Not mine, but saw someone put up a SC500 for sale on mercari

I noticed today that someone in Japan is selling their SC500 and noticed here a few times that people are looking to buy them.

Not mine as I certainly don't plan on selling mine, I just noticed it come up and thought that I would post it here.

PT01 Scratch slow to get up to speed after reinstalling platter with stock belt.

I apologize for the mobile formatting. It goes like this: I discovered my turntable was making some sort of scraping sound (only when the platter was starting to spin), then I reinstall the platter, works great, noise is gone, problem fixed. Then, the noise comes back after some time, and stronger. So I remove the platter again to really try to understand what's going on, I cleaned the platter area a little since there were some little pieces there, but this time, when I put back the platter, I can't scratch because the table is super sensitive and slow,, and I can stop the platter from spinning with little pressure (it wasn't like this at all before) and I reinstall it again, and again, and again, but it won't work, I tried different ways of putting the belt back like with just my hands or using the pin thingy on the underside of the platter, nothing worked. Did I somehow fuck up my belt? It doesn't look more stretched than before, and the PT01 is unused and brand new. I guess something prevents friction between the platter and motor? Thanks in advance

Stanton Stx sound fluctuation

Hey turntablists!

I’ve been having an issue with my Stanton STX’s sound occasionally dropping really low, especially when doing fast techniques like tears. The volume will dip for a few seconds before coming back to normal. This happens more when the battery is low, but recently I’ve been noticing it even after 30 minutes of scratching.

I bought it as an open-box item from turntablelab.com. Does anyone have suggestions on what might be causing this or how to fix it? Appreciate any help!

Modding the Handytraxx Tube would be a massive flex

Just seen the new KORG Handytraxx range that has been announced ahead of NAMM, the Tube variant is currently listed at over £1k rrp, I can't help but think that modding this would be a HUGE flex. The Play is listed as the scratch version but the tone arm and JICO cartridge along with the metal platter on the Tube just scream for a crossfader mod.

Squeaking noise from the platter when pressing down even very lightly

Is this normal or should I have a lighter touch? I assume it is the drive or motor protesting from the pressure applied, is this going to ruin my turntable?

Portablism gear

Hey guys, i bought an sc500 from portablism gear on Jan. 3. After i purchased it it told me i will recieve a confirmation email, and i never did. The money was deducted from my bank so i assume that my order is just processing. I am aware it takes them a little bit to get the item built and what not, but i am a little concerned because i never received an email confirmation. Just wondering if anyone can ease my anxiety

Scratch records with beats?

I'm trying to find some scratch records that have like funky/soul beats or just blank noise so I can scratch to instrumentals?

I can only find ones that go AHH and FRESH etc. Is that all they make these days?

I just ordered a stanton stx and am a total beginner any advice or recommendations are greatly appreciated!

Am I better off just ordering some non scratch 7" records and destroying the vinyl?

Which one do you recommend?

Forgive me in advance I don't know much about electronics..

Which portable turntable do you recommend? I was going to go all out and buy two turntables, a mixer, and a laptop, but then I checked my bank account.. right after i wondered to myself, how would I even hook it all up?

I have never scratched before but always been very drawn to the art and sound.

Enter portable turntables. Something easy I might be able to comprehend, Bluetooth pairing with my phone and playing a song/beat I can scratch over?? SIGN ME UP

I want to get the reloop because it comes with a 7" scratch vinyl, but then they threw me a curveball and said it's powered by batteries sold separately or "USB".

How do you power something with a USB? Or do they have corded USB?

I realize these are things I could type into Google but I wanted to ask people who might actually have the reloop how this is done.

If you dont recommened the reloop where can I score some 7" scratch records to go with whatever portable turntable you recommend?

Finally got a portable unit

Got this on sale last month from Amazon but just finally got 7” records today.

I got to say this is super fun.

Overall i’m new to turntablism as I just got my setup last year. I plan to bring the stanton it to work with me so I can practice during downtime.

STX Jesse Dean tonearm issue

I have 2 STX cause apart from scratching I DJ with 7" inch vinyl. So as sound quality was crucial I bought 2 carbon tonearm kits. First of allI was surprised that there were 2 pre amps in every box. I Installed the first kit and it was OK, good quality, good output volume. Installed the second... and dull sound, low volume. I started swapping pre amp kits back and forth with no luck. The French shop I bought it responded quickly and send me two more pre amps! Tried both same result.

Even the first kit that worked on the first STX was not working OK on the second... I then contacted JD and he kindly send me 2 more pre amps that supposedly would fix the issue something which never happened.

Just to mention that both STX had identical sound with the ceramic cartridges, which are not suitable for DJing of course.

Numark PT01USB to earn has a little play to it

My Numark PT01s tonearm has developed a couple problems. It wiggles slightly but that may have always been going on there but does not seem to affect playback or operation.

One is that the needle doesn’t just drop when I let it go on the record, it just stalls mid-air and does not lower to contact the record.

Or, it touches the record and stalls immediately instead of settling into the groove, so it kind of floats at the surface of the record and skips backward and loops instead of playing through, until I put some pressure on it to lock it into the groove then it plays through.

Any idea how to fix this?

Selling a PT01 on ebay, fully modded (all except pre amp)

I am starting to think that the fine folks on eBay don't know the value of all the mods I have made to my numark scratch. Granted, there are a few watchers, but no one has bid yet with three days to go. Therefore, I am going to link the auction here (if that's ok with the mods?

In total, I have : installed a UFO X ONE yellow acrylic platter with aluminum shaft, a Jesse Dean PCB tone arm with stanton stylus, Jesse Dean crossfader, start stop switch, DJ Woody "grind strip" and I have upgraded the belt. I am throwing in a 7 inch vinyl, butter rugs slipmat and a metal 45 adapter to get you going.
