Long story short, my foursome fell through tomorrow and I'm kind of tired of playing the same course repeatedly. More than anything, I'm looking to play somewhere new that I haven't played before, or somewhere nice that I have played before. Decent golfer, can hold my own. Won't win the club championship, but also won't embarrass myself... or you. Generally in the high 70s to low 80s and usually play one up from the tips depending on the length of the course.
Looking to get a full bag fitting but not exactly sure where I want to go. I’ve heard good things about Continental Golf just don’t know how much it is. Does anyone know how much it is or have recommendations on where to go to get fitted?
Taylormade allowing you to customize putters is pretty sweet
Did anyone here ever play Sourwood Forest Golf Course in Snow Camp, NC (just west of Chapel Hill) while it was open? I'm curious to hear how it was and what it was comparable to in the area.
What I know: 1991 Elmo Cobb design, and closed in 2016. Par 72 and looked like a fairly fun layout.
Context: I drove past the other day and saw holes on the GPS graphic but just an overgrown field. So naturally I researched when I got home. This is one course I've NEVER even heard of so it got me curious!

Claimed!
I have 1 spot available in my tee time at CHCC this Sunday. First group off and usually the early morning pace of play in 3:20ish for a walking foursome.
Let me know if you're interested in joining.
I have a 1st grader who has a slight interest in golf that I need to cultivate!
He liked the GoFish game on the TopTracer at TriGolf. Great experience there!
Would DriveShack or TopGolf be more kid friendly for him? As I write this I’m thinking TopTracer = TopGolf so maybe it has that same game.
I was thinking he’d enjoy hitting it off the top levels for some elevation (who doesn’t).
Anyone have any suggestions for courses that won’t be completely soggy this weekend after all this rain. I don’t mind driving an hour or so away. Give me some suggestions!
Edit: Ended up playing Mill Creek and it was dried out perfectly.
Hey all, looking for recommendations for men's leagues and for a coach (or workshop options).
I'm early 30s, live in the North Hills / Quail Hollow area, and am a 15 handicap. My goal is to become a single digit handicap before next summer, and while I am fit/ athletic enough to do that I also recognize some more consistent lessons are necessary. I also very much want to meet more folks in the triangle.
What are leagues you recommend? What instructors or clinics do you recommend?
Thanks in advance and hit me up if you wanna golf or break out the fly rods.
Kinda new to this GHIN thing but wanted to start playing in some tournaments and get that competitive edge back. Is there a difference between the two? Can someone shed some light on this for me?
CGA membership is $45 Direct GHIN is base $40
What am I missing here? $5 extra gives me access to enter tournaments?
How busy does knights play get for rounds after dark? Never played there and also never played at night and seems like a cool experience. Does it get crowded at night there? How is it when the sun goes down?
Duke is starting its fall rate special on 9/24 and for golfers living in the Triangle after 12PM it is $75 to walk and $100 to ride. Mon-Thurs it’s $105 to walk and $130 to ride on Fri-Sun.
Now that TriGolf has opened up their range, I’ve reached out to the them regarding getting some lessons. It appears that they have four instructors: Pierce Adams, Rick Hengstenberg, Nicholas Stewart, and Dave Hinton. Does anyone have experience with any of these coaches? I have a conventional swing but am seeing inconsistent results (high 80s to high 90s) on the course due to ball striking issues and being a terrible putter.
Hi all,
I’m currently looking into getting fit for new clubs. I’m not really interested in Golftec or Club Champion, as I have heard horror stories about upselling, poor service, long wait times, etc. I have heard great things about Continental, but their website doesn’t give much info.
I live in the Burlington area, but I’m not opposed to a drive for a great experience. Any suggestions on where to go?
Currently live in Raleigh but moving back to my hometown roughly 15 mins away from the Sanford Municipal GC. Played there many times and really enjoy it for the price. Was very much looking forward to playing here frequently once I move and doing their membership deal ($500-600ish?). However, I called today to see if I could book 9 for just myself and learned they do not do individual tee times which was definitely disappointing and has me contemplating that membership.
Guess the point of the post is 1) Are there any other mostly solo golfers who have joined a course that doesn’t allow singles and how did that go for you? And 2) Anyone a member at Sanford GC and wanna make friends with a mid thirties yr old dude who’s a 25 handicap?!? Just getting serious into golf this year and been improving rapidly. Would love to be able to play more frequently.
Have a friend coming to town and he wants to play a few courses while he's here. I don't really golf, but want to rent some clubs to join him. I know you can rent at most courses but are there any places to just rent a set for an extended time?
Buddy of mine booked a round at Southern Pines GC this weekend, trying to read up on it beforehand. I’ve never spent this much on a round of golf so really hoping it doesn’t beat me down bad… any tips?
Is it walking only? If no, is pricing the same for walking or riding? Would you recommend walking it to feel the historic vibes?
Are there caddies? If yes, are they required?
Looking to jump out in a course before 8:30 if anyone has a spot open up. 12.5 handi
Played it this morning. What a phenomenal golf course. Wasn’t overly easy or difficult, just a lot of fun and it great shape. Was a 2 hour drive from Clayton, but definitely worth it. Gave me similar vibes to Beaufort Club, but nicer with better views.
Per thte title, does anyone know if Preserve at Jordan Lake's range is on grass or mats? I tried calling a few times but the call never goes through. Thanks.
Supposed to play Sunday but have heard mixed reports about conditions. Most concerned about greens, that's my picky spot. Any info appreciated.
Haven’t played Crossings in years now. What’s it like these days?
Has anyone been out to Holly Ridge lately? If so, what kind of shape is it in? I know they redid a bunch of stuff over the last couple years, and it's come highly recommended from some local folks.
Played Lonnie Poole for the first time this weekend and was really disappointed with how beat up the greens were. Felt like I was putting at Knights Play (bald/dead spots, inconsistent speed, bumps and pitch marks). Is it normally this bad?
Gorgeous design but I don’t think I’d pay $100+ again for those conditions.
Anyone played it? Initiation & dues?
Have played a few other private courses (Raleigh CC, Brier Creek CC, Prestonwood) but none of the layouts are worth the price IMO. Any other recommendations within 20-25 minutes of N Raleigh?
I don’t expect much, but damn. Front nine is full of weeds and crap on the greens. Back nine has this sand everywhere.
How the hell does one go about getting a Saturday tee time at Lonnie at a reasonable hour. I called first thing 10 days out when it opens and was told the first foursome available was at 4 o’clock.
I have probably a month before I can play. I am changing jobs and would be within 15 minutes of reedy creek. I would likely play 9 holes after work on my half day. I will be starting 3 12’s and ha half day to end. The course looks nice and I have seen the name bounce around this sub. Is it worth it (current price around $37) compared to full 18 price (currently $47). I like value in a course. For only 9 holes, is it really worth it being the price does not really drop that much.
I am a 90-95 score currently but I like good courses. I don’t want the cheapest of the cheap, but is there any other course around Smithfield/clayton where the value per $ for 9 holes is better?
