Racists not welcome.
Portsmouth is the second largest city in the ceremonial county of Hampshire on the south coast of England.
Located mainly on Portsea Island, it is the United Kingdom's only island city. Portsmouth is situated 64 miles south west of London and 19 miles south east of Southampton.
The city has a population of 205,400 and is the only city in the United Kingdom with a greater population density than London.
The City of Portsmouth and Portsmouth Football Club are both nicknamed "Pompey".
More information about our wonderful and historical city, including details of the well documented naval base which is home to the Royal Navy can be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portsmouth

Hello!
I frequently visit my partner in Portsmouth, who currently lives in the MC zone. I’ve encountered some issues with paying for the residence visitors parking permit. I just wanted to confirm how the MC zone operates if anyone knows.
I’m not sure if the parking is free outside of the scheme’s hours, as on the Portsmouth website it says “Scheme operates 5pm to 7pm daily, no free parking provision.”
I’d have no problem paying for parking outside of the permit hours; however, if you try to pay for it on RingGo, it will only allow you to pay for parking starting at 5 p.m. the next day. If you try to pay after 7pm
So I don’t want to leave my car without any form of payment until 5 p.m. the next day. Thank you to anyone that replies, and if this is just me being stupid and it’s as simple as it’s free that would be much appreciated!! ☺️
I know, the C word.
We are thinking about avoiding cooking on the day but don't want to go out to eat. Does anyone know if any of the decent Chinese takeaways are open normally on Xmas day?
Hi all!
Weird one… so I bought a new kitchen knife sharpener (multiple wet stone, full setup).
I was telling my neighbour about it and she asked if I could do hers too, gave me a meat pie to say thanks! Anyways; since then I’ve had her ask me if I can sort a friend of hers, who noticed her ‘new knives’, for £25.
It has me thinking - is that a common problem? Does anyone else need there knifes sharpened? And if so, what would you be willing to pay, is £25 a good price to enter market?
Hello! I’ll be moving from the States to Portsmouth next summer to be stationed at the Naval Base and had a few questions that I feel better asking y’all instead of just relying on Google, which can sometimes fail to accurately / completely represent a new place.
Any and all pointers are vastly appreciated!
Wondering if anyone knows of any local farms / pumpkin patches where you can also carve the pumpkin there too?
Average speed check at 50mph M27 between J9 and J10, for the new emergency areas going in.
50mph average speed check, all good. Then Blue metal signs saying 'Variable Speed Limit'. No more signs saying 50 after, and the gantries all blank. But the cones continue a bit longer before eventually saying 'End of Road Works'
What's going on? If the gantries are blank does that mean it's 70 again from the VSL signs?
I'm seeing all kinds of issues with drivers interpreting the signs differently. I can't find any conclusive info online.
Does anyone know?!?! Or do they just give us tickets and not tell us this stuff.
I recently have started coming to the Portsmouth Uni with my partner as I'm I'm the open university, however I wanted to meet some other students to study with or game etc.

Hey everyone,
I’m interested in exploring some abandoned or off-the-beaten-path places in the Portsmouth region. Whether it's old factories, buildings, or anything that has a bit of history and atmosphere, I'd love to check them out.
If anyone knows of cool spots (especially safe ones), I'd really appreciate it! Feel free to share any experiences or recommendations. Thanks in advance! :)
Edit : Preferably places close to Commercial Road Don't want to go too far just yet
In a couple of weeks, we’ve got The Warriors journeying over from Kent. They were the band that formed out of The Last Resort in the 80s. A great night out in the city if you’re into punk and oi!

We're doing the distillery tour on Saturday afternoon and need to find a good place to line our stomachs beforehand. Where would you go?
Hey is there any book clubs / exchanges that don’t require the social aspect as such - just somewhere we can trade books with no pressure of reading / reviewing ? I don’t want to keep buying new books and do nothing with them once finished so be good to do a little swap

Hi all! I'm going to be moving to Portsmouth soon and want to get involved in charity work/contributing to the community. What areas do you guys feel have the greatest need?

Hey everyone,
Following up on my previous post about finding an area to rent in Portsmouth, I just wanted to thank you all for your helpful comments! I'm planning to rent a 1-bedroom flat for 8 months as I might move to another hospital afterward.
I've checked all the areas you recommended, but unfortunately, I haven't had much luck finding properties for rent. So far, I’ve found two options:
I'm still looking, but I need to rent something soon as I’ll be moving in 2-3 weeks. What do you all think about these options? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again!
Howdy fellow pompites. I'm looking for a wedding photographer, I'm hoping to find someone who's not too expensive. If you know someone who's looking to grow their portfolio, that would be ideal. The wedding is a small affair and will not require orchestrating loads of people. A few small group family shots and some candid shots of the guests etc. Probably about.4 hours attendance
Hi all
A friend finished their law degree and has several uni books for sale.

Hi everyone,
I’ve recently secured a doctor job at Queen Alexandra Hospital and am looking for a place to rent. Safety is a top priority since I may need to commute late at night.
I’ve heard that Southsea is a good option—what are your thoughts on that area? Is it safe, and how reliable is the transportation to the hospital from there?
I’d appreciate any other recommendations for safe neighborhoods as well. Thank you!
