Step son has prairie dogs and this little girl was half the size a week ago, we have yet to deal with a potentially pregnant pdog, what should we look for in case she is?
And for the more experienced parents, does this belly look full of potential babies?
I have been seeing a lot of videos recently about prairie dogs I have tried to research them about having them as pets but there is not a lot of information about owning them as pets. I want to own one but I would like to know more about prairie dogs first. I would like to know how to bond and tame them and what the enclosures/cage should look like and what is the best way to get a prairie dog in PA.
Me and my family have been thinking about adopting a Prarie Dog. We live in Royal Oak, MI, and we have been trying to find places to adopt Prarie Dogs.
We also need information on the legality of owning Prarie Dogs. Just need some clarification. If anybody has any information, maybe a wildlife expert of some sort, please let me know!
Basically my Praerie Dog Boyking has problems with hair it seems.
At first I noticed it around his neckside, where seemingly 2 parts have almost been ripped off. I can't explain it to myself other than someone has attacked my boy when I wasn't home.
However, he's also starting to lose hair on his head now, although more slowly and less radical when the round-side neck area completely disappeared.
I have been making sure that nobody can at any point touch him to protect him, but also to make sure that I'm not paranoid. Is this a known issue, maybe related to stress?
He very much requires my person being there I feel like, even short - aways are weird for him and he let's me know in some kind of ignore-for-hours fashion, maybe I read too much into it, it's just my feeling.
Any of you guys, with praerie dogs, please don't commend if you don't own a praerie and saw a Youtube Video somewhere I'm not interested.
Thanks a lot guys.
I was wondering if s and s exotics is good to buy a prairie dog from? I haven’t heard anything bad or good about them since I haven’t found info.
Hey everyone! I just wanted to know if it’s okay to have my pup in the same room as me? Like all the time till she is even older? I’ve had other pets I slept with in the same room together one was even a chinchilla and I had no problems. But I never really thought if it was safe for me like air quality wise or bacteria? I’m looking into getting an air purifier but even if I got one would it be beneficial? I mostly want to know if it’s safe to stay in the same room as her.

My mom's friend took care of my prairie dog during out vacation and these mashed potatoe brained mfs lost em, we live in southwest Florida in a more rural part of town. Any tips? Once I get back I'm definitely searching the area for bro
I just got my 2 prairie dogs as a surprise gift from my wife. I called them Beto and Enrique (Spanish names for Sesame's Street's Bert and Ernie) They are the most adorable things in the world. I am really inexperienced and would like some guidance:
How to bond? They are really scared of us (Wife and I) and keep hiding in a corner of their cage. I've been taking them out of their cage daily at least 30 - 60 mins so they get used to our presence. I don't know if that is enough or not.
How to train them? I want to train them the basics: bathroom, their names, and socialize. For the bathroom training I was planning to use something else than chip (?) ("viruta" in spanish, but I truly don't know how to say it in english sorry) so they "live" in the chip (?) and do their business in the other thing.
I have a Doberman that is not that good with socializing. How do you recommend I handle the presentations?
Any Amazon Wish List sugestions?
Anything else you could think about as a suggestion is welcome.
Thank you all for reading me and for your time. <3
Sorry if my english is not perfect, but is not my first language.
She doesn't have a name yet so if you guys have any ideas 🤗
I live in East Tennessee and my wife is desperate to meet a prairie dog. Where is that possible? Willing to travel.
I’m sorry if I seem pushy or impatient but I really need help finding more prairie dogs. I know we are running out of the time to get them. Please and thank you
Dose anyone have tips on how to make my pup to start drinking her water bottle. I got a smaller metal straw for it so she isn’t scared and would put sweet potatoes baby food at the end just a little bit and she will just lick it off and then just walk away. Should I syringe feed her water?
Hello, I recently made a post talking about my prairie dog that recently passed away. It has been hard but we are getting through it. A lot of people recommended we get new prairie dogs, so the other one (cuddle) isn’t sad and lonely. I’ve talked with my family and we have decided that that would not be a bad idea. One problem, we don’t know where to buy from. We live in Florida and everything out of state that we’ve looked at either doesn’t ship, or is crazy expensive to ship. Does anyone know anywhere in Florida that has pups? Preferably 2? Or anywhere that ships for a reasonable price? Please let me know, we are running out of time due to the time of year so please let me know. Thank you so much
Dose anyone know why they sound like they grind their teeth? Like fake chewing almost, is she okay? Also update= she is doing a lot better she is drinking and eating now and moving like she always is, I will still bring her in Monday to see how she is and maybe what she had.
It’s only the 4th day of owning walter( it’s a girl) she has been sneezing since we first got her it was only a little bit and light so I thought nothing of it. Now it’s the 4th day and she stopped eating her milk and just wants to burrow and sleep and puked once and is having diarrhea. I’m literally heart broken all the vets that can take her are closed we have to wait till tomorrow morning. I feel as I did something wrong but I know she’s just sick I’m assuming. If anyone can give Tips how I can hold her over with her milk so she’s isn’t dehydrated I would appreciate it, thank you.
So I made a post about my prairie dog the other day. Unfortunately, she passed in her sleep yesterday. I just need help with making sure her brother doesn’t get lonely. My parents go to work and my sister and I go to school. Which means that he will be all by himself all day long in silence. I don’t want him to get depressed or lonely. What can I do?
HELP?! It’s day 2 of owning my pup and it’s a girl at first she was scared and didn’t wanna be held when I had to feed her so she bit me so I’ve been wearing sock hands from there on lol. But it’s day 2 and she’s not scared of me she’s more curious she runs towards me climbs all over me and I don’t have to wear sock hands BUT she constantly tries to bite me and not just me, it’s like nibbling but if u don’t move your fingers away she bites down hard and you can bleed. I’m just kind of confused on why she is doing so? Is she mad? Scared? Or is she just hungry 247 and biting is her telling us she is hungry?
I have a 11 year old dog named Chubbs. About 4-5 years ago she got worms really bad. She beat them and survived, and got her appetite back, but never really put the weight back on. We sit here today and for the last 3 weeks she has really lost her back legs. She’s tiny, eats very slow, and this morning she had diarrhea. I’ve been giving her critical care for the last month probably, but to no success. Today’s the worst I’ve seen her. Is it time to put her down? I really don’t want to lose her.
