[DEVELOPMENT] When the Trees Sing of Summer, But the Weather Is of Fall

"A lot of our votes have been 13-2 recently."

"Yes, that is quite concerning."

"The American Chief made some good points in the last meeting. I could see the lesser tribes were considering breaking tradition, joining the pale-skins in the vote."

"That would be unfortunate, but we would still win."

"In the chambers, sure. But what about the court of public opinion? If one of them decides to pierce the veil we could have serious problems."

"As long as we are making progress in the war and the economy is doing well then nothing will come of the discontent. People do not want a return to the famine and lawlessness we rescued them from."

"There are other options than famine and lawlessness. If Carter had been more successful he could have served as a model. Still could to the desperate, or the greedy."

"It is not a concern. The pale-skins that are too unhappy leave. They go to Texas, or the New Union. We do not stop them. Why should they rise in rebellion when it is easier to just leave? When we will pay them to go? No, there is no chance of rebellion."

"I think you are wrong great elder. If the war turns south or the US does truly invade I think we will find ourselves like our ancestors... bound for a new frontier."

"Only time will tell."

[MOBILIZATION] The Perfidy of Nations

We are not surprised by the DC-government's decision to declare us in abeyance of our treaties. The interpretation of those treaties was always one sided and perfunctory. We are not surprised by the DC-government's decision to ignore our collective interests in favor of selfish desires. The presence of "Native" desires has always been considered a rumor to those of pale skin and "good" breeding. We are not surprised by the DC-government's decision to force a conflict where one need not exist; in an environment where the security concerns of both could be addressed without severely compromising the interests of the other. Our security was never seen as a real consideration as long as it enabled us to be anything but a puppet regime.

We will be surprised if the DC-regime exhibits the resolve necessary to see any future conflict between our nations to a favorable end. We will be surprised if the DC-government handles war consistent with humanitarian concerns. We will be surprised if the DC-government changes its strategy to allow a unified country to exist rather than a collection of violent ideologies grasping at a vacuum. We will be surprised if the great nation of Canada does anything to contain the brutality, repression, and subjugation of the will of the people by their "ally."

We war to safeguard the minority, the slave, the poor and illiterate, and to preserve the values of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. From former military governments to slaveholders to pirate lords to special petroleum interests the DC-government embodies little of what America once stood for. The only thing that stayed after the fall is the disregard for its minority citizens and a violent reaction to them gaining any power. We are not surprised.

[MOBILIZATION] Char de combat Champlain

The Char de combat Champlain or "Champlain Tank" developed by the Manège militaire et usine automobile de Chicoutimi has taken the Armed Police Branch of the S.Q. by storm, with the modern tank based on both British and German tanks of the Second World War seems to be a promising addition to its arsenal. The start of production of the tank in the Chichoutimi factory is set to be finished in 1965 with the fresh tanks being sent off to reinforce the armoured batallion of the S.Q.

[NEWS] New Democratic Party Emerges

Reflecting the changing attitudes within Ontario and Federal politics, the vast majority of the Cooperative Commonwealth Federation under Donald MacDonald has today officially merged with the left wing of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario to form a New Democratic Party. MacDonald stated to a packed newsroom: "We have founded the New Democratic Party alongside these former Tories to better represent the attitudes of the Ontarian people on the federal stage and in the Legislative Assembly. With the PC party on the national level in disarray after discontent with John Robarts' Ontario-leaning policies, we thought it wise to reach out to those most sympathetic to our goals of improving life for Canadians everywhere through increased governmental assistance."

In a surprising move, Old Man Ontario himself - Leslie Frost, former leader of the Progressive Conservative Party in Ontario - is one of those who has joined the New Democratic Party. He and most of the Red Tories, as they have come to be known, will ensure a strong footing for the NDP in the Legislative Assembly and will guide the party as a whole toward civil libertarianism - but in the wake of their departure, the Liberal Party of Ontario has merged with the right-wing remnants of the PCs to form a new Conservative Party, which has affiliated itself with the Maritimer Canadian Redemption Party - itself comprised of the Blue Tory remnants of the shattered PCs.

On the federal stage, the New Democratic Party wishes to pursue the following platform:

  • Greater acceptance of French Canadians
  • Reducing separatism within Canada and curtailing the authoritarian tendencies of certain provinces
  • Technological advancement and improvement of educational and healthcare services
  • Establishment of a unified Federal military command, with provinces still responsible for the upkeep of their own militaries
  • A peaceful resolution to the Cascadian crisis
  • Reunification with the former provinces of Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan
  • Further protections for workers' rights
  • Establishment of a single Canadian dollar
  • Improved compensation for resource production by provinces that is transferred to other provinces

Naturally, the largely CCF-driven NDP agenda meshes heavily with the NCC on the national stage, with a few key differences. Donald MacDonald continues to lead the party on the provincial stage, with a new face leading the party on the federal stage. Harry Simpson has been a rising star in the party for some time, elected during the first Federal election cycle and making a name for himself in several debates, including the adoption of the Federal version of the Springhill Act and the Popular Education Act. He is solidly in the reformist camp, as is MacDonald, and hopes to form a strong coalition to resist the growing tendencies toward conservatism and authoritarianism on the national stage.

[EVENT] Rolling S-tock

Long heavily dependent on imports to sustain its industrial might, the procurement of additional rolling stock for Ohio and Michigan is essential for bolstering the regional transportation infrastructure, enhancing connectivity, and promoting economic growth. Expanding the fleet of trains will address the increasing demand for capacity especially on transcontinental routes that have became increasingly more important for the Great Lakes' economy. The procurement of rolling stock for Ohio and Michigan would typically follow a structured and competitive process between design bureaus and individual train manufactories to produce a single design that would be mass produced.

The winner of the competitive process would be the Design 019 by Toledo No.291 Locomotive Factory, a four-axle, 2000hp diesel-electric design.

[MOBILIZATION] Heavy Anti-Air

With the development of increasingly heavy models of combat airships, the need for mobile anti-air for our land forces becomes increasingly pressing. As such, Heavy AA Batteries are to become staples of divisional artillery, with the 120mm Gun M1 as its core. The 120 mm Gun M1 represents a pivotal advancement in artillery technology, offering the Red Army unmatched firepower, precision, and reliability crucial for modern warfare. Its superior range and accuracy enable effective engagement of targets at extended distances, enhancing the Red Army's capability to neutralize threats while minimizing risks to personnel.

[NEWS] The National Canadian Coalition and the 1964 Campaign

With the political landscape of Canada, and the CFP as a whole shifting, efforts have been made by the Canada First Party to rally and unify the political outliers from various parties in the south under a united Coalition. With an underlying aim to combat the growing French Canadian and Anglo-Monarchist singular supremist views, the Canada First party has called a press conference at their headquarters in Hamilton, to announce not only the new coalition, but the upcoming policies and campaign.

Leonard Damphousse, speaking in Hamilton

Hello ladies, gentlemen, and all those in attendance.

While the recent months have been relatively fearful, I stand before you with a promise of security for our future. The Canada First Party was founded as a power play by corrupt individuals, but the last 5 years have shown that the party is far from corrupt! Under our guidance and assistance, we were able to establish healthcare, education and workers protections on a Federal level. We were able to follow through with our promises where other political parties have failed. Under CFP guidance, the capital province has in fact almost doubled our provincial GDP, greatly out competiting and out producing all else in Canada. It is a proven fact I would say that the policies and guidance of the CFP is holding up the entirety of our great nation! It is for this reason that many political splinter groups have left their factions, and sought to join the CFP.
It is for this reason that I announce here today that the CFP shall be merged, with splinter elements of the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation, as well as the Liberal and Progressive parties joining us. This Coalition of like minded individuals, focused on the betterment and unification of Canada will be known as the National Canadian Coalition, and it is our focus to ensure that Canada continues to grow, becoming an even stronger nation that we currently are!
While we have achieved much in regards to social security, we must turn our attention to the further improvement of our joint Canadian Identity, as well as the protection of our borders from the ever encroaching threat of foreign states.
Our history and heritage is what makes us a prideful people, but I believe that by transcending these racial divisions, while still honouring our past, we can become a truly united peoples!

The 1964 Party platform promoted by the National Canadian Coalition stands for a united Canada, furthering our efforts for a unified national identity.

  • Promotion of a joint Canadian Identity - unifying French and Anglo views into a single Canadian Identity
  • Establishment of a single state commodity - the Canadian Dollar
  • Advancement and Enlargement of the Canadian Armed Forces
  • Establish federal funding for the Canadian Armed forces - removing the burden of funding entirely from the Provinces
  • Establish and enforce a Federal Military Command
  • Establishing a National Immigration service
  • Further protecting the workers rights of Canada
  • Work to increase the federal funding for healthcare and education to 100%

[EVENT] Legacy of the Lake Ontario Company

In it's early days, the Lake Ontario company existed as a means of providing for the populous - to ensure that hospitals, police services, and all necessary public and private industries received the necessary power and goods to operate. An honourable goal, it unfortunately bred corruption. As those necessary services found themselves filled, the company began branching into businesses that would garner them income. Justified initially as a means of providing the necessary services, it was ultimately a self serving process, to line the pockets of those select few that were running the show.

Over the course of a decade things did indeed worsen, and corruption continued to grow. However within this corrupt system grew seed that would act as the basis for the foundations of a flourishing state. Within minimal monetary overhead the LOC was able to industrialize the entirety of southern Ontario, and furthermore greatly increase the urban sprawl. This continued urbanization has in fact gripped the province, with almost the entire region being centred around cities, some established and large, others growing rapidly. The focus on industrialization served the region well, providing a strong base for not only rapid growth and financial gain, but industrial output. After the LOC was incorporated into the state, it's legacy nonetheless lived on, with the entirety of southern Ontario being heavily reliant on industrial exports, as well as becoming extremely urbanized, with rapid population growth.

The Legacy of the LOC is one of industrial prowess - the number 1 exporter of industrial goods, the capital province has been able to greatly fund and provide for the people of Canada. However, the reliance on this pure industrial output has meant that many businesses are falling behind. Additionally the rapid urbanization, while it has greatly increased the wealth in the region, is putting a heavy burden on the nations food network.

[EXPANSION] TUSKEGEE TIMES: Heavy Fighting Around L'Asile Leaves Francois Duvalier Dead

L'Asile, Ayiti: In a harrowing escalation of violence, the tranquil town of L'asile, Haiti, has become the epicenter of a fierce clash between government forces and guerrilla insurgents, resulting in heavy casualties on both sides. The battle, which unfolded over several days, culminated in a victory for the guerrilla fighters, as they successfully pushed out a large Caribbean garrison. The guerillas, comprised primarily of Tonton Makout fighters and UNIA advisors, were bouyed by air support by the Aetiopian shirkes, the AAS Tubman and the AAS Salem.

The conflict erupted in the early hours of the morning as guerrilla forces launched a coordinated assault on the government-controlled areas of L'asile. A bombing run by two Aetiopian shirkes on government positions on the highway outside L'asile signalled the start of the attack. Caribbean troops, stationed in the town to maintain order and suppress dissent in the wake of the chaos of the Federation's collapse, swiftly retaliated, engaging the guerrillas in a ferocious firefight that raged across neighborhoods and alleyways.

The heaviest fighting occured in the late evening, as Duvalier's force attacked from the southern hills. With their backs to the river Serpente and no easy means of retreat following the destruction of the bridge, the Caribbean garrison, badly outnumbered and outgunned, dug deep and entrenched themselves into a formidable line, using what remained of their artillery and machien guns to create a no man's land between the Pont Mahot and the river.

In an act of courage, Francois Duvalier led the final assault - a two pronged attack along Pont Mahot and Banlieu - and moved his headquarters to a position nearer the fighting to better direct the assault. In coordination with Aetiopian air support, the attack began at 9pm, with Duvalier's loyal force hoping to use the cover of darkness to mask their movements and seize the western flank. At some point during the chaos, a stray artillery shell did hit Duvalier's command center, killing five - including, Francois Duvalier himself.

Exploiting weaknesses in the Federation's perimeter, the guerillas, motivated to avenge their fallen leader, launched a final assault on the garrison, overwhelming their adversaries with sheer numbers and ferocity. In a stunning display of defiance, the insurgents hoisted their flags atop government buildings, signaling their triumph over the established order.

The town of L'Asile is devestated, but the death of Duvalier has inspired a wave of outrage across the island. More towns and settlements, in celebration of the life of a great Ayitian hero, have risen up and swore fealty to the Pan-African movement - now led by former Aetiopian Assemblyman Alix Pisquet, a native Ayitian, and Jean-Claude Duvalier, son of Papa Doc himself.

Duvalier was born in Port-au-Prince in 1907, the son of Duval Duvalier from the French Caribbean colony of Martinique, a justice of the peace, and baker Ulyssia Abraham. He completed a degree in medicine from the University of Haiti in 1934, and served as staff physician at several local hospitals. He spent a year at the University of Michigan studying public health: 53  and in 1943, became active in a United States–sponsored campaign to control the spread of contagious tropical diseases, helping the poor to fight typhus, yaws, malaria and other tropical diseases that had ravaged Haiti for years. His patients affectionately called him "Papa Doc", a moniker that he used throughout his life.

During the Deluge, Duvalier was instrumental in organizing efforts in Ayiti to save countless innocent lives. The racism and violence that occurred during the United States occupation of Haiti, which began in 1915, inspired black nationalism among Haitians and left a powerful impression on the young Duvalier. In 1945, Duvalier reached out to and helped found the first UNIA chapter on the island, then founding the Négritude National Movement, a nationalist Ayitian movement that resisted the initial expansion of the Caribbean Federation to the island.

Forced to flea the island in 1958, Duvalier and his family settled in a small Haitian community outside Carthage, in Aetiopia. He has devoted his life to the liberation of Ayiti and its people.

[NEWS] Role of the Royal Family

With the elections rapidly approaching, the time has come for the Prime Minister to enact his last bill as the formal PM. While not being removed from office, directly, the bureaucratic red tape and timelines of course reach a point where no new bills are able to be passed. As such, Tommy Douglas has brought together the assembled Parliament, as well as journalists and reporters. Perhaps the most important bill to date, finalization of the position of the Royal Family in the Dominion of Canada has finally been reached, with the agreement of parliament for a ceremonial position to be granted to Princess Margaret, where she will now be known as the "Governor Royal".

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Today marks a significant milestone in the annals of our nation's history. It is with great honor and profound privilege that we gather here in the heart of our democracy to witness a momentous occasion – the swearing-in of Her Royal Highness, Princess Margaret, as the inaugural Governor Royal of Canada.
For far too long, our great nation has stood apart from the Kingdom of England, our ties severed by the tumultuous tides of history. But today, we stand on the precipice of a new era, one defined not by division, but by unity and mutual respect.
The expedition conducted by the Royal Canadian Navy, undertaken with unwavering determination and boundless courage, heralded a rekindling of our relationship with the Kingdom of England. Through diligent efforts, contact was established, and Princess Margaret graciously accepted our invitation to return to Canadian soil.
Yet, let us be clear – our vision for the future is one of sovereignty and self-determination. We have chosen not to revert to the colonial dominion status of yesteryears but to chart a new course, one that honors tradition while embracing progress.
The role of Governor Royal, conceived through meticulous deliberation and democratic discourse within this esteemed Parliament, symbolizes our commitment to forge a distinct identity while retaining the ties that bind us to our historical roots. This ceremonial position, akin to the Governor General, shall serve as a guardian of our parliamentary traditions, a beacon of continuity in an ever-changing world.
Princess Margaret, in assuming the mantle of Governor Royal, shall preside over the ceremonial affairs of our nation with grace and dignity. From the solemn opening of Parliament to the commemoration of our most cherished traditions, she shall embody the spirit of unity and inclusivity that defines the Canadian ethos.
Furthermore, in accordance with the will of Parliament, the position of Governor Royal shall adhere to the principle of Seniority Succession. This ensures that the eldest member of the Royal Family shall inherit the responsibilities of this esteemed office, transcending individual personalities to uphold the sanctity of our institutions.
As we embark on this journey together, let us reaffirm our commitment to the values that define us as Canadians – tolerance, diversity, and compassion. Let us embrace the future with optimism and determination, knowing that our shared destiny is rooted in the rich tapestry of our past.
In conclusion, let us extend our heartfelt congratulations to Her Royal Highness, Princess Margaret, as she assumes the role of Governor Royal. May her tenure be marked by prosperity, harmony, and unwavering dedication to the service of our beloved nation.
Thank you, and may Canada endure for generations to come.

[DIPLOMACY] Rearrangement of the Bloc Doctrine

The CPG is an anti-communist state that lynched anyone suspected of being a red not too long ago. The bloc doctrine was built on that, with the communists being considered one of the "hostile states" that were to be opposed. However, the CPG is not the wealthiest country, and needs monetary injection for its army to grow into a formidable force, which the USSA, one of the communist states on american soil, was more than willing to provide in exchange for Arizona steel. The diplomatic strategy now had to be readjusted,

The USSA and its ideological allies would now be considered fellow agents of resisting influence of the DC government. Despite sharp ideological differences, the USSA is rich enough to provide the CPG with much needed capital, leading to EC planners and diplomats eventually convincing most of the EC leadership into caving in to the communists, who would from now on be considered friendly governments worth aiding due to the relevance of Colorado-USSA trade routes. At least for now.

Reapproachment with the USSA is now the official stance of the CPG diplomatic corps towards the socialist Union, as the possibilities of mutual growth were too enticing to ignore. Expansion of economic cooperation between the two countries would be the first move towards building a highly profitable relationship.

[EVENT] Modern Tanks to Crush our Enemies

For years the M4 Sherman has served as the armoured workhorse of the United States and then New Union Army. Its fast speed, moderate armour and adequate gun have allowed it to remain as a reliable workhorse of many armies across america. However the years have drawn on and now the design is more than two decades old, we need a replacement.

The new vehicle as designed is the M20 “Warden”, effectively a spiritual successor to the Sherman. A 76mm gun allows the vehicle to engage armoured and unarmoured targets. Its maximum on road speed is 48 km/h along with angled 100mm of armour allowing it to close the distance to targets while also shrugging off hits.

150 of these tanks will be ordered, to fill out our divisions and hopefully begin to make a difference against any future fight with Wisconsin.

[DIPLOMACY] There’s A City In My Mind

######16th November 1964;

######Port Arthur, SCS;

“Chrissake, I was just about to ask the Caribbean to negotiate some emigratory rights for those that could afford it, why did they have to fall apart right before my eyes? It’ll have to be somewhere like the Rio Grande then, or Northern California, or whatever is left stable of the mess down there in Mexico after all that’s been going on down there. Are you sure that nothing else can be done to stabilise what’s left or?”

“Well, Lucas, you have a few options. Know Liukkonen will support you in your actions - he’s not supposed to be partaking in your decision-making as part of the Investigatory wing. Nixon won’t mind what you’ve got, but you need to keep Aspen on your side, or otherwise convince the IUP to unite on the idea. I can type a few telegrams out, you want one to be sent?” asked his private secretary, Agnete Skaarud, sitting opposite him in the lavish office within the New Suburbs of Port Arthur, marking the northern fringe of the port city. He had the council complex built some time after Port Arthur was split in two for constituency areas - in the south, Barlow kept the old office. Before then, Badanai and MacIvor had shared that office, but both of the new members preferred separate quarters. Plus, the new offices accommodated newer northern-city services, renewed for the new growth and the wealthy residents, as the centrepiece of the services complex within the garden-city-inspired design.

Looking across the from floor-to-ceiling south-facing windows, Lucas pondered for a second on his actions for what to do. Then, he realised that the assurances, added together with his original idea to stabilise Mexico, could mix. They had some surplus equipment to grant to the local militia, as well as some extra equipment. What was more, they could even fund them with some extra budget surplus, such was the ability of the government to not spend what little money they could get from their taxes.

“Agnete, how stable could we make Mexico - like, how easily have any states held onto their territory? We could go there, take advantage of them, and build up some sort of force far away from home. Moreover, that’s an action that will win over our peoples, and get us elected. What’s the impacts?” inquired Lucas, hoping that there would be little in the way of challenges - his mind was focused on the triumphs.

“Well Mister Hoult,” began Agnete, sighing deeply in the pause, “there has not been a single state in Mexico that has lasted over 30 months, so might I suggest you look east once more? The Caribbean is divided enough, and we could always do something to disrupt the region - I have info from the south about allegiances.”

“Okay,” started a disappointed Lucas, “that will have to suffice. Who else is there? Is it just Communists?”

“There’s some of the DC government there too, says ‘Federal Government’ on the map.”

“WHAT? Okay, okay, we need to get there as fast as possible, where would work? Could Puerto Rico work, could Hispaniola work, could Jamaica work, could Cuba work? Anywhere, Agnete?”

“Try South-East Hispaniola, there’s an area of nationalist rebels around… Bonao? We could try to get someone there, by plane.”

“Correct. I think my younger brother would work. Get a phone line up to Melvin Hoult, we’re sending him down there to set up some long-wave radio, because we’re sending orders, and we want something. Contact Nixon, contact Liukkonen also, we need to do this. Who else is in the region that we would want to avoid?”

“There’s the CSA but they’re in a war, Aetiopia but they’re not going to be interested in an area that won’t have many slaves, also British Honduras is now occupied by Canada---”

“WHAT THE FUCK? Alright, we need to get there immediately, we need to enforce the Nixon Doctrine, because the fuck are we giving up an opportunity to fuck them over. Do it, do it, DO IT!”

[EVENT] Standardization is Anarchist! For Fucks Sake!

October 1964

It had become a significant issue that the People sure did enjoy making their own firearms, and while it did significantly reduce the initial logistical hurdle of arming an army, it couldn't remain, because no, the quartermaster did not have another ten thousand rounds of .45x103mmR, who the hell makes a weapon that uses that, let alone that much. And while they did definitely fill every possible niche a weapon could have, most fell short of the "hit a dinner plate at 100m" standard. No, standardization would come with production, but for now, the People could train with their own weapons, might make a circus out of parade, but the communes would standardize by consensus... hopefully. Right?

[MOBILIZATION] Anotha One

Again and again, more stood in the door of the bounty office. They'd heard about the revolution on the radio, and they were happy to oblige in revolutionary service. There hadn't been a real war since the Doctrinal Wars almost a decade ago and these kids had grown up hearing the stories of battle and heroism.

Revolutionary Service is what made me the man I am today!

Said the recruiter as he reached his prosthetic over to grab some filing forms.

The training camps were surely something. A lack of heavy equipment meant that most artillerymen were learning with logs arranged in the vague shape of one of the divisional guns. The riflemen were training, but mostly in how to avoid shooting their fellow soldiers. There wasn't really a chain of command, there were elected "leaders" but decisions still tended to default to consensus. People worked together, battles would be won through the total manifestation of the collective will. That required guns, a lot of guns, and it was getting hard to carry, literally, every variation of every cartridge some hillbilly made to see if a titanium ring could hold that much pressure.

[DEVELOPMENT] The Civilizing Mission

[From a speech by Governor Royal Princess Magaret at a fundraiser gala for the Antigonish Christian Development Agency]

"For too long, the people of the world have been denied the light of Christ. At first, it was ignorance that kept them in the dark, as missionaries were not able to penetrate the jungles of Africa. Then, it was the heathen faiths of Islam and Animism that kept them in the dark."

"However, now, the greatest threat to Christian civilization is not the heathen religions of old, but the modern heathen religion of Communism. Communism has lurked throughout much of Central America for years, and nearly overthrew the Pan-American Republic until the American Navy stepped in. Communist guerillas are still present in the Colony of British Honduras, where our own volunteers are restoring order to the region."

"However, the greatest Communist threat to stability in the Caribbean Basin is not found on the mainland, but on the islands that were once the Caribbean Federation. Many of these islands were once part of the British Empire, and - as one of the heirs to the British Empire - I have a particular mission to protect the Christians of those isles from the Red Menace."

"Thus, I have granted the Antigonish Christian Development Agency to begin missionary work in the isles, to bring the rural people out of poverty and restore them to Christ. They will establish rural cooperatives supervised by Christian clergymen so that the people can achieve economic independence from criminal cartels and Communist paramilitaries. They will spread the word that the Royal Canadian Navy is in the Caribbean Basin to protect the people and not to oppress them."

"Remember, the British Empire has always been a champion of Civilization and Christianity. It has always had its mission to civilize the peoples of the world so that eventually those who are suitably civilized can part ways with the Empire and regain their independence. Any lands taken within the Caribbean Basin will be set on the path towards eventual self-government. Just as Canada is now taking its own place on the world stage as Britain is smothered by thee waves, what are now Protectorates of Canada will some day get their own turn in the sun."

"Please give to the ACDA and give generously to support the Civilizing Mission of the Dominion of Canada."

[NEWS] The Canadian Redemption Party Releases its 1964 Platform

Since the last election, Canada has been governed by a coalition of the CCF, CFP, Liberals, and Red Tories. With only itself, Social Credit, and the BCF in opposition, the Canadian Redemption Party has been very active in criticizing the actions of the government. CRP propaganda so far has been focused on painting the coalition as a 'deal with the devil' where the 'socialists' of the CCF and CFP are seen as a 'corrupting' influence on the otherwise reasonable Liberals and Red Tories. The hope is that the CRP can draw away many of the moderate voters who have been unhappy with the actions of Prime Minister Tommy Douglas.

However, despite months of criticism of the Government, the CRP has yet to put forward a proposal of its own. Thus, it has come time for the CRP to release its platform. If elected, the CRP would:

  • end the Federal government's direct involvement in dictating health and education policy to the Provinces

  • pay for the entirety of Canada's military (including the SQ and including resource costs, not just monetary costs) out of the deep pockets of the Federal Province

  • establish the Canadian Wheat Board and Canadian Fish Board to pay a fair price to Canadian food producers ($1.5million/unit of food)

  • establish the Canadian Petroleum Board and Canadian Lumber Board to pay a fair price to Canadian resource workers ($4 million/unit of Fuel and CM)

  • restrict the immigration of Coloured people and non-Christians to Canada

  • restrict the activities of Communists and Socialists within Canada and enable the RCMP to break up all labour unions with ties to Ohio Communists

  • support the civilizing mission of Christianity both amongst the Native peoples of Canada and in the Caribbean

[EVENT] Second Five Year Plan

In the aftermath of the success of the largely wartime centric Five Year Plan, which aimed to restore at least 30% of pre-flood armament production capacity, the Second Five Year Plan seeks to improve the material conditions and economic growth of the civilian sector. Large focus in the Second Five Year Plan lies within the policy of import substitution, which places Michigan especially into focus. Reliant on imports of raw materials and food, the 2nd FYP will focus on the development of the still-lagging Michigan as the breadbasket of the USSA.

[MOBILIZATION] Carlson Doctrine

With the death of the Doctrine of Deep Operations on the hills of Kentucky, the Red Army had pivoted away from Deep Battle as a conceptual theory and undergo its first large restructuring as a force in the aftermath of the war in Kentucky. The Carlson Doctrine, as many at the Revolutionary War College would call it, now stands as the preeminent philosophy for force design. Inherently a defensive doctrine reflecting the geopolitical situation the USSA finds itself in (surrounded on 3 sides by the DC regime and its allies), the Carlson Doctrine focuses on heavy concentrations of firepower and large infantry masses to function as essentially battlefield fortresses to keep maneuver to a minimum, pinning down an entire front. The key to success in the Carlson Doctrine hinges on the Special Divisions, which are elite commandos or paratroopers units. These units would utilize air and land mobility assets to create and exploit gaps and disruptions on and behind enemy lines to create a situation where sustainment of a solid frontline is no longer feasible.

[LORE] No Mercy

The Bushwackers had achieved a stunning victory at Kansas City, for minimal casualties they had turned back the Union forces and laid the enemy air force low. With grit and tenacity they had turned back the fascists. In the east however the New Union had run up against the rebel defences and met little resistance, the Bushwackers had been routed and now parts of their forces were cut off to the north without any reprieve.

Now came the retribution, for their resistance at Kansas City, for the crime of defending their lands against tyranny the people would be dealt with. The prisoners would be executed, the scant few towns in these isolated prairies put to the torch. The few “fortunate” survivors would be clapped in irons and given life sentences for their crimes of treason against the New Union government, children as young as 6 were sentenced in military courts. Those younger were taken from their families and sent to more worthy foster families to be raised as loyal citizens of the union. The Bushwackers land of liberty and freedom was now a land of burned out husks of towns and barely covered mass graves.

With the war against Wisconsin on the horizon the Bushwackers would receive a reprieve however. The more pertinent threat means the anti-bandit campaign will be put on hold until the Illinois Territory is secure.

[EXPANSION] Our Westernmost State | Fifth Western Expedition

#Parva sub Ingenti

Date: June 24th; 1964

Location: Ranger State of Mohave

With the creation of the Ranger State of Mohave, the progress to reclaim the lands of Arizona which feel into disrepair after the collapse of the MacArthurite regime continued, with the new state being posed to become one of the most militarized structures in our westernmost sectors. For the first time, the Ranger Commonwealth would be reaching the shores of the Pacific Ocean, reclaiming access to it and becoming one of the few nations in the territories of the now dissolved United States with access to both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

This progress would be immensely televised to the population of the Commonwealth, with the words of the first Governor-General of the Texan Ranger Republic being plastered in the background.

"From the Pacific to the Atlantic, the Rangers will bring back Peace and Safety..."

Summary:

  • Expanding Ranger State of Mohave with provinces RK028, RK027, NM017and NM021.

[Event] The Opening of the Canadian Embassy and Aid News

Although the Republic of the Rio Grande and Canada have maintained official relations and recognition for some years now, there has not yet been a proper embassy until now. That has finally been rectified, as a new Canadian embassy is opening in Monterrey, near the American embassy and that of the Caribbean Federation. In addition, an embassy of the Rio Grande will open in London, Ontario.

At the opening speech, where the ambassador will present their credentials, President Leran will give a speech. It will not only welcome the opening of the embassy and existing Canadian-Rio trade and cultural ties but will give special thanks to Canada. This is because recently Canada sent a large financial aid package to the Republic, which the Republic is very grateful and will put to good use. The President has praised Canada’s generosity and efforts to promote the development of other countries, all while still developing Canada itself.

[EXPANSION] More Settlements Defects to Duvalier's Ispayola

ISPAYOLA'S LIBERATION FROM THE WILD JACKALS OF THE SO-CALLED FEDERATION IS IMMINENT. CHILDREN OF AYITI, OF AFRICA, RISE UP AND STAND STRONG. THE LIBERATION MILITIA WILL NOT FORGIVE TRAITORS OF AYITI, THE OLIGARCHS AND VULTURES THAT HAVE PLUNDERED OUR ISLAND FOR THEIR OWN GAIN. THE DUVALIERS HAVE RETURNED.

  • Francois Duvalier

TUSKEGEE TIMES

Mibalè, Ayiti: The largest settlement in North Ayiti was host to a large gathering of Tonton Makout and UNIA activists, as city leaders welcomed the arrival of Jean-Claude Duvalier in the city on July 2nd, 1964. While insurrection is commonplace across the former Federation, Ayiti is slowly stabilizing as more and more settlements begin waving the flag of black, red, and green. Bouyed by support from Aetiopia, Duvalier's militias have brought peace, stability, and needed aid to the chaotic Ayitan countryside - but in the south, a guerilla war is beginning against the last vestiges of the Caribbean government. Nonetheless, unable to respond due to mutinies and other regions of concern, however, Duvalier's guerilla fighters are operating almost unimpeded in the north island.

Mibalè is a small agricultural market town, and has long been host to anti-Caribbean sentiment. Unlike the more developed south island, the north had remained, even at the height of Federation power, a humid and hilly backwater that did not share in the country's prosperity. As popular support for Duvalier's return rises in the north, the guerilla movement in the south continues, confident of imminent success and liberation for the island of Ayiti, and unity with the broader community of African people on the continent.

[EVENT] The Creme of the Crop

The autocannon made the 50. Calibre machine gun looks like a child's toy, its fire was fast yet stabilised allowing the gunners to send a volley of high explosive down range and eviscerate enemy troops. Its only downside was the increased weight of the weapon and ammunition. A mortar or M2 machine gun could conceivably be carried by a team of soldiers, the autocannon required vehicular transport to the battlefield and a full team to move it short distances and operate it.

Several hundred metres down the training range the new soldiers were training on their new rifles, the M7 Battle Rifle. A select-fire rifle able to alternate between single-fire and fully automatic fire with a rifle calibre cartridge. Replacing the old and venerable M1 Garand this new weapon will be a vast improvement for our forces.

Recruiting 12 x Union Infantry and 3 x 20mm Autocannon.

[Event] Guys, You Gotta Read

Although the Republic of the Rio Grande’s Armed Forces are far from an elite or expensive group, and the society far from a militarized one, there have to be some standards. Incidents of soldiers being unable to read even the most basic of names on boxes have led to some mockery and accidents. Now that the Republic’s security position is a bit more secure and the literary improvement program has also progressed, the Armed Forces will announce new literacy requirements for new recruits.

Military Literacy Standards will be set to Mild Literacy Requirements

[Event] Let Freedom Ring from the Zocalos

Although the coalition government and President Leran were reelected, the pressures for various reforms have grown. Civil society groups, interest groups, and progressive politicians have been pushing for years for deregulation in land rights, freedom of association, and the reduction in social discrimination that has accompanied both de facto.

A bill to reduce the most onerous and unnecessary regulations and restrictions on the freedom of association in the Republic has been paired with another bill to do something similar for land rights. Although they faced some opposition from national security hawks, supporters of regulation, and more landed interests, they were able to pass and were signed into law.

Land Rights will be set to Unrestricted

Freedom of Association will be set to Unrestricted

Social Discrimination set to Limited
