Memes about US Presidential Races
Open every four years.
Rules:
1) 𝑴𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒔 must make an effort at humor
Webster's Dictionary defines "meme" an image or video that's been creatively edited for laffs. Unedited screencaps of text tweets, Onion articles, or political cartoons are not memes. Exceptions made for occasional [CONTEXT] posts: unedited newsworthy media that can act as fodder for new memes.
2) Memes must 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒂𝒏 𝒆𝒇𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒕 at humor
Memes should be decent-looking, clever, and show some creativity (including the title). No sloppy editing. No watermarks. No 𝗜𝗠𝗣𝗔𝗖𝗧 font. No reposts. Report reposts with a link to the original for better odds of removal.
3) Memes must make an effort at 𝒉𝒖𝒎𝒐𝒓
Memes should be funny first and foremost. Not angry, preachy, or insulting. No unironic #hashtags. If your meme is mainly promoting or advocating or WAKING PEOPLE UP, ur doing it rong. NSFW content is fine, but no uncensored porn/violence.
4) No personal attacks
It's politics -- folks are gonna argue! Just do it respectfully. Hostility and vulgar insults are subject to removal with a warning, while repeat offenders may be banned. Memes should not target individual users. No racism/misogyny/*phobia/other bigotry. For harassing PMs, block the user or report to the admins for serious threats.
5) No brigading or disinformation
Do not link to specific posts or users directing others to vote. Do not link to stuff here from elsewhere doing so, either. If you suspect brigading, report evidence to the mods. Unsubstantiated claims cannot be acted on. Activity on other subreddits is not brigading. Disagreeing with you is not brigading. Accusations in the comments are subject to removal. Blatantly misleading posts will be tagged and debunking info stickied if provided.
6) Submissions must relate to a presidential election
This can be any election from throughout U.S. history. It cannot be a gubernatorial, senatorial, or other election unless that election involved a future president and is presented in context of their presidency or their election. The 2024 election is ramping up, but we encourage users to branch out.

#What's going on?
For over 15 years, Reddit has provided a powerful API (automated data access system) that has been the foundation for countless tools and platforms developed by and for the community, from your favorite bots to critical spam detection and moderation tools to popular third-party browsers that provide a superior user experience on a wide variety of devices. Such tools were critical in recovering this subreddit from manipulation and mass permabans, powering community events from 2020, and shutting down bot campaigns.
Just recently, however, Reddit has announced a number of deeply unpopular changes to this API that will have some extremely damaging effects on this open ecosystem:
They've cut off access to Pushshift, which has long provided a powerful sitewide search and data for academics and security experts
They're greatly increasing the price of API access, far beyond comparable services like Imgur, such that third-party browsers like Apollo, Narwhal, and Bacon Reader will be driven into bankruptcy
Additionally, they're denying third-party browsers both ad revenue and all access to NSFW content
Note that the official Reddit app is woefully behind in terms of accessibility compared to third-party apps, meaning blind users will be effectively excluded from participation on mobile
New rate limits and restrictions will make it significantly harder to police spammers, repost bots, and abusive and dangerous accounts (like porn bots spamming SFW subs or pervs browsing /r/teenagers)
Worse, if these changes go through, they will be laying the groundwork for further closure of Reddit's open platform -- think the end of Old Reddit, shutdown of RSS feeds, or permanent breakage of critical tools like Mod Toolbox or Reddit Enhancement Suite. A world where you interact with Reddit through their bloated, ad-ridden, data-tracking official app, or not at all. And all to increase the value of Reddit's upcoming IPO.
#What are we doing about it?
We're standing with the developers and users affected by this greedy and shortsighted decision, hardworking people who have contributed more to Reddit's growth than just about anybody else. To this end, we will be shutting the subreddit down on June 12th until the following goals are addressed:
Lower the price of API calls to a level that's affordable to third-party developers.
Communicate on a more open and timely basis about changes to Reddit which will affect large numbers of moderators and users.
To allow mods to continue keeping Reddit safe for all users, NSFW data must remain available through the API.
