Hey everyone! I’m itching for a GT car, specifically a 997.2 GT3 RS, so here’s where I need some input. Currently, I own a 993 Turbo and a Telluride (wifes), and I’ve got one toddler and one infant (both rear-facing).
Part 1: Should I trade my 993 Turbo for a 997.2 GT3 RS? The Turbo is special, but the GT3 RS has been a long-time itch, and I wonder if it’s worth making the swap.
Part 2: What’s the best daily driver to add? I’m debating between the BMW M5 Competition LCI for some performance in daily life, and the F-150 Raptor for utility and off-road fun. Realistically, the Sienna would probably be the best fit for family life in Silicon Valley, but I’m resisting the full minivan shift.
For those with young kids, did you lean towards performance or go all-in on practicality? And would you let go of a 993 Turbo for the 997.2 GT3 RS? Any advice to help find the balance between dream cars and daily life is appreciated!
My mother wants to buy a new SUV and decided on a Cayenne coupe. Since new orders in my country are taking over a year to deliver she has decided to look for used pre facelift models. We found a 2023 Cayenne coupe with all the options she wants, except it has the base audio system.
My mother is not an audiophile and won’t care too much about sound quality, but there is a point where the sound system is so bad that it’s better to not use it at all. All the posts I’ve seen online have said that the base audio is garbage and that you need to upgrade to Bose at the very least. So how bad is it really?
I'm trying to put a list together of cars that I think will appreciate over time. Not specifically porsche. I think we are 6-12 months away from the next leg up in cars.
1- Assume the car is driven at least 3,000 miles a year -this is where ferrari can be great or dangerous
Looking for cars that will be viewed as "cool" to a wide variety of high income earners including women
Looking for cars that have a secondary market for repairs, replacement, etc.
Want cars that have a possible 50% in them in 4-6 years but not looking for anything that's above $400,00.
List so far
997 Gt3, .2 preferred over .1
997 gt3 rs
718 spyder rs, pts
997.2 turbo manual coupe
964 turbo
991.2 gt3 touring pts
Clean, well built 70-73 long hood hot rod (current $200-225k)
430 scuderia and 16m
Murcileago -clean
clk63 black series
lotus Elise clean
r8 stick, v10 and v8, coupe
what am I missing, what should NOT be in on the list?
Need some opinions here I have a 1992 964 Turbo that requires constant shop trips and upkeep Love the styling, drive experience (straight line on the PCH) and the analog feeling However it’s getting quite annoying to keep up, AC is bad in summer, speakers are mid at best, not that comfortable. Thinking of buying a 2025 992.1 Turbo (Not S) instead. The modern 911 is just so easy to drive, exciting, all the features. But will I regret getting rid of my classic? Thoughts below maybe someone of you have went vintage to new before? Thanks!
Bought this car from someone who had these installed. No idea what these are called and how to remove em.
Alex Albon (F1 Driver) just got this and it is beautiful!
I’m Tennessee based, considering an 18 Panamera 4S from Massachusetts. Friend who has a lot more experience buying used cars swears against buying anything from the northeast due to the amount of salt on the roads during winter. Anyone have thoughts on that?
Does anyone know how I could find my grandpas old Porsche 944, I don’t have the vin, so I know it’s a long shot, but I don’t know if there are any permanent record of names that have been on a cars title. If you are willing to help and have an idea, we can dm for more information. Thank you in advance!
Hey,
I'm about to get my license soon and I was contemplating on my first car. I'm 26 if that matters.
I'm only willing to spend 25k for anything but my first car options were either a tesla model 3 or a 996. I am not getting a beater car for the sake of 'rite of passage'.
Tesla is in my thoughts since it seems to be really safe and the maintenance is really low being that it is electric. Also it has lots of fool proof things to keep you safe when driving.
The 996 crossed my mind since I simply like the analog look to it. I wouldn't care too much to be driving stupid fast in it.
I'm in Chicago so whatever I pick would be a daily driver for me. I'm not too sure how porches, especially an older 996, would handle the harsh midwest winters. Also my commute is probably about only 13-14 miles total for a day (7 miles to and from work).
So far my only reasoning against a 996 is just that the cost of having it would be greatly larger than having a tesla.
Anywho, any insight would be appreciated. If anyone has any older porches they keep and daily, I would love to know if you feel the cost of maintaining it is worth it or not! Also if you happen to be in the midwest area, do porches handle well in the winters?
Thank you!!
