If Catherine had become a Hero like Scribe suspected she might, what would have been her Name.

At the start Black told Cat that Scribe saw her as a potential Hero to watch and eliminate.

We all know what she became, but what would have been her Good Name?

In her Name dreams, her Good twin wears Priest clothes.

Even at the start she is a competent brawler, decent schemer and has solid self awareness.

Maybe Squire just the same, but i was looking for a Priest brawler Name and struggled to find a fitting one.

You got any ideas?

Does anyone know how much will the webtoon adapt?

I just thought about it and wanted to know if there'll be seasons or something.

Just finished the first book

I'm liking it so far. Since I'm reading the web novel, there are major grammatical issues and readability things (no newlines after dialogue, dropped words, dropped commas, etc.), but I can live with that. This ain't my first rodeo reading a webnovel (although still the worst offender, considering the others I've read are Re:Zero, Lord of the Mysteries, and Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint). I'm also reading the webtoon as it comes out, but I'm far ahead of it already. There are a few differences, such as the governor's name, and those differences are why I'm following both, since I've heard it's more cannon.

Am I the only one who did not know the Here we go Again song was based on a real song"

Ha, I thought the tune was just made for the story all this time, and then I came across this today.

Here It Goes Again Song by OK Go

Source: LyricFind

Songwriters: Damian KulashHere It Goes Again

lyrics © BMG Rights Management

It could be ten, but then again
I can't remember half an hour since a quarter to four
Throw on your clothes, the second side of Surfer Rosa
And you leave me with my jaw on the floor

Just when you think (think) you're in control
Just when you think (think) you've got a hold
Just when you get on a roll
Here it goes, here it goes, here it goes again
Oh, here it goes again
I should have known, should have known, should have known again
But here it goes again
Oh, here it goes again

It starts out easy, something simple, something sleazy
Something inching past the edge of reserve
Now through the lines of the cheap venetian blinds
Your car is pulling off of the curb

Just when you think you're in control
Just when you think you've got a hold
Just when you get on a roll
Oh, here it goes, here it goes, here it goes again
Oh, here it goes again
I should have known, should have known, should have known again
But here it goes again
Oh, here it goes
Oh, here it goes
Oh, here it goes again
Oh, here it goes again

I guess there's gotta be a break in the monotony
But Jesus, when it rains, how it pours
Throw on your clothes, the second side of Surfer Rosa
And you leave me, yeah, you leave me

Oh, here it goes, here it goes, here it goes again
Oh, here it goes again
I should have known, should have known, should have known again
But here it goes again
Oh, here it goes
Oh, here it goes
Oh, here it goes again
I should have known
I should have known
But here it goes again
Oh here it, oh here it, oh here it, oh here it
Oh, here it goes again
I should have, I should have, I should have, I should have
I should have known
I should have known
Oh, here it goes again
Oh, here it goes again

Which kind of video game do you think the guide would work best as?

In my personal opinion I think it would make an excellent Total War game. With all the different regions and rulers, the Ebb and Flow of the world i think would be amazing. The details of the different races as well as heros and villians would be a neat mechanic if a morality system was invoked, but I would love to hear different opinions and how things would work in your games.

Regarding My Playlist for A Practical Guide To Evil

Hello all. Jude here. As some of you may know, I have a playlist for the Guide that at least twenty-seven of you have saved on Spotify. I just wanted to let you know that I have changed one of the songs I designated for book four, "That's What You Get" by Paramore, with "Heavy Is The Crown" by Emily Armstrong and Mike Shinoda (the Arcane version of the song).

The scene this song represents is the first use of the Deluge. Below is a Spotify link to the playlist for those interested.

Confession

I am a serial re-reader.

I finished the web version at least four times, read the Yonder book, and have now started the webcomic. I could have started and finished multiple other series instead of re-reading PGTE.

This series still makes me giddy with excitement with each page.

Who started the fae invasion?

New reader here, currently in the middle of book 3. I tried to search this reddit for answers, but didn't find anything...

When Winter invades Marchford, the Rider fae tells Cat "Summer is at war in Creation, so Winter must do the same". Then, when she captures princess Sulia, she says "Winter was at war in Creation, so Summer had to do the same".

Aren't both supposed to say the truth? Did I miss something? Who started it then?

Did the Winter king start hostilities for his gambit of manipulate Cat into helping him? If so, how did the Rider lie to Cat, when he was supposed to be compelled to answer by the narrative of Cat playing the hero and getting the villain to monologue?

EDIT : Thanks for all the answers ! I see there's no "official" word for this one, maybe it could be an oversight... But everyone here sure got me a lot of food for thought, that's some interesting rabbit hole I just went through !

Is there a spoiler free guide (no pun intended) to all the nations and factions in APGTE?

I've just finished book two of APGTE so no spoilers beyond that please!

I'm loving the book so far but I can't for the life of me keep track of who is who or what nation is what. Is there a spoiler free guide I can read or reference that will help me wrap my head around the continent and people's motivations?

Question bout end of book 5 and our favorite bad guy

Kairos going out with a bang. I still don’t fully understand all of the pieces of it.

He caught up the choir of justice with everyone’s favorite For the people By the people and proved that they’re not unstoppable and hampered them for quite a long time as beaurocracy can stop even angels. Love it. As I understand, taking out judgement neuters the Bards plan of using the doomsday angel device that the first prince has so it fucks up her plan, but also saves Calernia from some horrible angel device, and also entices the Dead King to stop pussyfooting and attack aka make himself vulnerable. Right?

But why did Kairos lie and call down the choir of mercy to kill himself?

Why did he also try and have all leadership present to have them all smited - was it truly because he’s a chaotic goofball that wanted to light everything on fire?

Web Novel Names

In honor of the recent announcement I thought it would be fun to do something we haven’t done in a while: Giving names to characters from other franchises. Due to us finally getting a physical version I thought we’d focus on other webnoveles.

Elaine from ‘Beneath the Dragoneye moons’ is an easy one. She starts of as Dawn and transitions to Elaine after her time in the Fae. As for aspects I’m thinking something like Heal, Vow, and Learn.

Tala from ‘Millennial Mage’ is a little harder. Maybe something like Escaped Eskau, or Hope of Humanity.

What's new in the Yonder version (unofficial)

This is a quick summary of the more interesting differences between the Wordpress original and the updated version seen on Yonder. The upcoming Mango edit is based on the latter, but probably contains even more changes.

• A few of Black's early dialogues are altered; he speaks more like he does in the rest of the story
• Black has the title of Governor-General, formalizing his authority over city governors
• Scribe and Captain are much more present throughout, as is Beast (who Catherine never sees in Wordpress iirc)
• More explaration of Callowan culture, including an explicit connection to swords in stones
• New Callowan villain, the Baron
• New Peren Woods arc after Laure; Catherine follows Black and co. as they pursue the stolen tax convoy
• Book 1 ends after Akua confrontation on the Blessed Isle
• Epilogue 1: Swordsman POV as he follows Hunter to Refuge, encountering Bumbling Conjurer and Thief along the way
• War College expanded into a proper Ater arc, incorporating elements from the Conspiracy extra chapter
• Praes worldbuilding starts much earlier; jino-waza is introduced basically right away
• Mentions of a few new Praesi names including Alchemist, Necromancer, Summoner
• Penthes is now a major naval power on the tip of a penninsula
• Epilogue 2: Amadeus POV as he meets with Malicia; Catherine and the newly-raised Fifteenth are sent to investigate undead raiders in the Empty Sea, while Black races the Grey Pilgrim to get ahead of a succession dispute in Penthes

There are a few name changes for existing people, concepts, and places.

• Mazus > Kojo Agrinya
• House of Light > Vestry
• Truebloods > Lords Credent
• Soninke > Sanke
• Mthethwa > Ecane
• Taghrebi (language) > Maniram
• Nok > Sose
• Aksum > Obon
• Foramen > Rana
• Hungering Sands > Empty Sea
• Ankou > Harrow
• Harrow > Harlane
• Denier > Ashenton

A couple name changes are so small that I can't be sure they're not typos, with how shoddy Yonder's copy editing was. In particular, the Lone Swordsman thinks of himself during as "William Greenbury" rather than "William of Greenbury". This could be part of a larger change in how lowborn characters without a trade or noble name are referred to, but Epilogue 2 talks about "Tarif Isibili" and "Alaya of Status", which, what? How did they fuck up proper nouns?

A smaller thing is there's one point where Amadeus' personal bodyguard is called the "Blackcloaks", which is the kind of goof a person only makes if he's crunching to get a Pale Lights chapter out while an incoming child is imminent. Still should have been caught by Yonder's editor, though.

EDIT: some more stuff I didn't put in the OP originally.

• Black has a home base in central Callow, a settlement for scribes, legionaries, and Blackguards. It's formally called Lectern but most commonly known as Gravemouth
• Mention of the most literal concrete improvement made by the Prasei, a system of roads and highways across Callow. The one from Laure to Liesse is informally called Black's Pecker
• The Proceran civil war that ended in the coronation of First Prince Cordelia Hasenbach is specifically called the Long War
• Earlier Procer worldbuilding, including mentions of their previous invasions of Callow and the Circle of Thorns
• Kilian's backstory is slightly changed. Her grandmother was an experiment from Obon (neé Aksum). a human injected with drake blood

PGTE is getting ebook and paperback versions done by Mango Media

For those of you who aren't on the Guide's Discord, u/Selkie_Love announced that Mango Media will be publishing PGTE in ebook and paperback form. Here's the announcement:

The Empire Webtoon stands triumphant. For twenty years the Dread Empress Yonder has ruled over the lands that were once the Kingdom of Callow Wordpress, but behind the scenes of this dawning golden age threats to the crown Bottom line are rising. The nobles whales of the Wasteland internet, denied the power content they crave, weave their plots behind pleasant smiles spent their money somewhere else. In the north discord the Forever King superfans eyes the ever-expanding borders of the Empire Yonder and ponders war loudly protests the price. The greatest danger lies to the west the comic, where the First Prince of Procer new readers has finally claimed her throne: her people sundered started to read Guide and get introduced to the world, she wonders if a crusade might not be the way to secure her reign. there's a good place to read the updated version Yet none of this matters, for in the heart of the conquered lands the most dangerous man alive agent sat across an orphan girl Mango Media and offered her a knife contract. Her name is Catherine Foundling Selkie Myth, and she has a plan.

===

You've all been asking and wondering, and we can finally give you an answer! Mango Media is proud to announce that we'll be doing the ebook and paperback version of A Practical Guide to Evil! It took a while to get the contract all hammered out, but it's finally done and we can finally announce it! It's going to be the "Yonder" version of Guide, with EE working with our dev and line editors to rewrite all 15 books. We'll be coordinating with Dreamscape for the audiobooks, and I hope to work with all of you on getting some of the fine details just right.

Concept Art Cover for A Practical Guide to Evil

The Book of Some Things and the Sword of the Rest. I'm not fully satisfied with this, and I might attempt a black and white scale (Only To The Just version), but it's what came into mind when I was making this, as well as being much easier to do. Nothing much to say here, really. A story about the stories of Good and Evil, the Guide is. (On a side note, I notice that I've sometimes been speaking a bit like Yoda, and I don't like it.) But even then, Good is never just good and Evil is not just evil. The Sword is white though it is of Below's and the Book is black though it is of Above's. Yin and Yang, etc etc. But in reality it's because I can't put a black thing on a black background and vice versa with white.

Concept Art Cover for Book 7 of A Practical Guide to Evil

Very basic, but I think it's fitting. If I remember correctly, the first title idea for the Guide was Black and White. I wanted to attempt to capture the feeling of everything on the continent being on the balance of win or lose against the DK. And I think the starkness of this helps with that.

The next one tomorrow will be my attempt at an overall cover for the Guide, and the day after, I will be posting a compilation of these photos. Input appreciated, as usual.

Concept Art Cover for Book 6 of A Practical Guide to Evil

It's obvious and doesn't need to be explained, I think. ShineFall. Purple and Keter's heraldry because it's the book that has the most focus on the war against the Dead King. Truce and Terms for the title because it's a major part of the war and it's the catchiest thing I could think of from book six.
