/r/Pourpainting has gone private in protest of Reddit's attack on 3rd Party developers and not-for-profit API users. We recommend contacting Reddit administrators to let them know you do not support their corporate hostility, and demand they reverse their stance. Search "Reddit API" in your browser of choice to find more context.
Posts must be directly related to pour painting and other fluid arts.
Images of things "inspired by" or "reminiscent of" pour painting will be removed.
Digital posts will be removed, unless they contain the original, unedited version of your painting displayed as the first image in the post. Digital alterations, like level balances, photoshopped additions, staging backdrops, etc. can be fun to see, but this subreddit is dedicated to the physical medium, not digital.
Art must be some form of fluid/poured medium, like acrylic pours, alcohol inks, resin pours, etc. Non-related abstract art, oil painting, brush-painted pieces, etc. will be removed.
Artists are allowed and encouraged to share links to their work outside of Reddit, like youtube, etsy, instagram, etc.
NFT/Crypto is not allowed, not as a main post and not as a comment, whether or not the content features pour painting.
If the author of any post wants criticism and critique, they'll ask for it.
Paintings with NSFW themes are allowed, when properly flaired. NSFW content outside of the painting itself is not allowed.
Posting Other Artist's Work
ONLY if you link to their website/profile.
Posting sourceless art will result in a warning, then a ban. Taking credit for another artist's work will result in an immediate ban.
If you can't find a source, link the art inside a self-post and ask.
Selling Your Art
OK to post one (1) direct link to purchase new art per day. Don't spam!
Reddit has no buyer/seller protection, so sell through etsy, ebay, paypal with seller receipts, etc.
Reddiquette
When posting multiple paintings, site-wide guidelines suggest you should present multiple images in a single post (or Imgur album), rather than submitting multiple posts to the subreddit in a row.
If you want to share additional photos or videos of the same painting, please wait at least one day to submit a new post.
Moderators may remove back-to-back posts if the submission rate is excessive, in order to maintain a fair community standard for all users.
User Flair
Edit user flair underneath the 'subscribe' button.
Choose the social media/store you can be found on, and enter your username so others can look up more of your work! Message the mods if your platform of choice isn't an available flair.
If you want to use the 'Discussion' flair, be sure to start a discussion in the comments immediately after posting. The flair means you are starting a discussion and are ready to participate with other redditors. If you want critique on your piece, use 'Critique' instead of 'Discussion'.

Made this set of space themed pieces for a 9 year old boy’s birthday. Left to right: Cosmos, Luna, Sol, & Terra.
I have a piece that I created with the intent of it being a centerpiece lantern in a large art piece, and it was successful. They took it and pulled the print, put it into the center lantern and back lit it. Now, I am trying to finish off the piece so that I can resin it and give it as a gift to the person behind the piece that I was blessed to be a part of. There is a lot of open space, as you can see. I don't want to fill in all the space, because I feel that the void is important. Thoughts? I am going to add a quote thay speaks to me along the waves, and I am working on filling in spaces with smudged metallica Metallic of different colors as accents. The last think i want to do is go too far/ruin it. Thoughts/ideas????? Any help / I'm dead would br appreciated. What do i do eith the void? Do I leave it and thn just resin it with the ashes in it (whenb i add then)
One of my first pours came out okay I think.
Please comment on why this might happen. I’ve used the same pour medium as other paintings but this time on a gessoed wood panel. Maybe the addition of water to thin the black paint. Or the wood underneath gesso is breathing somehow?
I need to do a beach scene painting for my son. And i'm already intimidated by the size of the canvas he selected! PLUS.... He wants to go over the entertainment center in the living room...kinda high profile! Lol..no pressure, tho. NOPE! None at ALL! 🤭
So here's the first of what i'm sure will be many questions... i just watched a video by one of the experts on youtube... She used something to create height on the shoreline. Then did a lot of sanding. I've watched it and rewatched it and can't determine what product she used for that! I've never used a resin, so I can't go there on a project this big. But it did look super cool having the immediate edge of the sea foam elevated! Any suggestions, fellow artists?
I’m going through a hard time in my life, I haven’t touched art since I was a teenager. Now at 34 and very isolated in life it’s the only way I feel I can express my feelings. I’ve been enjoying experimenting with different techniques. Pouring has been one I really enjoy. I just started painting again about two weeks ago and it’s been healing.
