !
I have been playing a lot of Baldur's Gate 3 and love it. It made me fall in love with role-play in games all over again !
However I wanted to know if there are other games out there with a focus on role-playing but where travelling the land is a core principle of progression in a world that has a lighter tone to it.
If I had to pitch a game like that, it would be "JRPG world but CRPG Role-Play" (more or less)
For example if there something out there which is basically "Role-Play Trails in the Sky FC", that's EXACTLY what I want haha !
Bonus points if it's playable on Steam Deck ;D (otherwise I have a PC and PS5)
Thank you for your help ! ^^
Hi guys,
I’ve been brainstorming a medieval MMO that blends strategy, RPG mechanics, and immersive kingdom management. Imagine a game where players take on unique roles within a kingdom, contribute to its growth, and engage in massive battles. The concept combines elements of Total War, Conqueror's Blade, and medieval simulation games. Here’s the detailed idea:
This game is set in a medieval world where players assume specific roles such as warriors, producers, merchants, or even kings. The gameplay is a blend of:
This game offers a rich medieval world where every decision matters. Players build kingdoms, wage wars, and leave their legacy in a living, evolving realm.
What do you think of this concept?
I'm looking for a banger pirate rpg. Back in the day I loved games like Seadogs (and its PotC sequel), Sid Meier's Pirates, but I've not been following much these days and wondering what's some of the best ones out there these days? Nice and open, highly customisable, etc. I'm on Steam Deck. Recommendations very welcome!
I recently watched the anime Bofuri. Which the MC max out her defense stats and become almost invulnerable to damage. Can you guys suggest a game where that stats matters, or I can make a build that I can face tank any enemies.
Rpg games that i currently have but only played a couple of hours.
Elden Ring
Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous
Baldurs Gate 3
Divinity 1 and 2
Skyrim
Oblivion
Grimdawn
Last Epoch
Diablo 2,3, and 4
i suddenly had a urge to play a fun quest game where you have to team up with a wizard, an elf, a bard and a dwarf to save the world from lord peengus or something like that. Also, it has to not be a JRPG, or at least not a stereotypical overdesigned anime style JRPG where everything is an allegory to the climatic change. I just want a fun adventure where I can bond with my party through fun and decently writen dialoge.
Thanks in advance.
Edit: I play on PC only and I'm a total beginner to RPGs. The only Quest type RPGs I've played and enjoyed are Like a Dragon 7 and 8. Also, I'm open to every type of gameplay as far as dialogues and the medieval vibes are remarquable (and that there is a chill, funny and wise wizard as a party member). Thanks in advance, again.
I love dnd and rpg's so much. Have played them all and it's my preferred genre. A few months ago I got an itch to play something a little more complex which is what led me to this really good and complicated game called Achaea.
It's been such an unreal experience as it's considered a MUD game (think that's what it's called) but it fully emerges you in a game completely ran by the players. From cities, to clans, to what they call houses. And it's all through text based communication and world exploration. You create a character, become that character and interact with the world in a totally unique way. It's been so life giving (overwhelming at first, for sure) and meaningful and wanted to put this bug into anyone's ear who is looking for something unique, a bit more mature, and in depth!
Anyone else have experience with this game or another?
I was surfing the web till an idea came to my mind have you ever wanted to create your own rpg enemie to post them online and then engage them in turn based battles? So i asked myself is there a site where i can do this? I know are there programs like RPG Maker where you can create games but it takes programming and I want to battle them with other players too So if you know a site where is at least possible create enemies easily can you tell me any?
I searched a variety of way to see if there was a game but google kept giving me the same games over and over. So I'm hoping for help with games or better way to search on google.
I am looking for a family game that would allow for everyone to sit around and chim in as to the arc of the character, decisions, etc to build the lore of the character as a family. Kinda like a family friendly version of Skyrim just not as hard, meant to be fun and engage conversations and bring fun.
Any help would be appreciated!
Have fun today friends. You get to play games enjoy them! God is Good!
Hi, been wanting to unwind lately, and thinking of picking up a new RPG over the holidays. Historically, I play shooters (largely Call of Duty just for multiplayer gameplay feel), but I'm getting into RPGs lately and wanted to find some I missed or possibly lesser-known ones.
I've also generally preferred sci-fi and modern settings in the past, but I find myself getting into more dark fantasy, Lovecraftian, weird history, etc. genres lately. A small sense of humor and fun in a game is always a plus, without being explicitly comedy (Baldur's Gate, Fallout) -- something that balances mature writing with playfulness. Also, it doesn't have to be a shooter -- I'm starting to enjoy mixed/melee combat, especially when it's agile-focused. The gun+sword combo is dope as hell. I'd love everything about Bloodborne if it wasn't so punishing. I'm medium on difficulty -- I tend to play games on Normal, but will crank it up to hardest on subsequent playthroughs if I fall in love with it. So far, Cyberpunk and doing the Mayhems in Borderlands are the only ones I've done this with.
I'm looking for a focus on fun. I'm kind of at mental burnout, and wanting something that is engaging without being exhausting. Also, maybe something lower-key and a bit under the radar (like a AA tier game), although I'm open to others too.
Ideally, I'm looking for:
What I'm trying to avoid:
Some games I've loved:
Some games I couldn't get into:
Some games that have caught my curiosity:
I know that's a lot of specifics -- if anyone has any recommendations, please let me know! Thank you all for your help!
Hey everyone!
I’ve been having an amazing time with r/playwayfinder Echoes, even after its pivot from a live service model to an offline/optional online co-op RPG. It’s a game that deserves more attention, so I’m here to spread the word and give away a free copy to one lucky redditor!
Not sure if this kind of post is 100% allowed here (I did reach out to the mods but didn’t hear back), but fuck it. I wanted to do this before the holidays, because let’s be real—you can sink a ton of hours into this game, and what better time than the winter break?
A heads-up for new players: The devs recently announced that patch 1.1 will introduce a new difficulty mode with exclusive rewards. However, you’ll need to start a fresh save to access it. So, if you’re into min-maxing, keep that in mind!
The devs do not have any money for marketing and are relying purely on word of mouth and anyone who reviews the game.
Check out the steam page here: https://www.google.com/url?q=https://store.steampowered.com/app/1171690/Wayfinder/&sa=U&sqi=2&ved=2ahUKEwi677P-jOuJAxU5L9AFHdbkHngQFnoECB0QAQ&usg=AOvVaw3CyOw86HwxCHjOwHAeUYRA
If you’re interested in entering, here’s what to do:
1. Upvote this post.
2. Leave a comment sharing why you’d like to play Wayfinder Echoes.
I’ll pick a winner at random 48 hours from now. The giveaway is for a Steam copy of the game only.
Good luck, and happy adventuring!
So just recently I finally finished playing Earthbound and it was amazing but now I'm stumped on what to play next. I'll list what options I have I just need help commiting.
So I actually already have a 50 hour old save file in Persona 5 but as I read multiple books at the same time I need another game in the same genre cuz otherwise I get burnt out. Mostly looking for traditional turn based rpgs.
-I haven't played Chrono Trigger yet
-I have started FF6 and got pretty far into the first half
-I found Golden Sun pretty interesting
-Should I just jump into mother 3?
-I started a save in Bug Fables
-Phantasy Star IV also interests me
-Idk how well known it is but I also own false skies on steam
I'm open to any other suggestions if I can emulate it
Please use this thread to share and discuss which RPGs you have been playing recently (old or new, any platform, AAA or indie). Please don't just list the names of games as your entire post, make sure to elaborate with your thoughts on the games. Writing the names of the games in bold is nice, to make it easier for people skimming the thread to pick out the names.
Please also make sure to use spoiler tags if you're posting anything about a game's plot that might significantly hurt the experience of others that haven't played the game yet (no matter how old or new the game is).
hey guys, am LF a dungeon crawler, preferably cheap 7e-13e or so, turn based, CHALLENGING but without hard puzzles (i really, really suck at puzzles.. like possibly worst at puzzles)
Ive added some interesting looking ones to my wishlist
I really like fully voiced story rich games where you can choose to be a man or women(or if I'm lucky, ganderless.), and the game is actually fully voiced, including with the main character, who talks quite a bit. And because the games have really good voice acting, the voices really do make them feel like different people depending on the gender you choose.
Some examples include Mass Effect 1-3, Fallout 4, and my personal fave of this specific type of game, Cyberpunk 2077. The problem however is that Cyberpunk 2077 came out in 2020, and I don't know about any game that's specifically like this that's come out since.
Has there been anything like this since?
TL;DR Have there been any story rich, fully voiced games where you choose you gender(includinga full voiced MC, who talks quite a bit.) that came out after Cyberpunk 2077? I don't know of any.
The Open World feels active
Has NPC’s with personality/a purpose
Decent Character Progression
Will encourage me to spend dozens and dozens of hours in that world
And most importantly…
(Lie, cheat, steal, kill etc…)
Winter is coming soon and seasonal depression hits like a mother fucker and would love something new sink my teeth into!
Would appreciate any sort of recommendations! I have all consoles/high end gaming PC.
Some of my favorite games are the Mass Effect series, Baldurs Gate, Dragons Dogma, Kingdom Come Deliverance, RDR2
