Is that good or do I need to stop? I’ve got the big tub of powder bovril 90 servings the powder is 10x better than the paste imo
I recently discovered, almost by accident, the recipe for the best hot chocolate I've ever tasted.
It happened while I was reading a YA fantasy book of all things, where the old mentor (who was a wizard) suddenly went on a minor rant about the differences between "mere cocoa" and "real hot chocolate." He dismissed the "ready-sugared powders and syrups" and finished with the words (this is translated from my language); "No -- dark and light chocolate, melted carefully together and mixed with warm whole milk; that's what we serve in this house!"
It seemed easy enough, so I decided to try it out and find out whether or not it really was that much better than the ready-mix.
After a bit of trial, I came up with this slightly more detailed, but still very simple recipe:
For one large cup of hot chocolate, take half a bar of dark chocolate and half a bar of milk chocolate.
Break them into small pieces and melt -- it's quite okay to melt them in the microwave, directly in the cup, as long as you do it carefully. Nuke them in short bursts, not too long at a time, or you'll risk that it tastes burnt.
When the chocolate is melted, you pour in the warm milk. Little by little, stir it in until the cup is almost full.
And that's pretty much it. You can add marshmallows or whipped cream, or a stick of cinnamon if you like, but I prefer it as-is. Delicious, rich, creamy hot chocolate....
Is anyone still kicking around here?
I have been head over feet for loose leaf tea for the last 6 months or so, mostly David's Tea and Steeped Tea --- anyone have suggestions out there? My current fave is Bear Trap by David's Tea, and Lemon-Ginger Tea-tox from Steeped Tea.
I have just started a loose tea kick and am LOVING Just Peachy as well as Magic Dragon from David's Tea. Really big into the fruity teas right now, does any one have any suggestions? Also, I need to invest in another infuser...any ideas out there, I have a clamp sort of one and a cook leaf one that was gifted on here forever ago I think :D
Hope everyone is well!
Hello lovelies! I'm new here, but I'm super excited to start chatting it up with fellow sippers! I am a tea and hot cocoa lover. Ask me anything!
I'm going to be paying for this later...
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, so I will be playing Musical Santa today. My fellow mods know nothing about this as I have kept it under my cap. So we will be playing games!
Game 1: I have hidden a drink related item on one of my wishlists. What is it? and Where did I hide it?
Game 2: Who here has cheap items on their wishlists? What do you say about having a White Elephant/SS exchange?
The winner of game 1 will get something random from their list.
We all love the warmest of the drinks, hot chocolate, but it's not a meal in the eyes of government and Gods. If we get enough petition signers then the lobby of Big Meal will have no chance but to make us the kings of mealtime and chocolate.
I've been a member of RAOA for quite some time (use to be /u/nodescript on there), and I found this one through a friend on there. I don't think I ever posted an intro on that user name either, so I'll do it on this one.
I'm a big fan of drinking tea, and have been drinking it since I was a small kid. I've since made tea a huge part of my diet, and I'm always looking to try new kinds. I'm not really sure what to say about myself here, so I'll just go basic: I'm 29, almost 30, my name is Scott (I'm a guy), and I am married. Other than that, if there's anything else, please feel free to ask :-)
Hi, all! Herbal tea/Cocoa enthusiast here! I'm rediscovering my love of warm drinks slowly, due to the fact that we keep moving to houses with gas stoves and I have an irrational fear of using a gas flame. The microwave is my friend, until I get an electric kettle.
What a cozy little corner. Just my type of space. I'm a 24/F living in Seattle with my fiance. My favorite place in the city is in front of our fireplace with him, a warm blanket, a hot drink, and a good book. I tend to drink more tea than coffee, and I look for florals, fruits, herbs, or desserts. I tend not to like black teas, with the exception of chais turned latte (my go to warm coffee shop drink).
Holy wow! I was just navigating around through the "random acts of..." subreddits and stumbled upon this one from polish gauntlet. HOLY WOW! I am so excited to have found you guys!
I LOVE hot tea and cozy hot chocolate! I've just recently started a (currently very) small mug collection endeavor, too. I'm really looking forward to seeing all the cool stuff you lovely people will be putting up =3 Cheers!
Mods....I don't know if this is allowed so if not I'm sorry!
So....the weather is starting to turn cooler up here in Canada and it's making me think that we need a little warm drink action! I'm thinking either a card with tea samplings between 'signer-uppers' and/or a send a box of tea or a package of coffee like a randomly sorted exchange....what does everyone think? Would anyone be interested? Just thinking of ways to spice it up in here a little :) <3
Hope you're all well!
Edit: I'm going to message the mods and see if they have a preference as to how we organize this...any one with ideas let me know :D
I've been pretty absent from reddit for a good while but want to get more active so am checking in in some of my favourite places and wanted to say HI!!! How are you? How's life? What's new? Hope everyone is well!
I'm not very good about talking about myself. I do however love warm drinks....especially tea, warm apple cider, and hot chocolate! Coffee....meh...I can do without lol. Feel free to ama!
I have a serious addiction to tea and coffee. I drink tea every-night before bed and my fiance thinks it is just weird to have that as somewhat of a "ritual" as he calls it. My favorite tea is (almost any kind) of peppermint or spearmint along with chai. I am so excited to host a few contests as I have so many teas and mugs I don't know what to do with them!! :)
I can't post a pic cause I drank 2 already! The Cinnamon Hybiscus was AH-MAZING! You are so awesome :D Thank you so much :D
Hi! I have two different kinds of Loose Red Roobios Teas. It's just too much, I don't need all of it and I would really like to share with you instead of the garbage. Realistically, I would love to trade because I am always interested in trying something new!
Dumb Rules: I will only ship within the USA and you would have to be okay with PM'ing me your mailing address.
Other than that I think we are good to go! Please let me know if you have any questions. Hope this works!
